[Bug 465136] [NEW] [146181.914676] ------------[ cut here ]------------

2009-10-30 Thread drub
Public bug reported:

Sorry, don't have much to offer. The system just went wonky.

Applications mis-behaved, like Firefox. No response to user events.
Same with system monitor.

Tried to restart the system with the menu on the toolbar. Even the
restart hung as the system was shutting down. Had to use the power
button.

Rather nerve wracking on a freshly upgraded system.

[Bug 358533] Re: Dolphin Hangs With Mounted Folder disconnected

2009-10-06 Thread drub
I experience what I believe to be the same behavior.

Environment:
- 9.04 on a laptop
- 9.04 on a desktop
- NFS mounts in both directions, both systems export directories, both systems
mount directories

When the mounts are not available, Dolphin hangs. Must "Force Quit", or
use kill().

"Force Quit" leaves a dophin process running, and a launcher process
running.Those 2 processes must also be kill()d with signal 9.

[Bug 164120] Re: nautilus hangs when mounted nfs drive is no longer accessible

2009-06-01 Thread drub
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=9.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=jaunty
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 9.04"

Same behavior.

Laptop. Set up mounts to a server. Move the laptop away from the
server.  FS operations freeze.

Behavior is demonstrated using ls().

I will try the soft mount to determine if that can change the behavior.

Cheers!

[Bug 268298] [NEW] Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

2008-09-09 Thread drub
Public bug reported:

"apt-get update" has been working without incident for months.

A few days ago this message is being reported:

W: Failed to fetch
http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/edgy-security/universe/binary-i386/Packages.gz
  404 Not Found
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones
used instead.

I examined the URL location. Indeed, there is no such directory. There
is a "hardy-security" directory.

There are hardy lines in /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security main restricted multiverse
deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security main restricted

Since the system is configured with 8.04, Hardy, can the "edgy-security"
entries simply be removed? Is this a valid fix?
