[Bug 1895905] Re: lubuntu groovy; flashing of sddm greeter

2022-05-20 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu.

Ubuntu 21.04 (hirsute) reached end-of-life on January 20, 2022.
Ubuntu 20.10 (groovy) reached end-of-life on July 22, 2021.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested
in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the
latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still
present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling
us which new version it is in.

(I don't think I still have the box this bug report was filed on, but
the video card was not my own so I cannot retest with that card)

[Bug 1922342] Re: Impish live session takes ages to boot on BIOS systems

> dd if=/dev/zero bs=1 count=16 of=/dev/sdb conv=notrunc seek=462
>then i expect it to be permanently booting in reasonable time.

Inserted thumb-drive(2) [Ubuntu-MATE jammy] into box and

-- start paste
guiverc@d960-ubu2:/de2900/ubuntu_mate_64$ sudo dd if=/dev/zero bs=1 count=16
of=/dev/sdb conv=notrunc seek=462
[sudo] password for guiverc:
16+0 records in
16+0 records out
16 bytes copied, 0.0107609 s, 1.5 kB/s
-- end paste

booted it on j3400
- motion computing j3400 (c2d-u9400, 4gb, intel mobile 4 series)

on boot (noting when at grub) it had reached maybe-ubiquity in ~3 mins
using room clock (no seconds as digital). I made an error in typing
SysRq-REO (intended REISUB) so as no sync.. ignoring this bot.

turned box back on & booted again; again at maybe-ubiquity in ~3 mins by
room clock. Correctly used SysRq-REISUB to restart

another boot & again ~3 mins by room clock. SysRq-REISUO now

NOTE: I didn't wait for clock to change minute & press enter this time,
thus the extra seconds (making 2+ mins ~3 mins) is just ME not starting
hitting the timing at ~:01 secs or hitting ENTER just after minute
changes.. Either way ~3 mins is NOT TEN minutes as the slow boot takes
to reach maybe-ubiquity.

This confirms what I believe you wanted.

[Bug 1922342] Re: Impish live session takes ages to boot on BIOS systems

2022-05-19 Thread Chris Guiver
-- reply to @Thomas #112 (start paste)
So if we want to propose a workaround for the current layout, it would be a
good base if you could confirm that j3400 boots after the plain procedure with
no other experiments inbetween:

  # Patch the ISO already as image on hard disk
  ISO=ubuntu-22.04-desktop-amd64.iso
  dd if=/dev/zero bs=1 count=16 of="$ISO" conv=notrunc seek=462

  # Put it onto the USB stick as you usually do. E.g.
  sudo dd bs=4M oflag=sync status=progress of=/dev/sdb if="$ISO"

Then you would check if it boots twice on the j3400. If the second boot
succeeds and shows a writable big partition as last one, then we could
be sure that this procedure is a valid workaround.

A run of

sudo xorriso -indev stdio:/dev/sdb -report_system_area plain

would (hopefully) confirm that there is no second MBR partition with
boot flag.

Of course it would be enough if you can confirm that you did this already
during the experiments, with no intermediate manipulations. But given the curvy
way of this bug report, we need to be sure.

I grabbed my thumb-drive 2; Ubuntu-MATE jammy (2022-04-19)
- plugged into j3400; enter pressed [just] @12:28 using room clock, plymouth
seen at 12:36, maybe-ubiquity appeared at 12:38

This wasn't required/requested; but I omitted `sudo` for last; so added
here

Ejected thumb-drive (2) & booted on plugged into hp.dc7700; it failed to boot :(

On j3400; pressed ENTER (at grub) at 13:10 (room clock).. I didn't note
time of plymouth but I had maybe-ubiquity @ 13:13 (room clock) for
altered version of 2022-04-19 ISO

I used SysRq-REISUO to shutdown there.. (I'm reading your instructions as I do
it)
so I'll now boot twice

[Bug 1970062] Re: 22.04 MATE Mutiny dock bug with Caja and trashcan

2022-05-19 Thread Chris
I have since upgraded from 20.04.4 to 22.04 and can see the same bug.
Mutiny layout with Plank dock shows a second icon for Caja when:
1- click on trash icon in dock (when no other Caja window is open)
2- or, plug in an external drive (again, when no other Caja window is open)

In both situations, a second Caja icon appears at the bottom of the app list in
the dock. Subsequent "new window" requests from the Caja menu add to that
second icon.
Clicking on the first, pinned Caja icon in the dock opens a new window, again
linked to the second icon.
Clicking second icon works as expected, switching to Caja / minimising all Caja
windows / bringing them back

screenshot attached of external drive with both Caja icons.

