[Bug 70150] Can't use installed k7 kernel

2006-11-03 Thread digimars
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-k7

I have tried to install the linux-image-k7 via synaptic, which it says
that it installed. But when I reboot my machine, Grub doesn't show the
new kernel, only the default i386 kernel.

So after I booted into Edgy, I checked to make sure that the k7 kernel
was installed:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Desktop$ sudo apt-get install linux-k7
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
linux-k7 is already the newest version.

So then I made sure that Grub was correct, which it didn't show a K7
kernel.

Testing for an existing GRUB menu.list file ... found: /boot/grub/menu.lst
Searching for splash image ... none found, skipping ...
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.17-10-generic
Found kernel: /boot/memtest86+.bin
Updating /boot/grub/menu.lst ... done

The K7 kernel isn't there.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/boot$ ls
abi-2.6.17-10-generic initrd.img-2.6.17-10-generic
vmlinuz-2.6.17-10-generic
config-2.6.17-10-generic memtest86+.bin
grub System.map-2.6.17-10-generic

Synaptic says that it is installed, but it is not there and Grub doesn't show
it.
