[Bug 1394582] Re: patch - fix logic flaw, make seahorse-tool's encrypt command work

2016-08-11 Thread epictete
Exactly the same under Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon 3.0.7 ; with Nemo File
Manager pull-down menu: when choosing the Encrypt… option your're asked
to choose the key to be used but then nothing happens, the file is not
encrypted.

The encryption works perfectly in command line.

[Bug 1018069] Re: Linux Libertine & Libreoffice 3.5 distorted printing

2016-04-28 Thread epictete
Hello, under Ubuntu 16.04 and LibreOffice 5.1.2.2, Linux Biolinum is
well displayed on the monitor but isn't printed correctly (see the first
version on the left side of the attached picture file) with replacement
of some characters by some other (strange) ones.

Actually the bug is solved (as previously discovered by staedtler-
przyborski! thanks a lot to him!) by changing the police from Linux
Biolinum to Linux Biolinum G (Graphite).

The second version on the right side of the picture in the attached file
is printed with Linux Biolinum G.

P.S. I wasn't able to find somewhere on the site the command for
providing the characteristics of my system (as staedtler-przyborski has
done in his first post.

[Bug 666238] Re: File-roller An error occured during the addition of files to the archive

2011-07-08 Thread epictete
Hello Pedro, I no longer have had this problem since I've been using
11.04, even using the same repertory to make the archive (the repertory
gathering my important documents).

All the time when I was under 10.10 I had to use CLI to make my
archives: I'm sad to say that a bug about such a basic and important
feature as this in such an important sofware as the file manager, is not
very reassuring and leading you to be trustful about an operating
system. May I precise that I am a very fan of free software and Linux
that I am using exclusively (Ubuntu) since august 2005, but I think that
the bugs management is still a problem for the Linux desktop.

Nevertheless thank's for asking. Anyway Linux is the best!

Best wishes. Philippe

[Bug 478804] Re: Search and replace EOL character ^$ (to erase blank lines) doesn't work in OOo Writer

2011-03-12 Thread epictete
Hello Christopher, first thank you very much for taking interest in this
issue.

I've done your test and it works perfectly, as for you. This because
your file is too simple (see infra).

My system datas today:

$  lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 10.10
Release:10.10

$ apt-cache policy libreoffice-writer
libreoffice-writer:
  Installé : 1:3.3.1-1ubuntu3~maverick1
  Candidat : 1:3.3.1-1ubuntu3~maverick1
 Table de version :
 *** 1:3.3.1-1ubuntu3~maverick1 0
500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/libreoffice/ppa/ubuntu/ maverick/main
amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

So I've prepared files (in attachment) so that you can watch and even
reproduce the problem:

In the file Test Mailing Result SR extension.odt, you can see that the
result is perfect using AltSearch plugin by Tomas Bilek: all the records
on one page, the styles are safe, no blank lines.

In the file Test Mailing Result SR built-in.odt, you can see that,
using the Search and replace fonction of LibreOffice the replacement
doesn't work before a page break (and when using my own (not testing)
big file, the styles may disappear too).

The file Test Mailing Result.odt is the result of the mailing; it is the file
on which I make the Search replace ^$.
The file Test Mailing Pattern.odt is the model on which I make the mailing.
The file Test Spreadsheet.ods is the table for the mailing.
The file Test Base.odb is the corresponding base.

I hope that all this may help you and I'm ready to answer to any other
question.

2011-03-12 Thread epictete

styles are safe. I can then have many records on one page.

2011-03-12 Thread epictete
Now the bad result using the built-in Search replace.

On the left side of the image is the first page : the styles have vanished
On the right side of the image is the second page : the styles are respected.

The Search replace doesn't work before a page break so you've got only
one record on a page!

[Bug 562027] Re: [ooo-build] OOo QuickStarter: unable to shutdown / reboot / logout when quickstarter is active

2011-03-11 Thread epictete
The fix/workaround suggested in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/562027/comments/67
doesn't work if you've replaced OpenOffice with LibreOffice 3.3.1.

The path :
/usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.*/share/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Recovery.xcu
is no longer valid:
/usr/lib/libreoffice/basis3.3/share/registry/ no data folder here.

And a search for Recovery.xcu in the filesystem brings nothing.

[Bug 666238] [NEW] File-roller An error occured during the addition of files to the archive

[Bug 601430] Re: linux-image 2.6.32-23.37 can't be configured

2010-07-05 Thread epictete

I have found the solution.

Looking at the error message, I noted that the 1st error was this:
update-extlinux: not found.

at the very beginning of the text:

Examining /etc/kernel/postrm.d .
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postrm.d/extlinux 2.6.32-21-generic
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-21-generic
/etc/kernel/postrm.d/extlinux: 15: update-extlinux: not found
run-parts: /etc/kernel/postrm.d/extlinux exited with return code 127

So I googlelized: update-extlinux: not found and found the precise
solution in this post :

http://osdir.com/ml/debian-bugs-dist/2010-05/msg08675.html

You must have installed and then removed extlinux, leaving the script
/etc/kernel/postrm.d/extlinux. This is a bug in extlinux - the script
should do nothing if the package has been removed. You can work around it by
purging extlinux.