[Bug 1922342] Re: Impish live session takes ages to boot on BIOS systems

2022-05-18 Thread Chris Guiver
My thumb-drive K does not boot on
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)
- hp dc7900 (c2d-e8400, 4gb, intel 4 series integrated i915)
as it stands now.. (No big news as dc7700 & dc7900 usually react the same; but
confirmed it won't boot on dc7900)

Likely not required; but again

- hp dc7900 (c2d-e8400, 4gb, intel 4 series integrated i915)

I only booted to maybe-ubiquity|try/install then used sysrq-REISUO. If
you needed me to complete boot & shutdown like a user, you'll have to
ask me to do that.

I tested boot again on
- dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e6850, 5gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
- dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd

The following would NOT BOOT thumb-drive K now
- sony vaio svp112a1cw (i5-9400u, 4gb, intel haswell-ULT)
(I didn't get it to boot on samsung 700t1c-p10aat either, but I can't rule out
me; as I find that device a pain booting external media)

[Bug 1973827] Re: Laptop freezes when recovering from suspend / sleep mode

2022-05-17 Thread Chris Guiver
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.

Your log indicates you installed Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, are still using it
and haven't upgraded to a later release such as Ubuntu kinetic using
Ubuntu-release-upgrader. I've thus changed package to gnome-shell.
(apologies if still an incorrect package)

** Package changed: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell
(Ubuntu)

[Bug 1973843] Re: upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04 failed

2022-05-17 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-standard-support on April 29, 2021.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested
in discussing it any more. But if you are then please install a fully
supported release of Ubuntu and re-test. If you then find the bug is
still present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here
telling us which new version it is in.

Ubuntu 16.04 is in Extended Support; so if you're using ESM you can use
your ESM support options.

I've marked this issue as "incomplete" as it appears to me you're asking
for support. You've filed this bug as an installer issue (against the
`ubiquity` installer) which isn't installed as the install completed
successfully. If you believe I'm in error, you can return status to
"New" after leaving a comment explaining why. The package would need
change.

A better option maybe turning this filed bug report into a Launchpad
Question, which is geared for support purposes.

The time for lubuntu kinetic actually beat a comparison time of one of
an old hp.dc7700 I use heaps in QA-testing.

> This prompts another test request @ Chris Guiver:
> Does it help to remove MBR partition 2 similarly to what i proposed a year

I performed the command

`sudo dd if=/dev/zero bs=1 count=16 of=/dev/sdb conv=notrunc seek=462`

to Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 LTS thumb-drive (K)

Booted on j3400

(note: times for BOOT1 will be ~3-8 secs slower than reported due my-
error operating phone-stopwatch)

BOOT1:
(I won't give times as I can't be sure which are which)
00:18, 00:27, 01:57, 02:18, 02:45
HOWEVER either way it was fully-operational at 2 min 45 secs (or 3-8 secs after
that anyway)

system just rebooted (alt-sysreq+reisub)

BOOT2:
00:25 screen clears & message(s)
00:28 plymouth seen
02:17 maybe-ubiquity; try/install selection (I may have been a tad slow here
in selecting try)
02:41 (i forget sorry)
03:11 system fully-operational

Maybe my [estimated] 3-8 secs is inaccurate; but I'd suggest it was
similar.

FYI: If you need more testing; just ask (or I miss anything I was
asked).. I'll boot the thumb-drive on a few boxes to confirm no issues
with the

I'll go & boot the thumb-drive on some boxes to ensure it's usable
elsewhere.. I'll edit this and add boxes it was tested on (I'm not
expecting any issues)

It booted successfully on
- hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)

BUT FAILED TO BOOT on
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)

[Bug 1922342] Re: Impish live session takes ages to boot on BIOS systems

2022-05-16 Thread Chris Guiver
I grabbed my phone (stopwatch app) & lubuntu (kinetic; what was used
last time) thumb-drive & timed a boot of Lubuntu kinetic (no new write
of ISO)

Purpose:
> (#102) Are those times stable or do they vary by minutes ?

I hoped it would be a re-creation of #92 (but didn't read was there so
it wouldn't influence result), alas I didn't use stopwatch then & didn't
note which option I used

> (#92) I didn't set up stopwatch to time correctly; but room clock said
13:16 at start of boot, and system was fully functional just as it hit
13:22

ie. system operation in ~5 mins (<5 I believe as clock had just flipped
13:22 as it appeared), but I didn't say if persistent OR live was used.

