[Bug 1619933] Re: FFe: Sync mediainfo 0.7.88-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
The mediainfo change log indicate there were some Matroska fixes in more recent versions so getting the most resent version in ubuntu might fix it. I'd have to look up how to make a sample to send... I can't find compile instructions to verify it's a mediainfo regression and not a packaging one. For now I'm using ffprobe which has the following output to compare: > mediainfo --Version MediaInfo Command line, MediaInfoLib - v0.7.82 > ffprobe -version ffprobe version 2.8.6-1ubuntu2 Copyright (c) 2007-2016 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 5.3.1 (Ubuntu/Linaro 5.3.1-11ubuntu1) 20160311 configuration: --prefix=/usr --extra-version=1ubuntu2 --build-suffix=-ffmpeg --toolchain=hardened --libdir=/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf --incdir=/usr/include/arm-linux-gnueabihf --cc=cc --cxx=g++ --enable-gpl --enable-shared --disable-stripping --disable-decoder=libopenjpeg --disable-decoder=libschroedinger --enable-avresample --enable-avisynth --enable-gnutls --enable-ladspa --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libbs2b --enable-libcaca --enable-libcdio --enable-libflite --enable-libfontconfig --enable-libfreetype --enable-libfribidi --enable-libgme --enable-libgsm --enable-libmodplug --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable-libpulse --enable-librtmp --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libspeex --enable-libssh --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libx265 --enable-libxvid --enable-libzvbi --enable-openal --enable-opengl --enable-x11grab --enable-libdc1394 --enable-libiec61883 --enable-libzmq --enable-frei0r --enable-libx264 --enable-libopencv libavutil 54. 31.100 / 54. 31.100 libavcodec 56. 60.100 / 56. 60.100 libavformat56. 40.101 / 56. 40.101 libavdevice56. 4.100 / 56. 4.100 libavfilter 5. 40.101 / 5. 40.101 libavresample 2. 1. 0 / 2. 1. 0 libswscale 3. 1.101 / 3. 1.101 libswresample 1. 2.101 / 1. 2.101 libpostproc53. 3.100 / 53. 3.100 > mediainfo $F > ffprobe "$F" 2>&1 | perl -pe 's/from .*://g' ffprobe version 2.8.6-1ubuntu2 Copyright (c) 2007-2016 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 5.3.1 (Ubuntu/Linaro 5.3.1-11ubuntu1) 20160311 configuration: --prefix=/usr --extra-version=1ubuntu2 --build-suffix=-ffmpeg --toolchain=hardened --libdir=/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf --incdir=/usr/include/arm-linux-gnueabihf --cc=cc --cxx=g++ --enable-gpl --enable-shared --disable-stripping --disable-decoder=libopenjpeg --disable-decoder=libschroedinger --enable-avresample --enable-avisynth --enable-gnutls --enable-ladspa --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libbs2b --enable-libcaca --enable-libcdio --enable-libflite --enable-libfontconfig --enable-libfreetype --enable-libfribidi --enable-libgme --enable-libgsm --enable-libmodplug --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable-libpulse --enable-librtmp --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libspeex --enable-libssh --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libx265 --enable-libxvid --enable-libzvbi --enable-openal --enable-open gl --enable-x11grab --enable-libdc1394 --enable-libiec61883 --enable-libzmq --enable-frei0r --enable-libx264 --enable-libopencv libavutil 54. 31.100 / 54. 31.100 libavcodec 56. 60.100 / 56. 60.100 libavformat56. 40.101 / 56. 40.101 libavdevice56. 4.100 / 56. 4.100 libavfilter 5. 40.101 / 5. 40.101 libavresample 2. 1. 0 / 2. 1. 0 libswscale 3. 1.101 / 3. 1.101 libswresample 1. 2.101 / 1. 2.101 libpostproc53. 3.100 / 53. 3.100 Input #0, matroska,webm, Metadata: encoder : libebml v1.3.3 + libmatroska v1.4.4 creation_time : 2016-07-08 08:46:21 Duration: 03:02:33.65, start: 0.00, bitrate: 3606 kb/s Chapter #0:0: start 0.00, end 610.651000 Metadata: title : Chapter 01 Chapter #0:1: start 610.651000, end 1620.619000 Metadata: title : Chapter 02 Chapter #0:2: start 1620.619000, end 2269.183000 Metadata: title : Chapter 03 Chapter #0:3: start 2269.183000, end 2814.269000 Metadata: title : Chapter 04 Chapter #0:4: start 2814.269000, end 3724.929000 Metadata: title : Chapter 05 Chapter #0:5: start 3724.929000, end 4450.571000 Metadata: title : Chapter 06 Chapter #0:6: start 4450.571000, end 5286.906000 Metadata: title : Chapter 07 Chapter #0:7: start 5286.906000, end 6106.35 Metadata: title : Chapter 08 Chapter #0:8: start 6106.35, end 6832.45 Metadata: title : Chapter 09 Chapter #0:9: start 6832.45, end 7378.037000 Metadata: title

Thanks for the quick answer tytso. I used resize2fs to do an online grow of from 8TB to 12TB and that worked fine. now I'm trying to offline shrink it back down to 8TB and it's unable to do so. I am using a raspberrypi so it's 32-bit and limited to 256MB and I have 2x that in swap. [Bug 455024] Re: resize2fs: memory allocation failed while trying to resize
An inode is only 256 bytes, the super block is only 1024 bytes, and I am likely missing something here but I see no reason to require more than a few inodes in RAM at any given time (and this seems to be the case for creating, growing, checking, and repairing). I would expect resize2fs to have a buffer of up to available RAM to speed things up, but only need a few MB in RAM for any operation. I would also expect that If there was some minimum amount of RAM required resize2fs would check and calculate before hand and tell the user how much RAM is required. maybe even warn when growing to a size resize2fs will not be able to shrink down from. I guess e2fsprogs still has some room to improve. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/455024 Title: resize2fs: memory allocation failed while trying to resize To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/e2fsprogs/+bug/455024/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
