It would already help/ fix it for me if somebody could tell me where to put the mentioned iwconfig command in order to have it fix the issue automatically on every reboot. I tried in /etc/rc.local and as a script in /etc/network/if-up.d/, but both don't have effect. Public bug reported: Yesterday I noticed that my Internet connection keeps transferring a lot of data. After a while I checked with nethogs and discovered this was caused by Thunderbird. Today I got a warning that my HDD was near full. In this 2 days, the mailbox had grown to 20 GB, while in reality it should be around 1 GB (a fresh zipped backup has 600 MB). I removed the .thunderbird folder and configured my IMAP mailbox from scratch. The same happened again. I think this is not related to a somehow special configuration of my PC bcs my colleague discovered it's the same on his machine. Without checking, he wouldn't have noticed yet bcs of a much bigger HDD... We couldn't yet find out what exactly happens / which data is transferred again and again. I suspect it's related to the last thunderbird update. Having the same problem on a Thinkpad T410s, also Intel graphics (Core i5). I just tried to create a core dump, following the instructions of Lasse. However when trying to reproduce the crash, I had a total lockup, with hard reset needed. Update: I found a file _usr_bin_Xorg.0.crash in /var/crash which contains a lot of useful information, including a core dump (so I think). Happens mainly during wakeup, but not only. I was running 12.04 for several weeks without this issue before. + Initially I thought this is the same as #1026777, but the segfault seems to occur in a different function. It happened again. This time I was running the stock kernel 3.2.0-27-generic in order to make sure it's not related to using a different kernel. It happened after working about 1 hour. I couldn't reproduce it anymore with kernel 3.3.0. Now I upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 and switched back to the default kernel, also no problems yet. Public bug reported: The following issue occured several times over the last month with Ubuntu 11.10 x86_64, kernel 3.0.0-16-generic. It happened from the beginning (3.0.0-15). I didn't have this Computer before, so I don't know if the issue is specific to this Ubuntu / kernel version. Sometimes, after waking up from suspend, single remote hosts are not reachable. It may be the first host the system tries to connect to (or may be the last one connected to before susped), but I'm not sure about that. not reachable means there's no route. It's not a DNS issue because trying to ping the IP itself also fails. Example ping output: $ ping 80.237.133.28 PING 80.237.133.28 (80.237.133.28) 56(84) bytes of data. From 78.104.151.116 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable ... at the same time: $ ping google.com PING google.com (209.85.148.139) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from fra07s07-in-f139.1e100.net (209.85.148.139): icmp_req=1 ttl=57 time=15.3 ms ... here, 78.104.151.116 is my own IP in this network. The destination IP is definitely reachable, I can reach it at the same moment on a different machine in the same network. Or from my own machine if I first ssh to another machine and connect from there. The issue is hardly a network interface driver issue, because this already happened with both WiFi and Ethernet connection. It looks like the issue doesn't happen in all networks. In my home network it didn't happen yet, but already in two other networks. I don't know what makes the difference. As I said, the issue is isolated to single destination hosts. At the same time, the connection works normally for all other destinations. I could solve this only by reboot up to now. Things I tried: - restart networking - suspend / wakeup again - disconnect / reconnect network interface - switch network interface (WiFi / Ethernet) - ip route flush cache - ip neigh flush all I am no networking expert, but a sysadmin of the university network took a look at my Computer when the issue appeared. He couldn't find out the reason, but suspected it to be a kernel issue. I am also affected by this bug. All my efforts to work around this without building all (vlc, ffmpeg, x264) from source failed. The reason is that the current vlc package in order to support H.264 depends on libavcodec-extra-52 which itself depends on libx264-85. Thus, even manually installing libx264-96 from a non-Ubuntu repository (which should have the fix to this bug) didn't help. In KDE 3 that always worked fine and also was correctly restored after reboots. [Bug 524650] [NEW] kmix volume slider popup sometimes stuck
Public bug reported: When clicking the kmix icon in systray, a small window with basically only volume slider appears. Normally, when clicking the icon a 2nd time or when clicking anywhere else, this small window disappears. But sometimes that's not the case for me, that means the window just stays there, no matter what I do. The only way I found to get rid of it in that situation is to click the mixer button. Then the mixer window opens and the small volume window finally disappears. I didn't yet find any pattern of when that occurs or how to reproduce, seems random. [Bug 524466] Re: konsole tab names are lost randomly
I understand. I used the possibility to report directly from within the affected programs, because that way needed info about my config is automatically attached. What about this bug report now after invalidation? Will it be thrown away? If so, I wonder. Why isn't it forwarded to KDE (maybe automatically)?
