[Bug 1290666] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 (Alpha Release) - VNC not working

2014-03-31 Thread Demetris Lambrou
I had the similar problem with Fedora 20, gnome 3.12 and I was able to
find a workaround and was able to work hipporemote. I think that the
same workaround will work with Ubuntu 14.04 but not sure you could try.

I used dconf-editor and under org.gnome.desktop.remote-access you will
find a key require-encryption that it is turn on as a default. I turned
that on and it was working for me. Under ubuntu 14.04 maybe is
gnome.desktop.remote-access but I am not sure. Just search require-
encryption in dconf and disable it if is turned on and it might help.

[Bug 225782] [NEW] Images dragged and dropped from Firefox are re-downloaded

2008-05-02 Thread demetris
Public bug reported:

When I drag and drop an image from Firefox to the desktop (or to a
folder in Nautilus), the image is redownloaded. It is not noticeable
with small images. However, the bigger the image, the more noticeable
it becomes. It happens with both versions of Ubuntu desktop, 32bit and
64bit.

To replicate this behaviour:

1. Open in Fx an image that is large for your internet connection.
2. Once the image has loaded, drag and drop it in a folder in Nautilus.

(As a reference, in Firefox 3 on Windows XP images seem to be read from
the cache, and drag-and-drop is as quick as copy/paste.)

[Bug 212469] [NEW] ttf-gfs-* Greek fonts not recognized by OOo and Abiword

2008-04-05 Thread demetris
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ttf-gfs-artemisia

Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
ttf-gfs-artemisia 1.0-1
ttf-gfs-complutum 1.000-1

I installed these fonts via Synaptic in 8.04 and they are not recognized
by OpenOffice and Abiword (Gedit sees the fonts, which leads me to
believe that the fonts were installed properly and the font cache is up-
to-date).

Looking at the font paths:

/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-gfs-artemisia
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-gfs-complutum

... I see that these are OpenType only, notTrue Type.

Most gfs (Greek Fonts Society) fonts also come in TrueType form:

http://www.greekfontsociety.gr/pages/gr_typefaces20th.html

I have installed a number of them manually (the TrueType variety) and
they are recognized by both OpenOffice and Abiword.

[Bug 209072] Re: A large icon in "add/remove applivations"

Another way to trigger this is to sort applications by popularity by
clicking on the column header.

The huge Network Manager icon breaks alignment, so that app names and
short descriptions almost disappear (see attached picture).

[Bug 205621] [NEW] Empty Trash dialogs are not consistent

2008-03-23 Thread demetris
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
Nautilus 2.22.0
Trash Applet 2.22.0

When selecting "Empty Trash" by right-clicking on the Trash Applet, the
answers to the question "Empty all of the items from the trash?" are:
"Cancel" and "Empty Trash"

When clicking on "Empty Trash" from within Nautilus, the answers to the
same question are: "Cancel" and "Delete".

I find "Delete" confusing in this context, and, in any case, I think the
options should be the same in both instances, since the question and the
explanation are the same.

Also, "of the" in ""Empty all OF THE items from the trash?" seems
redundant to me, but I'm not a native speaker, so I can't tell with any
certainty.

[Bug 195384] [NEW] Firefox3, Epiphany, monospace font instead of proportional, Hardy Alpha 5