OPTION USED THIS TIME = LIVE only (not persistent)

BOOT 1: LIVE
started stopwatch as I pressed ENTER at grub
by 2 mins 43 secs the system appeared functional

BOOT2: LIVE
00:25 secs & screen blanks & messages
00:35 plymouth visible
01:11 message(s) again & plymouth gone
02:23 system fully-operational

BOOT3: LIVE
00:29 secs & screen blanks & messages
00:35 plymouth visible
01:10 message(s) again & plymouth gone
02:25 system fully-operational

BOOT4: PERSISTENCE
00:27 secs & screen blanks & messages
00:34 plymount visible
01:41 message(s) again & plymouth gone
03:06 system fully-operational

(boot 4 and there was a longer delay between wallpaper being drawn & the
menu responding to wacom-pen or SUPER key being pressed & menu appearing
which is what I use to detect 'fully-operational)

Boot 2 & 3 are identical; any differences will be me needing to press
the screen on the phone more than once to get it to register 'lap' time.

Re-creating test #101 using Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 LTS (comment #101)

> - 00:09 enter pressed at GRUB
> - 08:06 screen blacked
> - 08:20 ubuntu plymouth first appeared
> - 09:52 plymouth is gone, system text message appears
> - 10:10 maybe-ubiquity TRY INSTALL prompt
> - 10:37 system fully operational

(I started time at ENTER PRESSED at GRUB, so 9 secs difference expected)

08:01 screen blanked
08:08 ubuntu plymouth first appeared
09:41 plymouth is gone, system text message(s) appear
10:08 maybe-ubiquity; TRY/INSTALL prompt
10:55 system fully operational

Times here start out consistent (9 secs difference expected as I started
time with right hand as I hit enter at grub with left, last time it was
when I saw 'grub' prior to grub.menu appearing), however at MAYBE-
UBIQUITY times differed a bit.. and final-operational differs well
beyond any user/me error(s)

Picking when a system is 'fully operational' is subjective, so a few
secs difference can be just me using wacom-pen touching screen OR
hitting SUPER at the right sec, versus a short delay (as I'm not hitting
key/pen rapidly), but we have ~30 secs difference (10mins37secs-9sec
10m55s?)

> (#102) Are those times stable or do they vary by minutes ?

To me as a user they feel ~stable; but BOOT 1 of Lubuntu LIVE was slower
than BOOTS 2 & 3 (which were consistent; boot 4 was different mode)..
and some some times of Ubuntu Desktop were identical; but by end they
differed beyond I believe could be me.

They don't vary by minutes though in my opinion; secs like this is all
I've generally noted (and some of those secs are likely me/dog; hitting
my phone with the wacom pen for the device instead of my finger as I did
on last test; I can't see that adding 20 secs though! etc)

[Bug 1973565] Re: Upgrade to 21.10 not working

2022-05-16 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It looks to me that Unofficial software packages (not provided by
Ubuntu) have been added to your system, many from Tuxedo Computers.

Foreign: beekeeper-studio containerd.io docker-ce docker-ce-cli docker-
ce-rootless-extras docker-scan-plugin firmware-sof-signed helm linux-

Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu, can be removed
using 'ppa-purge' from the ppa-purge package to remove software from a
Launchpad PPA and try the upgrade again.

I've marked this 'incomplete', as this issue appears to be created by
3rd party packages (was it a Ubuntu install? or a respin from tuxedo?).
If you believe I'm in error, you can return status to 'New' after
leaving a message explaining why, or what I've missed.

[Bug 1922342] Re: Impish live session takes ages to boot on BIOS systems

2022-05-15 Thread Chris Guiver
Booting the released image of Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 LTS

- 00:00 word 'GRUB' appeared on screen (where I started stopwatch, so
these results will be ~10 secs slower sorry)

- 00:09 enter pressed at GRUB
- 08:06 screen blacked
- 08:20 ubuntu plymouth first appeared
- 09:52 plymouth is gone, system text message appears
- 10:10 maybe-ubiquity TRY INSTALL prompt
- 10:37 system fully operational

quick comparison with comment #90
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/1922342/comments/90)
shows ~minute longer to be fully functional; given a 1-5 secs gets lost
as touch 'try ubuntu' it's still longer

lubuntu (jammy) plymouth seen at 7:27 (#90)

[Bug 1922342] Re: Impish live session takes ages to boot on BIOS systems

2022-05-14 Thread Chris Guiver
I just booted Lubuntu kinetic daily on
- motion computing j3400 (c2d-u9400, 4gb, intel mobile 4 series)

I didn't set up stopwatch to time correctly; but room clock said 13:16
at start of boot, and system was fully functional just as it hit 13:22,
which is way faster than comment #90 on same box with jammy ISO.