Ben Hutchings

Thanks very much to Ben Hutchings for posting, whoever he may be!

Looking for extlinux, I could verify that the package was not installed
but its configuration files were present: (c) in aptitude search:

phili...@dell-1720:~$ aptitude search extlinux
c extlinux - utilities
for the syslinux bootloaders (ext2/ext3 bootloader)

Removing the files was impossible with aptitude for he always tried to
configure linux-image which always ends in the procedure to abort. So I
used dpkg which is a lower level tool that don't need to upgrade
everything before he could move his little finger as aptitude does:

phili...@dell-1720:~$ sudo dpkg -P extlinux
(Lecture de la base de données... 182806 fichiers et répertoires déjà
installés.)
Suppression de extlinux ...
Purge des fichiers de configuration de extlinux ...

phili...@dell-1720:~$ aptitude search extlinux
phili...@dell-1720:~$
phili...@dell-1720:~$ aptitude show extlinux
E: Paquet extlinux introuvable

Then I could update and upgrade everything including linux-image.

I've just reboot on kernel 2.6.32-23 without any problem.

In the end I don't what this problem with extlinux came from but
everything's right now.

I apologize for having filed a bug report too early but maybe someday
it'll help someone.

[Bug 601430] Re: linux-image 2.6.32-23.37 can't be configured

2010-07-03 Thread epictete
After booting on kernel 2.6.32-22 I can even not uninstall kernel
2.6.32-23 and I cannot install another software because each time the
system wants to configure linux-image 2.6.32-23!

So now my system is motionless and no software can be added!

2010-05-21 Thread epictete
apport information

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: openoffice.org

In OOo Writer 3.0.1, if you want to erase blank lines using 'search and
replace' for ^$ (empty paragraph): either the blank lines are not found
and nothing is replaced, either the styles may disappear and the
replacement doesn't work before a page break.

This worked perfectly in versions previous than Jaunty. It doesn't work
  in Jaunty nor in Karmic.

If you add the extension AltSearch 1.2.2 Alternative Find Replace for
Writer by Tomas Bilek, the extension does the job perfectly like Writer
was able in the past versions.

I've tried (before a reinstallation of Jaunty) to install OOo 3.1 (using the

[Bug 478804] Re: Search and replace EOL character ^$ (to erase blank lines) doesn't work in OOo Writer

2010-05-14 Thread epictete

Exactly the same problem under Lucid (not an upgrade but an install from
scratch): after replacing of the blank paragraph ^$ with nothing, the page
breaks, between two records of the data base (spreadsheet), doesn't disappear
and the text formatting sometimes is broken. With the extension AltSearch 1.3,
everything's perfect.

Re: [Bug 512729] Re: Brasero crashes when you select several files to copy

2010-01-27 Thread epictete
Hello Pedro,

I've changed the line in /etc/default/apport to enabled=1 and restart my
computer.

Then tried to select several files in Brasero: Brasero closed by itself
immediately.

I then went to /var/crash but the repertory is empty!

Should I do something else?

2010/1/27 Pedro Villavicencio pe...@ubuntu.com

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
 apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the
crash report you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
 /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash
in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to
 report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 512729] [NEW] Brasero crashes when you select several files to copy

2010-01-26 Thread epictete
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Karmic --- Kernel 2.6.31-17-generic --- Brasero 2.28.2-0ubuntu1
When I'm preparing a data project (a DVD is present in the burner), there is no

several files at a time even before I could click the Add (+) button.

[Bug 374101] Re: Brasero hangs at Normalizing tracks

2009-11-21 Thread epictete
I do agree with Uqbar: what about those who use Jaunty? they can only
cry?

This idea that when a new Ubuntu version occurs there is no more need to
fix the bugs of the preceding version is unrational because a new
version is always full of new bugs and one should always wait a few
months before upgrading its system.

It's undecent too regarding the users of the preceding version who are
considered negligibles!

So you can get:

- either the preceding version with bugs that developpers consider there is no
need to fix them
- or the new version with new bugs whose solutions haven't been found yet

but not a STABLE DEBUGGED SYSTEM.

The bug is exactly the same in Debian Testing.
As the problem doesn't exist in Sabayon or in Parsix Linux, it is clear that it

[Bug 59620] Re: can't handle ext2 resize_inode feature

2009-04-24 Thread epictete
I have exactly the same problem as in bug #37137 which is reported as a
duplicate of this bug, with the same messages file system has an
incompatible feature enabled and then Ext2 partition has unrecoverable
system error using the installer of both Ubuntu and Kubuntu 9.04
JAUNTY.

The ext2 partition is my boot partition. If I ignore the messages and go
on for the installation, it seems that everything works well. But for a
newcomer to linux this may be dissuasive and crippling before he could
have a chance to see anything of Linux and Ubuntu!
