I have the same/similar problem. The mouse pointer disappears ocassionally. I have not yet identified the cause. Oops, forgot one key point in above post. I am not suspending the laptop or closing the lid. [Bug 636224] [NEW] pitivi rendering useless to newbies
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pitivi I have just started to use pitivi which came in Ubuntu 10.4. I wanted to do a simple edit of some video. After a little fiddling, I figured out how to do it. Then I went to output my video. Up pops a massive choice menu with thousands of possible permutations. I have been trying for 2 days now to find a combination that works properly. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Fresh install of Lucid 10.4.1 - Here is my cheat sheet for setting up VLC: sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/vlc.desktop Change Exec=vlc %U to Exec=vlc --vout-filter deinterlace --deinterlace-mode blend --volume 1024 --fullscreen %U Synaptic Package Manager- mozilla-plugin-vlc Synaptic Package Manager- libdvdcss2 File Browser - Edit - Preferences - Media DVD Video: Open VLC media player sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/defaults.list Replace all totem with vlc Right-click an iso movie file - Properties - Open With Select VLC media player In Karmic, when I double click a DVD iso image, the movie starts full screen immediately. In Lucid, it appears that VLC starts the movie full screen, then it quickly disappears, the VLC program window shows up for a brief second, then the movie starts full screen and plays normally. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox I do not know if this is a bug or a feature request. When I try to start Rhythmbox using a playlist, it loads then exits immediately. Steps to create th problem: 1. Save a playlist to a file 2. Close Rhythmbox. 3. Navigate with file browser to saved .pls file 4. Right click Open with Rhythmbox Music Player 5. Rhythmbox loads then immediately exits Open with VLC media player works but has minor audio playback problems.