The ISO wasn't cloned to thumb-drive; but written using

`sudo -H dus-iso2usb kinetic-desktop-amd64.iso /dev/sdb msdos grub-2.0.4
persistent`

guiverc@d960-ubu2:/de2900/lubuntu_64$ apt-cache policy mkusb
mkusb:
  Installed: 22.0.1-1ubuntu2
  Candidate: 22.0.1-1ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 22.0.1-1ubuntu2 500
500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/mkusb/unstable/ubuntu kinetic/main amd64
Packages

This comparison isn't complete; as different ISOs used (jammy vs kinetic) &
different writes (clone/dd vs mkusb-altered), but noted here.

[Bug 1973393] Re: auto go to left or first page

2022-05-14 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The Brave browser is a 3rd party browser, and problems with that browser
should be reported to the developers of the application.

You mention the Ubuntu workspace, but which you like mean `gnome-shell`.
If it's occurring in other application besides the 3rd party brave-
browser it's not clear to me sorry.

I've marked this incomplete due to issue being with 3rd party package.
If the issue occurs within GNOME-SHELL or other windows and not just the
brave-browser; please return the status to "New" and change the package
to 'gnome-shell'.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate in future, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

[Bug 1886129] Re: xubuntu : displays have become blank & unusable

2022-05-13 Thread Chris Guiver
I agree it sounds like nouveau. That box has issues with the 5.13/5.15
kernel with GNOME, KDE with nouveau on occasion, and has for a few
releases now (22.04, 21.10 & possible earlier).. but was always good
with Lubuntu/Xubuntu (I really use it now only for install tests & have
been thinking of switching out video card)

I booted Xubuntu 22.04 LTS on the box the bug report was made on
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)

the external drive is no longer present, so I instead `apt install nfs-
common` & mounted a NFS share for the random video files. Display setup
was adjusted to match my setup (one screen above the other), then thunar
navigated to various directories containing video files, and them
dragged to an open parole player.

The parole player was adjusted (window size), dragged around, maximized,
un-maximized, full-screen, normal, then another video file dragged to
it. This was repeated many times with many different files (may not have
been the same file type).

I did NOT re-create that issue.

ALTERNATE/DIFFERENT ISSUE:

I did have a case where a new video was started (mp4) in the existing
player, the player was dragged to the other screen, then made to be
full-screen; the controls went to the bottom of the screen, but the
movie-picture did not increase in size; remaining the same identical
size/shape as before the 'f' for full-screen was commanded (ie. picture
remained small window size).

If I hit 'f' again to return it to normal size; it would return to
normal, hit 'f' again and it properly went to full size (controls at
bottom of screen and video-picture using all of screen size)...
hitting 'f' repeatedly to return to window, then back to full-screen
(not pressing 'f' quickly; giving it time to cope given this box is
old/slow) & the issue of black-background, controls at the bottom but
video-picture remaining window-size would re-occur every so often (3rd
time, 5th time, 11th time, 12th time, .. On some occasions the small
video-picture had the rest of the display black, other times the
wallpaper & thunar window was still evident.

That however is a different issue.. and again maybe nouveau related so I'm
going to ignore unless requested to file a new bug against it (where I'll try
& re-create it & explore further, inc. on another box [hp 8200])

[Bug 1973114] Re: Key trust verification fails on Ubuntu 22.04

2022-05-12 Thread Chris Newcomer
Validation of package in Kinetic. The validation was run on Jammy with
the Kinetic package installed:

I have confirmed the bug on a 22.04 image running on AWS:

When upgrading the package on the same instance with the one from Kinetic (with

[Bug 1973126] Re: crash ubiquity during installing Lubuntu 22.04

2022-05-12 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Lubuntu 22.04 LTS is tested & supported only using the `calamares`
installer.

As such I've marked this bug report as 'invalid'. If you believe I'm in
error, please leave a comment explaining why, and the status can be
returned to 'new'.

FYI: I checked both Lubuntu's jammy manifest & booted a live system and
no `ubiquity` was installed.

