2021-10-07 Thread Enzo Aguado
Public bug reported:

The 'core' snap was automatically upgraded on a slow machine overnight.
This upgrade took around 5 minutes but during this time, another snap
daemon that depended on it restarted and failed with the following error
message:

[Bug 353877]

2015-03-21 Thread enzo
All this story makes no sense, in the end.
According to the previous comments above:

Those who wrote the standard had no clue about what was being defined.
So no correction (aka 4.02?) to the HTML standard has been
proposed/discussed/done in 15 years.

Implementing and reimplementing for years interim unstable specs has
been considered more important than fixing the current stuff.

If anything is too hard to fix, than shame on application developers,
each of them, to find a suitable workaround in their software.

Sounds like we are at Microsoft or IBM more than the Mozilla Foundation.
Despite the motto We’re building a better Internet
(https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/mission/) and the manifesto 08 Transparent
community-based processes promote participation, accountability and trust.
I need to be wrong and/or misinterpreting all these words. Shame on me.
Please close this bug with whatever tag you want. It won't matter anyway.

I only hope that challenging someone's choices is not interpreted as impolite,
rude or unkind.
I hate to accept technical stuff blindly and with no factual justification.

[Bug 353877]

2015-03-21 Thread enzo
I think everyone will concede to honesty here.
But, for the sake of honesty, everyone should concede that if you wait long
enough, any bug will end up this very way. It's called the ostrich philophy.

Comment 17 (18 months later) was the technical key point for a fix and a quick
one.
Comment 324 (12 years later) has been the political key point not to fix it.

I would bet that HTML5 doesn't have this feature because no browser has ever
had it in the 16 years (well, I don't consider IE a real web browser). But I
could be badly wwong.
So long, bug no.915!

I've tested the Vivid kernel and works fine in my Satellite L845. I'll
try to test the Mainline later.

[Bug 1416277] Re: toshiba_acpi: Unknown key 158

2015-02-11 Thread Enzo
I have a Toshiba Satellite L845, that suffers the same issue descrived here.
I've tried with the kernels listed here and also the latest Mainline, none
worked.
But I was able to solve it wit this patch:

diff --git a/drivers/platform/x86/toshiba_acpi.c
b/drivers/platform/x86/toshiba_acpi.c
index 76441dc..f3c488a 100644
--- a/drivers/platform/x86/toshiba_acpi.c
+++ b/drivers/platform/x86/toshiba_acpi.c
@@ -222,6 +222,12 @@ static const struct dmi_system_id toshiba_alt_keymap_dmi[]
= {
DMI_MATCH(DMI_PRODUCT_NAME, Satellite M840),

+ DMI_MATCH(DMI_SYS_VENDOR, TOSHIBA),
+ DMI_MATCH(DMI_PRODUCT_NAME, Satellite-L845),
+ },
+ },
{}
 };

The patch at #2 converts 158 to hex (0x9e) that's why it didn't work for me.
Also, the alternative mapping already has the code 158 it at line 236:
{ KE_KEY, 0x158, { KEY_WLAN } },

So, only adding the DMI rule in order to use the alt mapping does the
trick (no need for the patch at #2)

Public bug reported:

I have ubuntu 13.10 and want to upgrade to 14.04.
During calculation I get the error:

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu

[Bug 1275466] [NEW] open jdk 6, 7 and java sun 6 supported but not java oracle 7

2014-02-02 Thread enzo
Public bug reported:

It would be nice to support java-7-oracle as jvm,

As a quick hack, I've tried to add it to the known jvm in /etc/ca-
certificates/update.d/jks-keystore, but it still doesn't work because
the file /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-oracle/jre/lib/security/nss.cfg doesn't
exist

[Bug 1275466] Re: open jdk 6, 7 and java sun 6 supported but not java oracle 7

2014-02-02 Thread enzo
Well indeed, I was using the version for Ubuntu 12.04

I've jumped to last version ca-certificates-java 20130815, and no more
problem concerning nss.cfg

I've only added java-7-oracle to the list of jvm, and I've been able to
generate the java cacerts file

[Bug 45026] Re: K3b dont find emovix-2 and normalize

2013-12-21 Thread enzo
Then it'd better to exclude orphaned packages than blindly include them in the
dependencies.
And a package dependent on an orphaned one is also in the short list for the
exclusion.

