[Bug 669731] Re: Soundcard not detected (Actually driver not loaded because of symbol confusion)
In 2.6.23-24 cat /proc/asound/version indicates 1.0.21... Under 2.6.23-25 I have 1.0.23 which I believe I compiled myself, but I thought I did it before the kernel update i.e. under 2.6.23-24. It would make some sense that the updated kernel would lead to the symbol confusion... I will try re-installing the latest alsa version. Hopefully that is the problem. -- Soundcard not detected (Actually driver not loaded because of symbol confusion) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669731 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hello- I removed the files and used alsamixer to mute the IEC958 mixer. This did not fix the issue. I tried to restart alsa (/etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart)and got this: * Shutting down ALSA... [ OK ] * Setting up ALSA... * warning: 'alsactl restore' failed with error message 'alsactl: set_control:1389: Cannot write control '2:0:0:IEC958 Front Playback Volume:0' : Operation not permitted alsactl: set_control:1389: Cannot write control '2:0:0:IEC958 Playback Switch:0' : Operation not permitted alsactl: set_control:1389: Cannot write control '3:0:0:IEC958 Playback Default:1' : Operation not permitted'... amixer: Invalid command! This did not fix the issue, and upon using alsamixer again the IEC958 mixer is 'ON' again. Should I try a different method to mute it? [Bug 206280] Re: [hardy] Error opening config file: /etc/sensors.conf
skrimpy- If you run 'xsensors' and you get a tiny minimized-looking window that is blank when you expand the bug is fixed. This is NOT the bug. This simply means that you either don't have the sensors setup or they don't exist for your hardware- try sudo sensors-detect as was mentioned. The bug is that if you run xsensors it will fail to launch and say: u...@user-desktop:~$ xsensors Error opening config file: /etc/sensors.conf Use -c option to specify location of lm_sensors configuration file. In my case it would be 'xsensors -c /etc/sensors3.conf' and I got the empty window even after running sudo sensors-detect. As far as my process, its been quite a few months now but I think I applied the jaunty patch after downloading it from this page, and after applying the patch, the only difference is I didn't have to use the -c option. Based on your results, it sounds like you properly patched it, you just may not have realized it since the behavior afterwards was not what was expected. Hope that helps. -- [hardy] Error opening config file: /etc/sensors.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/206280 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
