[Bug 309893] [NEW] CD/DVD Creator fails without information on ISO 9660 incompatible directory

2008-12-19 Thread dmh309
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus-cd-burner

When attempting to create a DVD with a directory structure that is not ISO 9660
compliant (specifically, more than six nested directories), the CD/DVD Creator
built into Nautilus
  1) indicates an error occurred but provides no details when writing directly
to disc
  2) closes during initialization without warning when writing to .iso image

Affects nautilus-cd-burner 2.24.0-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 8.10
2.6.27-9-generic.

To replicate
  1) create a non-empty file with 6 nested directories, such as:
 a/b/c/d/e/f/g/h/file
  2) launch CD/DVD Creator and add the top-most folder a/
  3) click Write to Disc, select Write disc to: File image, click Ok
  4) select to location to save the .iso image and click Ok
  5) A progress indicator will appear and disappear, no .iso image is written,
no warning given

Replace step 3) with writing to Disc. In step 5), the progress
indicator states an error has occurred without any details.

The user should receive more details about the error. Brasero indicates
which directories are deeply nested. CD/DVD Creator should do the same.

** Affects: nautilus-cd-burner (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 296695] Re: Pidgin doesn't auto-relogin when internet connection crashes

2008-11-12 Thread dmh309
Thank you for reporting this bug. I tried to replicate this bug by
disabling my network connection. After doing so, the buddy list goes
blank and provides an error message with a reconnect button. After re-
enabling the network connection, Pidgin automatically detects the
connection and logs in. Any open IM windows will display the recipient
as (Offline) and I am unable to send messages. I'm using Pidgin
1:2.5.2-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 8.10 2.6.27-7-generic.

Can you replicate this bug by manually disabling and re-enabling your
network connection, or does it only occur for crashes? When your
Internet connection crashes, do you see any of the behavior I described
above? Do you see the disconnected message with the reconnect button,
or does Pidgin appear to be still connected?

I made this a dup of bug #295103 because there is already a long thread

little discussion of the significantly longer cold startup time. Feel
free to undo this change if you feel it isn't appropriate.

[Bug 292641] [NEW] Open with Other Application not remembering selection

2008-11-02 Thread dmh309
Public bug reported:

The Open with Other Application item in the right-click menu used to
remember which application you selected for a given file extension
(Ubuntu 8.04). After installing 8.10, it seems to no longer remember
which application I selected.

To reproduce:
  1) Create a test file with an extension (e.g., test.asdf)
  2) Double-click test.asdf to open file (remember what program was used)
  3) Right-click test.asdf file, select Open with Other Application item in
menu, select a different program to view the file
  4) Double-click test.asdf to open file (this still uses the program from step
2))

Note that after step 3), the right-click menu is modified to show the
new program, but it is not used by default when double-clicking as in

I would suggest then adding a checkbox on the Open with Other

straightforward than having to change Open With in the file properties.

[Bug 292897] [NEW] compiz - hiding cube caps

2008-11-02 Thread dmh309
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

This may instead deal with package compizconfig-settings-manager
(0.7.8-0ubuntu3), python-compizconfig (0.7.8-0ubuntu1). Running Ubuntu
8.10.

Trying to figure out how to make cube caps transparent using the
CompizConfig Setting Manager. In Desktop Cube, user can specify cube
cap color, but the opacity parameter has no effect. (*)

In Cube Reflection and Deformation, the Cube Top Color and Cube Bottom
Color opacity works, but it also displays an image. Deleting the Top
Image Files and Bottom Images Files does not remove the images.
Disabling Draw Top Face and Draw Bottom Face turns off rendering the
images, but the color from (*) is displayed.

In 8.4, disabling the Draw Top/Bottom Face worked correctly.