[Bug 353877]

2011-10-22 Thread enzo
(In reply to Scott Trenda from comment #380)
 Once you have a
:-moz-column() pseudo-class selector in place, couldn't you just add this
set of rules to the internal Mozilla default stylesheet?

Scott, your remark seems to me to make a lot of sense. Pretty much.
Maybe not in the solution itself, but rather in its philosophy.
I mean, the missing parts you mentioned would need some extra programmatic
approach, like linking (default, built-in) Javascript procedures to default CSS.

A few facts.
1. HTML4 documents and applications won't vanish overnight once HTML5 will be a
standard. A better support to HTML4 will make the web a better place.

2. W3C standards have proven not to be bullet proof (among the most
recent cases: http://it.slashdot.org/story/11/10/22/0310230/xml-
encryption-broken-need-to-fix-w3c-standard).

3. Smart interpretation (of standards) and implementation (of browsers)
in the mid- long-term are better than strict ones.

(In reply to Scott Trenda from comment #380)
So please, godspeed on bug 371323. :)

Yes, plase!

[Bug 353877]

2011-10-20 Thread enzo
(In reply to Xavier Mouton-Dubosc from comment #368)
I really need vertical align by a character, because that is the only reason
some companies uses IE + Excel in the intranet.

Well, the COL group makes a lot of sense to tabular data presentation anyway.
And it seems that it doesn't make any sense without it being fully implemented.

But guys, read the previous (very old) comments. It seems there's been a number
of unsuccessful fix attempts in the past.
The HTML 4.01 and the CSS2 are conflicting (shame on the standardisation board)
and the developers of all opensource brosers decided to go the same way: CSS2
everywhere. There's no will at all to implement the COL stuff as per the
standard.

[Bug 353877]

2011-10-20 Thread enzo
Stop all this bounting (bug-hunting), please. :-)

Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Konqueror, Rekonq, Safari and other similar
browsers cannot handle simple HTML4 code.
They render HTML4 by always using implict CSS2 styiling. So CSS is in place
even whrn you don't require it.
And thus, besides other nice features, the COL tag is pretty useless. And
will forever.

I hate this, but this is the way this crazy world is.

The option is to start a brand new browser project as it seems that a
number of proposed patches has been rejected in the past...

[Bug 353877]

2011-06-11 Thread enzo
(In reply to comment #357)
 Mmm.
COL align=char char=., is it possible with CSS ?

No, it's not possible in CSS.
See http://www.w3.org/TR/2011/REC-CSS2-20110607/tables.html#columns

But
http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/struct/tables.html#h-11.2.4.2
and
http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/struct/tables.html#adef-align-TD
and http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/struct/tables.html#adef-char
suggest that plain simple HTML4 should suffice.

Anyway, it's not present in the HTML5 draft...
HTML5-draft is just a ... ehm ... a draft.
It could completely vanish, be superseded by another draft or even be committed
as a standard. Implementations relying on drafts are, IMHO, a huge waste of
resources. And an ajoyable one, it looks to me.

The only current real standard is HTML4.01, though.

Accordingly to a number of earlier comments the Mozilla Design Board plans to
leave the v4.01 support as it is now.
Unless someone will pick the issue up and solve it.

[Bug 599019] Re: Error with Nouveau 10.04 driver with nVidia Corporation C51 [GeForce 6150 LE] (rev a2)

2010-08-05 Thread enzo marino
Hi Charlie and thanks for the message. Unfortunately I'm unable to do
that as the system has been replaced for a model that works with 10.04.
This bug relates to very specific hardware yet from the forums it's
become apparent over time that there may be a general issue with the
nouveau driver and nvidia cards. I know you guys are busy and
considering the very specific nature of the hardware and bug I'm happy
for this to hit the expiration date if Indie is also. Thanks for the
help and contributions all the same.

[Bug 599019] [NEW] Error with Nouveau 10.04 driver with nVidia Corporation C51 [GeForce 6150 LE] (rev a2)

2010-06-27 Thread enzo marino
Public bug reported:

Hi, for what I hope is a comprehensive history of the error please see
the thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1514491

Unfortunately the guideline options 1-4 below won't provide accurate
information as I am using 9.10 Ubuntu now. Rather I hope the following
provides more information.

