In some cases, this can cost above 5 seconds of my precious time :). I think this is a driver issue, I use the proprietary Nvidia drivers (Geforce 6150). I use Ubuntu Hardy Heron. I use Firefox 3.0. i expect it will immediately render the selection, like the Windows version does.
