[Bug 484336] Re: /etc/rsyslog.conf permissions incorrect/missing for creation of dynamic files

2010-05-10 Thread gaestur
Using 10.04 LTS. After fixing privileges it works with dynamic files -
but only under very little load. When I pointed three ASA firewalls
(tens of messages per second each) to my server, rsyslog lost ability to
write files again. Aftre service restart it works for several seconds
and dies. RIP.

Switched back to old trusty syslog-ng which gives me no problems even
with much higher load.

[Bug 537327] Re: kvm in karmic: smp win2003 guests crash on reboot

2010-03-15 Thread gaestur
I witnessed this bug only on one host (and it's the only host I'm using for kvm
right now).
Host configuration is as follows:
Test site: HP DL 380 G5 (8-core, 16 GB RAM).
qemu-kvm 0.11.0-0ubuntu6.3
Linux net-v2 2.6.31-20-server #57-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 8 09:59:59 UTC 2010 x86_64
GNU/Linux

The trouble was faced with virtual machines running 32-bit Windows Server
Enterprise 2003 R2. Tests for other Windows versions were not done. The problem
was appearing no matter if current updates were applied to guest OS. Other
guest OS (64-bit Fedora12 and FreeDSD 8) were running and rebooting well in the
same two-processor configuration.
The bug reproduced itself on several virtual machines.

Windows virtual machines with single processor showed no evidence of
this bug and were running fine under heavy load, that's why I suspect
it's related to older bug 341979.

[Bug 341979] Re: Windows guest can't reboot when using smp.

2010-03-11 Thread gaestur
Found the same problem in Karmic qemu-kvm 0.11.0-0ubuntu6.3.

Test site: HP DL 380 G5 (8-core, 16 GB RAM).
qemu-kvm 0.11.0-0ubuntu6.3
Linux net-v2 2.6.31-20-server #57-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 8 09:59:59 UTC 2010 x86_64

Windows 2003 R2 guests are having the same problem with 2 virt CPU setup
- first crash during reboot after installation, then randomly crashing
on consequent reboots. Shutdown ans manual startup work quite fine.

[Bug 402767] Re: multisearch add on blocks the functionality of firefox location bar

2009-07-23 Thread gaestur
Such a sad surprise. What to expect next? I used to trust Ubuntu and was
promoting this distro at work and among my friends, but it's impossible
to rely on those who install to my computer unrequested software (an
adware, frankly speaking), which mangles my search results. It's not
testing new features. It's trying to exploit trust and losing it.

[Bug 374349] Re: Front Mic not working in Acer Aspire D250

2009-05-12 Thread gaestur
I just compiled it (./configure --with-cards=all make sudo make
install). I know that it's not the best way for future system
maintenance (needs to be recompiled with each kernel upgrade), but I'm
not sure there are any precompiled .debs. Sorry :(

[Bug 374349] Re: Front Mic not working in Acer Aspire D250

2009-05-11 Thread gaestur
The same configuration as in suomaf report.

Sound not working after suspend to RAM, front microphone not working.

Adding line

options snd-hda-intel model=acer-aspire

to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf doesn't help.

Rebuillding alsa modules with m-a helps neither, sound output in this
case doesn't work at all (though no mixer channels are muted). The same
happens when alsa drivers are compiled manually (./configure --with-
cards=all).

Output from dmesg:
hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC662, trying auto-probe from BIOS...

but not sound problems after suspend.

[Bug 372876] Re: linux-restricted-modules-generic 2.6.28-11.16 in jaunty-proposed cannot be installed

2009-05-07 Thread gaestur
The following packages have been kept back:
linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic
linux-restricted-modules-generic

The same problem. Exists since 06 May 2009.
Version 2.6.28-11.16 of restricted modules seems not in repository thus
preventing kernel upgrade.