1) Recently attempted to install Xubuntu 10.04 on a old computer system with
the folowing graphics card: nVidia Corporation C51 [GeForce 6150 LE] (rev a2).
2) Running DVD as Live CD failed, after selecting try without changes option,
screen blacks out and monitor switches off. Advised to try Alternative Xubuntu
10.04 cd.
3) Ran installation of Xubuntu 10.04 Alternate CD. Post installation failed to
show grub menu, tried Esc but no options present at all.
4) Install Backtrack 4 as dual boot (based on 8.10 ubuntu platform)
installation works fine for BT4 and grub menu now present. However loading of
Xubuntu 10.04 from grub menu still fails - screens blacks out and monitor
switches off.
5) Formatted system using G-Parted.
6) Tested Ubuntu 10.04 live cd. Can finally after very long delay get a live cd
X session. Using F6 options; Selected noapic, nolapic, edd=on, nodmraid,
nomodeset.
7) From Ubuntu 10.04 lives session installed system to HDD. After reboot failed
to show grub menu, tried Esc but no options present at all.
8) Installed dual boot with Backtrack 4. Grub menu present as per 4 still
unable to log into system or get tty1 expect now working with Ubuntu 10.04.
9) Advised thanks to Ubuntu Forum, open-source driver had changed in version
10.04 from Vesa (9.10) to Nouveau. Advised to try 9.10 Ubuntu.
10) Tested Ubuntu 9.10 live cd. System boots correctly from live cd with no
issues. Performed installation. Rebooted and using tty1 installed NVIDIA driver
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-195.36.31-pkg1.run from www.nvidia.com.
11) Installed dual boot Backtrack 4. Grub menu now present (not there after
9.10 installation until BT4 dual boot installation).
11) System full operational until upgrade of kernel to: 2.6.31-22-generic.
Fstab mount errors, unable to load X session.
12) Booted in with live-cd changed fstab from read-only. Re-installed NVIDIA
driver.
13) Ubuntu 9.10 now fully operational with no further errors.

Summary. Errors do seem to be a result of the Nouveau driver in 10.04.
Hope this helps provide some info.

Hi,
I've encountered this bug with a bad use of konversation (however, this
bad use didn't crash the version of konversation I was using before)

The fact is on a network (irc.rezosup.org), I had something on
'commandes to launch', which was /msg nickserv nick pass.

With this settings, the connection was locked to this network, and when
i was doing 'disconnect from network' (but i wasn't really connected to
it, just this commands were launched, and was locking the full
connection), then konversation crashed

I now use the nickserv from the identity modifications, and all work
well

Hope this helps

[Bug 325787] Re: asterisk-app-fax crashes Asterisk

2009-06-03 Thread enzo
I have the same problem as you

I have a fresh install of ubuntu 9.04, with :
* libspandsp1 0.0.5~pre4-1
* asterisk-app-fax 0.0.20070624-2ubuntu1

And each time I get a fax, RxFax is called and crashes Asterisk, I can see the
last error:
-- AGI Script Executing Application: (RxFAX) Options:
(/tmp/asterisk_faxreceive.sourcerh.7.1.gEKVnS/fax.tiff)
asterisk: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/app_rxfax.so:
undefined symbol: t30_set_local_ident
Died at /usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/receive_fax line 233, stdin line 21.

As a result I think asterisk-app-fax has been compiled with a wrong
version of libspandsp

In fact, i've found somewhere this link which reports the compilation of
asterisk-spandsp-plugins_0.0.20070624-2 as a success
http://www.linux-m32r.org/pipermail/build-status/Week-of-Mon-20080922/171649.html

However it shows warnings:
app_rxfax.c:288: warning: implicit declaration of function 't30_set_local_ident'

The compilation is thought to be good, but not at all, because it
generates error when using RxFax

So I hope Ubuntu will upgrade soon compatible versions of asterisk-app-
fax and libspandsp1, because for now, it's unusable...

[Bug 184491] Re: [KDE 4] Cannot get admin privileges in KDE4.0 System settings (Date/Time, Login Manager)

2008-06-15 Thread enzo
I confirm the bug as of today.
No single systemsettings module allows administration rights.
The /usr/lib/kde4/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu /usr/lib/kde4/bin/systemsettings
workaround doesn't work but rather blocks the application: hard kill needed.
Moreover, a number of modules is missing, like the Users and the Printers.
Should I revert back to KDE3 for a real solution?

[Bug 184491] Re: [KDE 4] Cannot get admin privileges in KDE4.0 System settings (Date/Time, Login Manager)

2008-06-15 Thread enzo
Is this a distribution related bug or a KDE specific one?
Moreover I'd say it's a regression bug: it wasn't there with 3.5.8: is there
any plan for backporting the fix?
