[Bug 1098314] Re: pg_num inappropriately low on new pools
You can set "osd pool default pg num" and "osd pool default pgp num" to some higher value in your ceph.conf before creating pools if you want some higher values than the default and do not want to specify it on the command line every time. For more complex setups however, you want to match the pg count specific to your pool requirements anyway, so the usefulness of this approach is limited. Rather use a tool like http://ceph.com/pgcalc/ to tune your cluster to your requirements. Finally, you can increase the pg count for existing pools without having to remove them, but you cannot decrease it again afterwards, so starting up with a small default certainly is better than having a default too large for a single OSD test setup. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to ceph in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1098314 Title: pg_num inappropriately low on new pools To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1098314/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

However, systemctl status apache2 will still show active(exited), e.g. will not recognize the service as failed. In particular, systemctl is-failed apache2 will still return active instead of failed. Expected result: systemctl is-failed apache2 should return failed, so that monitoring script can detect the error. The solution would probably be to include a proper native systemd service definition instead of using the converted sysv service. $ apt-cache policy apache2 apache2: Installed: 2.4.10-9ubuntu1.1 Candidate: 2.4.10-9ubuntu1.1 Version table: *** 2.4.10-9ubuntu1.1 0 500 http://eu.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid-security/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.4.10-9ubuntu1 0 500 http://eu.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages ** Affects: apache2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1488962 Title: systemd does not notice when apache2 service fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apache2/+bug/1488962/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1473602] [NEW] Elantech touchpad not detected after few days in ubuntu 14.04.2 in acer aspire one d255e
Public bug reported: I am reporting this manually as ubuntu-bug reports all packages as Not an ubuntu package . Moreover I have very poor connectivity at home where I use the ubuntu laptop so that i can not even use apt-get to install packages. This problem started with 13.10 then with 14.04LTS and now I am using 14.04.2 with kernel 3.16. My touchpad works initially for few days but after that it is not detectable so that i have to use an external usb mouse. As per solution given in askubuntu.com when I boot with i8042.nopnp as a boot option, it is detected and works fine with all multitouch functions. I have tested with mainline kernel 4.1.1-040101 from kernel-ppa and found that the problem persists. [Bug 1335463] Re: [Toshiba Satellite E55-A5114] ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad not working on 14.04
Sorry for the typo. I meant the new mainline kernel is successfull in detecting the touchpad only if Single is given as a boot time parameter. Once detected, it remains detectable even by the 3.16 ubuntu kernel on reboot. But if I power off, it becomes not detectable again. I know I should file a fresh bug, but my laptop is offline, and i need to collect necessary log files to file a bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1335463 Title: [Toshiba Satellite E55-A5114] ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad not working on 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1335463/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I had a similar problem with my acer aspire one. Downloading and installing the latest manline kernel 4.1.1 did not help in detection. Then I found that newer kernel if Single is added as a boot parameter. Once it is detected the stock ubuntu kernel 3.16 also detected the touchpad on direct reboot. However on shutting down the laptop, the touchpad is not detected again. Re: [Bug 1440174] Re: Keyboard and Mouse don't work with latest Kernel
Hi, I have found a workaround for this bug: Start the machine from scratch with all the USB devices plugged in. Wait for the Grub menu to show on the screen. Using the keyboard select Ubuntu as the operating system to load. Immediately after selecting the Ubuntu OS, disconnect the USB mouse (be it direct USB plug-in or remote). When the Ubuntu login screen comes up it will be possible to use the keyboard to enter the user-name and the password. Once the Ubuntu environment is established, reconnect the USB mouse., and use it normally. Problem solved, although a bit annoying. Hope this helps. -- Dr Joseph D. [Bug 1451797] Re: rc.local should require network-online.target
While I agree that this may never have been guaranteed, it has been working with all previous init systems. For me, the implied policy of using rc.local is: Run after all other init stuff has finished. For example, https://github.com/puppetlabs/razor-server uses modifying rc.local in order to trigger some post installation actions to happen once the node has rebooted after being installed. This works pretty well with Precise and Trusty and also seems to be fine with most other distros. Also, having a server with no network connectivity ever will also not be very useful. This is certainly different for desktop systems, but then, why would you have the After=network.target at all? ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1451797 Title: rc.local should require network-online.target To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1451797/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1451797] [NEW] rc.local should require network-online.target
Public bug reported: The current definition in `/lib/systemd/system/rc-local.service` uses `After=network.target`, which is pretty useless, as `network.target` according to http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/NetworkTarget/ only has relevance during shutdown, which never happens for rc.local. The result is that tasks in rc.local may get started before the network is properly setup, which may cause them to fail, as this is a significant change from the old SysV init behaviour. The solution would be to change the dependency to Wants=network-online.target After=network-online.target see also the notes in http://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.special.html for that. [Bug 1447807] Re: systemctl enable fails to enable a SysV service
