[Bug 87966] Re: GNU Screen: 256 colors not enabled

2010-02-15 Thread dj3
In Ubuntu 256 colors are not enabled by default, sorry. Here is how I
did it: install the "ncurses-term" package and than put the line "export
TERM=xterm-256color" in your .bashrc file. Log out, log in. Now you
should get in any terminal (gnome, xterm):

~$ tput colors
256

I don't see any bugs.

[Bug 87966] Re: GNU Screen: 256 colors not enabled

My terminal can display 256 colors by default:

In order to get vim in gnome-terminal to display colorschemes the same
way as the GUI version I used the plugin CSApprox:

On how to use it and some further discussion on the topic of using 256

The version from the PPA still does produce a "GLib-WARNING **. The
problem is with vim 7.2 release and it is already fixed, there is a
patch on www.vim.org.

I report having successfully build vim from source including all the
latest official patches using aap

the package "aap" should be installd beforehand lkewise all the build
dependencies "apt-get build-dep vim-gnome")

and do not observe any warnings or erros in the console when I start
gvim. I hope this will help to somebody.

[Bug 196277] Re: A GNOME login without keypress dosn't set GNOME keyboard settings

2009-02-26 Thread dj3
Yesterday (2009-02-25) I switched back to Hardy from Intrepid. To my suprise,
the keyboard switching works after reboot correctly: abcdABCD, абвгАБВГ. I have
not been using Hardy for long, so one of the 200 updates might have fixed the
problem.
I attach my working xorg.conf. It was (re-)generated by aticonfig via sudo
aticonfig --initial -f. Good luck!

[Bug 244207] Re: the text scrolls up after clicking a HTML link in e-mail text

2008-07-02 Thread dj3
i could reproduce the problem on SuSe 10.3, so that it seems to be a
problem with Evolution in general.

as you requested, i forwarded the bug to bugzilla.gnome.org
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=541289). maybe this will
help.

the problem occures in long e-mails, such as newsletters (see "Golem"
attached above). as soon as you click a link, say at the bottom, the
text jumps to the top of the message. try it. i click "open in browser"
in the context menue instead of clicking links directly as simple
workaround.

[Bug 230709] [NEW] There is a minor mistake in German translation in Hardi 04.08

2008-05-15 Thread dj3
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

There is a spelling mistake in the German translation of "brasero
0.3.1-3ubuntu1" on Hardi 04.08 64bit.
The question in the dialog box whether brasero should be the default CD burning
application is:

"Möchten Sie das Brasero das voreingestellte Programm wird um
Daten-CD/DVDs zu brennen?"

To my knowledge it should rather be (too comas are required + a double
"s"):

"Möchten Sie, dass Brasero das voreingestellte Programm wird, um

[Bug 226518] [NEW] After a reboot: corrupted keyboard layout

2008-05-04 Thread dj3
Public bug reported:

I have discovered a bug in Hardi 8.04: the settings of a secondary keyboard
layout get corrupted after a reboot.
How to observe / to reproduce:

1) Add a secondary keyboard layout via "system | settings | keyboard". My
primary layout was “German” and I added “Russia Winkeys”.
2) Everything works fine until you reboot. After a reboot, the German layout
works properly but the secondary layout, in my case “Russia Winkeys”, produces
weired stuff (see a sample in attachment).

The only thing I can do is to delete “Russia Winkeys” and add the same
layout again. Thus everything works till next reboot. I have a standard
USB keyboard (Cherry G80-3000). Hopefully this will help.

[Bug 209303] Re: "totem-xine" does not conflict with "totem-gstreamer"

2008-04-05 Thread dj3
I'm sorry, making totem-xine and totem-gstreamer installable together was
deliberate indeed.
If there is an option which library to use with Totem Movie Player, either
Gstreamer or Xine, then it's a really good idea.

But I couldn't figure out a way how to choose between totem-gstreamer
and totem-xine when both packages were installed together, so I
suspected a minor problem here. Not everybody will come up with the idea
to uninstall totem-gstreamer in order to use freshly installed totem-
xine, I think.

In Hardy Beta 1 "totem-xine" does not conflict with "totem-gstreamer"

[Bug 162287] Re: cm-super depends on tetex AND texlive

The same problem on Ubuntu 7.10 -- strange dependencies of "cm-super"
package:

"tetex-base, tetex-bin, tetex-extra, texlive, texlive-bibtex-extra,
texlive-font-utils, texlive-lang-* (all languages), texlive-latex-

So I have downloaded Debian package "cm-super"

on "cm-super-minimal" which I have downloaded and installed as well. So
far no problems.

[Bug 133376] Re: Gutsy Gibbon (1): Samsung ML 2010 error

2007-08-19 Thread dj3
Hello, thanks for your suggestion. I've followed the instructions on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems, the results are in
the attachment. My steps:

1. started the live CD (Gibbon);
2. got installed Samsung ML 2010 (this time everything ran well);
3. tried a print job (a couple of letters from gedit: “file | print | ML-2010
| OK”);
4. nothing happened;
5. then I did the tests described in the wiki following the instructions step
by step (see attachment). To my surprise, while making the tests the printer
started to print the job I sent to it a couple of minutes beforehand.
6. then I've repeated the all the procedure once again but this time everything
failed again. The jobs are pending all the time. The results of the second test
are here:

[Bug 133376] Re: Gutsy Gibbon (1): Samsung ML 2010 error

2007-08-19 Thread dj3
Hello,

for some reason I cannot reproduce the bug, since the printer doesn't
become recognized under Gibbon. Nevertheless I attach the the bug info
as you wished.

I can't figure out what I did wrong. I have never had any problems with
ML-2010 neither under Feisty nor under Debian Etch. However, under
Debian Testing and Gutsy Gibbon the printer "strikes" somehow.

Maybe there is a problem with my hardware. Yesterday I got the printer
installed but it printed the messages cited above, so I reported the bug. Today
I could install the printer after having booted Gibbon from the Live CD and it
printed fine. But after installation on the hard disk the system can't find the
printer as you can see in the bug info.
Than I installed all updates and tried again with the same result. I've also
tested it with different USB cables but it didn't help either. Should I raise
the issue on the forum? Or maybe some packages are missing? But I did the
default installation.

Best regards,
Dimitri Jakobi

[Bug 109568] Writer 2.2 crashes predictably on mscore fonts when doing this:

2007-04-24 Thread dj3
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I use Ubuntu 7.04 32 bit. After having installed Microsoft true type
fonts (via synaptic) I can reproduce a crash of Writer 2.2 / German
(Ubuntu package) through doing the following mudane thing:

1. Open a new Writer document
2. Select "Times New Roman" or "Arial" if you like
3. Type a youple of random characters, e. g. "gjhgjhg"
4. go to "Insert | Special character | Times New Roman"
5. Just mark one x1 and then scroll a bit with the wheel of the mouse up and
down

=> The result: OpenOffice crashes.

I have Athlon 3000+, 512 MB RAM, Gigabyte nForce3, 83 MB HD on one of my
machines, and Athlon 3500+, 1024 MB RAM, MSI nForce5 on another machine.
The crash of Writer can be reproduced on either machine.

I hope this will help.
Best regards
dj3
