[Bug 44686] Re: Keyboard/mouse actions on laptop should not turn on screen with lid closed

2008-02-21 Thread dystopianray
I filed bug #107399 and I use Kubuntu and KDE, so my issue at least is
definitely not Gnome related.

[Bug 107399] Re: Laptop screen turns on with lid closed when mouse is moved in feisty

2007-12-04 Thread dystopianray
Yes this is still an issue with gutsy and the intel video driver.

When the laptop lid is closed (not suspended or hibernating, simply a
closed lid) the screen will turn itself on again when a usb mouse is
connected and moved.

[Bug 94022] Re: Kopete jabber groupchat history only shown for currently present members

2007-08-11 Thread dystopianray
Will this patch eventually make it into a gutsy package? It's been
several weeks and I'm rather keen for this fix to be in gutsy. I'm
getting a little worried that it might be overlooked.

[Bug 107397] Kubuntu 7.04 installer should have more choices for partition sizes

2007-04-17 Thread dystopianray
Public bug reported:

Currently the partitioner in the kubuntu 7.04 installer only allows
partition sizes to be specified in SI MB units (1000^3 bytes). It
should have more choices in the units that can be used, such as GB
(1000^4 bytes) and also MiB (1024^3 bytes) and GiB (1024^4 bytes) units.

[Bug 107399] Laptop screen turns on with lid closed when mouse is moved in feisty

2007-04-17 Thread dystopianray
Public bug reported:

When the lid is closed on my laptop and the usb mouse connected to it is
moved the screen will turn on, this is despite the laptop lid being
closed.

The laptop is an inspiron 6000 with i915 intel graphics.

Previous releases did not turn the screen back on when the lid was
opened or the mouse was moved, requiring the use of an additional acpi
script to get the screen to turn on again when the lid was opened. This
new behaviour is good but the screen should only be turned on when the
lid is open.

[Bug 107403] fileshareset does not start the correct nfs server init script, patch provided

2007-04-17 Thread dystopianray
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

fileshareset which is part of kdebase (I think) and is used to allow kde
users to easily share directories over nfs and samba does not start the
correct nfs init script.

The script tries to start /etc/init.d/nfs when it should be starting
/etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server.

I have provided a patch which corrects this behaviour and makes
fileshareset start either the nfs or nfs-kernel-server init script
depending on which one exists.

[Bug 90138] Re: knetworkmanager does not save password for WPA enterprise

I tested the package with the fix and can confirm that it isn't working
properly.

The password is saved into kwallet correctly when you initially connect
to the network. However, on subsequent attempts to connect it is not
retrieving the password from kwallet.

[Bug 90138] Re: knetworkmanager does not save password for WPA enterprise

I have created a patch based on the latest knetworkmanager in feisty

appreciate it if somebody could take a look at it and try it out.
Hopefully this can be fixed before feisty is released.

[Bug 96885] Re: konqueror google.com user-agent says amd64 on i386

2007-03-27 Thread dystopianray
An issue is that the user-agent that comes with konqueror for firefox
1.5.0.4 says i686 and so when trying to edit the entry the user-agent
box is blank which is confusing and misleading.

It may also cause issues on google's end if they are keeping track of
what architectures people are using, as the kubuntu 7.04 entries will
all have a false architecture.

Also, it may cause issues if/when google start releasing 64-bit versions
of applications like Google Earth, Picasa, etc. As they will no doubt
look to the architecture in the user-agent as a hint to what sort of
machine the user is running. Which will lead to users downloading
versions that won't run on their machines.

[Bug 94022] Kopete jabber groupchat history only shown for currently present members

2007-03-20 Thread dystopianray
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kopete

When entering a jabber groupchat, the history provided by the server is
filtered by kopete so it only shows history from members who are
currently present in the groupchat.

This makes the history nearly useless as significant portions of it may
be missing depending on who is currently in the room.

It should show the entire history that is given, regardless of who may
or may not be in the room at the time of joining it. It had this
behaviour in previous versions but it seems to have been changed in one
of the 0.12.x releases.

The filtered history results in error messages being printed in
~/.xsession-errors

kopete (jabber): WARNING: [virtual void
JabberGroupContact::handleIncomingMessage(const XMPP::Message)] the
contact is not in the list : lounge at rooms.jabber.org.au/Clax

This behaviour is a regression in kopete 0.12.x that was not present in
previous versions.

The reason this behaviour occurs is becuase of an erroneous 'return'
statement present directly before the code that handles groupchat
members who are not currently present in the room.

I have reported this many months ago as kde bug #135211
(http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135211) and provided a patch to fix
this problem, however there has been no response from kopete developers.

I have tested the patch and I use jabber groupchats almost every day, I
have not encountered any adverse affects from using the patch and the
history is correctly shown.

[Bug 90138] Re: knetworkmanager does not save password for WPA enterprise

2007-03-12 Thread dystopianray
I have the same problem on edgy and fiesty with latest knetworkmanager
updates.

WPA Enterprise passwords are never stored in kwallet but it saves all
the other network settings in knetworkmanagerrc. When knetworkmanager
automatically tries to connect to the network again it always fails
because it is supplying all details except the password to
wpa_supplicant. It should store the password in kwallet and retrieve it
from there or at least prompt the user to supply the needed password.

The passwords for WPA-PSK and WEP networks are stored in kwallet without
issue, it is only WPA Enterprise that I have encountered where the
passwords are not stored.

I must manually remove the WPA Enterprise network config from
knetworkmanagerrc and re-enter the network details each time I want to
connect to an enterprise network, it is very inconvenient.