[Bug 1970408] Re: brltty package disconnecting ttyUSB0 used for Arduino

2022-05-09 Thread Chris Keller
This is currently preventing me from using a Digirig Mobile amatuer
radio interface device, which uses the 10c4:ea60 Silicon Labs CP210x
UART Bridge. Pop_OS depends on brltty so I can't remove the package.
However, I was able to follow comment #2:

Edit /etc/brltty.conf, and add line:

```
braille-device usb::
```

This points brltty as a particular nonexistent device and prevents it
from trying to take over the USB serial device.

[Bug 1972130] Re: saveas switches to search option when changing name

2022-05-09 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

You filed the issue as related to the `do-release-upgrade` that upgraded
you to 22.04 ~9 days before; once you've rebooted & logged into the new
system, the ubuntu-release-upgrade tool's job was completed
successfully. You also mention two non-Ubuntu products which should
have bugs filed elsewhere (vivaldi, chrome). I suggest support. (FYI:
Ubuntu Unity support is mostly on telegram (it's an unofficial remix);
refer https://ubuntuunity.org/ )

[Bug 1972085] Re: cannot wake from suspend must force shutdown and reboot

2022-05-08 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The suspend function is not performed in the do-release-upgrade step you
have filed this bug against (which was also run/completed 15 days ago).

[Bug 1971673] Re: Xenial powerpc repositories missing

2022-05-05 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-standard-support on April 29, 2021.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested
in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the
latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still
present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling
us which new version it is in. FYI: You'll need to be using ppc64el
for later releases, which was the only powerpc architecture supported
from 16.04/xenial & later (it won't run on your old mac mini)

ppc wasn't a fully supported architecture for xenial; being community
supported only - please refer https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCFAQ

[Bug 1969984] Re: [SRU] Kubuntu Plymouth Theme Shows Badly on Multi-Screen

2022-05-03 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Michael, or anyone else affected,

Accepted kubuntu-settings into jammy-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-
settings/1:22.04.10 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

as well. In addition, I can confirm that an upgrade from the UCA Train
version of ceph-mds to bionic-ussuri (proposed, verified with:
15.2.16-0ubuntu0.20.04.1~cloud0) or to focal (proposed, verified with:
15.2.16-0ubuntu0.20.04.1) works as expected, and the upgrade progresses
correctly.

Re: [Bug 1970807] Re: Incompatible graphmath.ppu unit

2022-04-30 Thread Chris Hall
I had the problem when trying to compile form1 on ubuntu 22.04 (jammy)
that had been upgraded from 21.10 (impish). The upgrade removed lazarus
and fpc from my machine and I had to re-install lazarus. Whatever the
package install process does, it puts an incompatible graphmath.ppu in
your .lazarus directory structure. Removing that ppu solves the problem
as then lazarus seems to use the unit in the usr/lib directory
structure. This bug occurred on 2 separate machines.

You've filed this bug report as related to the upgrade process that
migrated you from 21.10 to 22.04, which you're now appear to be running;
thus it worked. You also mention google-chrome; which is a 3rd party
(Google product) app and thus bugs with google-chrome should be filed
with google.

I've marked this bug as incomplete. If you believe I'm in error, you can
return the status to "New" after leaving a message describing your
clearly.

You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you!

[Bug 1965882] Re: [nouveau] External monitor plugged into (secondary) Nvidia GPU is all white (plus a little flicker)

2022-04-28 Thread Chris Monahan
I think what you are saying is that nouveau is not maintained by Ubuntu.
I am just curious if Ubuntu made a config changed that caused this
issue, or if it was an update to nouveau itself. I personally like
nouveau because it allows automatic graphics switching, and the last
time I tried the native Nvidia drivers, it ate a lot of battery.

[Bug 1970707] Re: unable to install new version of '/usr/share/themes/Pop-dark/gtk-3.20/gtk.css': No such file or directory

2022-04-28 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

The error message states "No apport report written because the error
message indicates an issue on the local system"

[Bug 1970677] Re: switching keyboard layout is unreliable

2022-04-28 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it
will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1970677

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

** Description changed:

Since a few day I've updated to Ubuntu Mate 22.04 with the firefox snap.
Since then I've been having this strange bug. I have a 4k screen which
I'm running at a 2180p resolution with scaling on HiDPI. This runs just
fine except for in firefox. In the new firefox snap I get a really tiny
mouse cursor. I also checked other snap, it is not the case there.

  Regards,
  Chris