Looking at the source code a bit, I see that in systemctl.c:enable_sysv_units there is a comment that it should reshuffle the args array, but it seems it never does that? So strv_isempty(names) in enable_unit never matches, causing the call to systemd which is failing, because there is no unit file. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1447807 Title: systemctl enable fails to enable a SysV service To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1447807/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1450989] Re: USB attached keyboard and mouse don't work at the login time to Ubuntu Trusty Tahr 64 bit
Hi, Here are the results from the command sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date trusty64@trusty64-1015PX:~$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version A06 trusty64@trusty64-1015PX:~$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 01/15/2015 Sad to say, but after updating the Dell 3847 computer BIOS from version A04 (4/3/2014) to version A06 successfully, and after re booting the computer the problem is still present. Here are several bits of information that might be of interest: When turning the power switch on the computer, and then choosing the Ubuntu operating system from the Grub menu, there is no connect message and the mouse and the keyboard are inoperable and therefore it is impossible to login into the Ubuntu operating system. The Ubuntu operating system login screen functions only if one logs into the windows operating system first and then RE-STARTS from there into Grub and eventually Ubuntu.. Once one is in the Ubuntu operating system environment, one can successfully RE-START back to Grub and eventually the Ubuntu operating system, as both the mouse and keyboard are operable after the connect message comes on. The BIOS update was done within the windows 7x64 Pro environment, as the instructions for the BIOS update on the Dell support website were windows 7x64 Pro specific. Once the BIOS update was done successfully he computer was RE-STARTED back to windows 7x64 Pro via Grub. Once the windows 7x64 Pro environment was completely established, and after verifying that the environment was working properly after the BIOS update, the computer once again was RE-STARTED. Once the computer RE-STARTED and the Grub menu for the choice of operating systems came on, Ubuntu 14.04 was chosen. Eventually the Login screen came on, and immediately received a message on the upper right hand side of the screen informing that the computer was now connected to the network (you are now connected to etc.). Once the connection message disappeared both the mouse and the keyboard were operable and login was possible. Hope this helps somewhat. -- Dr Joseph D. I'm actually using a system with ubuntu-gnome-13.10-desktop-amd64 The following printing software is installed by default: CUPS 1.7.0~rc1-0ubuntu5.1 libgutenprint2 5.2.9-1ubuntu2 printer-driver-gutenprint 5.2.9-1ubuntu2 When I connect the CP510 to the USB port, the following lines where reported to syslog: Nov 30 17:03:02 ESP kernel: [ 512.339493] usb 1-1.2: new full-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-pci Nov 30 17:03:02 ESP kernel: [ 512.435499] usb 1-1.2: New USB device found, idVendor=04a9, idProduct=3128 Nov 30 17:03:02 ESP kernel: [ 512.435505] usb 1-1.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 Nov 30 17:03:02 ESP kernel: [ 512.435508] usb 1-1.2: Product: Canon SELPHY CP510 Nov 30 17:03:02 ESP kernel: [ 512.435511] usb 1-1.2: Manufacturer: Canon Inc. [Bug 1247833] [NEW] Printout problems of German 13.04 manual
Public bug reported: Hello I tried to make a printout of the german 13.04 manual from the download of the printer friendly version, using a HP color LaserJet 2600nse, running Ubuntu 13.10, using the printer drivers provided. The printout quality is poor, normal printing seem to have a shadow, bold printing generats curious signs. Using Windows XP and Acrobat XI reader Printout is of good quality, but there are merly black bars instead of the Text on the Title Page. So I wonder, whether the Bugs are in the text or the Printer Drivers provided with Ubuntu, as both Versions Printer and Display appear fine on the Screen. Regards H. [Bug 1234469] Re: Network does not come up after resuming from suspend.
How was this not a blocker for release? We're talking about impacting every single Ubuntu user that suspends their computer, and the entire goal of Ubuntu is to make Linux easier for the average user! I happen to be knowledgeable enough to know NM has a power state within itself that I can set. My family, however, would never even know to look for this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1234469 Title: Network does not come up after resuming from suspend. [Bug 1234469] Re: Network does not come up after resuming from suspend.
that: That error indicates the issue happened during suspend/hibernate. NetworkManager never completed or reported completion of the sleep task it was sent. Could be why it never got woken up. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1234469 Title: Network does not come up after resuming from suspend. [Bug 1237200] [NEW] stunnel4 startup script ignores second configuration file
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 13.04 stunnel4 version 3:4.53-1 I have to *.conf files in /etc/stunnel/ but only one gets started by the init.d script. Ie.: $ sudo service stunnel4 start Starting SSL tunnels: [Already running: /etc/stunnel/nfs.conf] [Already running: /etc/stunnel/redis.conf] stunnel. However only one is running. I can start the second one by running $ sudo stunnel4 /etc/stunnel/redis.conf and then it runs fine. So the issue is somewhere in the init.d script. ** Affects: stunnel4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1237200 Title: stunnel4 startup script ignores second configuration file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/stunnel4/+bug/1237200/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
