[Bug 903874] [NEW] Installation with btrfs root fails at 'select and install software'
Public bug reported: When trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit Server the installation crashes at select and install software and the installer shows the installation step failed error. This only happens when the partition which contains / is a btrfs, when i try the same thing on ext4 everything works. I tried this on 2 different machines they both have the same problem. The following info might also be useful: - the /-partion is my third partition, my first is /boot on ext4 and the 2nd is swap, the 3 partitions are on 1 disk - I tried installing from cd,usb-stick and PXE - the installation step where the base install happens works fine, and when i launch a shell i can see that /target contains a base install - Installation of the grub bootloader also fails, but this might be because it happens just behind the select and install software step - Altough i'm choosing the expert install, i follow the installation steps in the right direction - In the step before select and install software where you can check what you want to install, i check everything (multiverse, security, extra,...) ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/903874 Title: Installation with btrfs root fails at 'select and install software' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-installer/+bug/903874/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I also added a second file that can be placed in /etc/init.d/ as 2nd init script to launch the server in v6 mode (if you run diff /etc/init.d/isc-dhcp*-server you will see that it's very similar to the init script to launch the server in regular dhcp mode. There are parts of conky that are linux-only but that are the parts that do things like examine hardware, the rest should work on everything POSIX-compatible. There is idd still a period between file_exists() and fopen() but the only thing that happens in that time is a stat(). Why are you setting the umask rw-rw- instead of -rw--- ? It also seems that the original code (i have no idea who wrote the code for the eve-part of conky) overwrites the tempfile each time but since you are creating unique files this will cause the hard drive to be filled with junk, i think a unlink(file); after doc = xmlReadFile(file, NULL, 0); should fix this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/607309 Title: vulnerability: rewrite arbitrary user file -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 625839] [NEW] Missing symlink causes problems crosscompiling c++ apps
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: lib64stdc++6 If you try to (cross)compile a c++ application on a i386 system for a amd64 system then gcc will search the right version of libstdc++.so . So if you run g++ -m64 what_you_want_to_compile.cpp the compiler will only find the libstdc++.so symlink that's pointing to the 32bit version /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6.0.13 and you will notice the following error: /usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.3/libstdc++.so when searching for -lstdc++ /usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.3/libstdc++.a when searching for -lstdc++ /usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.3/libstdc++.so when searching for -lstdc++ /usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.3/libstdc++.a when searching for -lstdc++ /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lstdc++ collect2: ld returned 1 exit status If you create a symlink /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so that points to libstdc++.so.6 (also in /usr/lib64) this problem is fixed. g++ can now create 64bit executables on a 32 bit system. [Bug 89896] Re: [herd-5] no wlan0 device after loading ndiswrapper
I believe I had tried that earlier... I don't have access to the card / laptop now, but will try it out when I get a chance. However, just as a smell test, the explanation about the firmware loading makes more sense since ndiswrapper is loaded before NetworkManager even starts and my dmesg log spits out the error messages (I forget what they were exactly) before the networking init script runs. In these cases, I don't think it creates the wlan0 device at all. The current user of the laptop with the wireless dongle is happy that it works, but just has to remember to always shut down the PC instead of rebooting. -- [herd-5] no wlan0 device after loading ndiswrapper https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89896 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 89896] Re: [herd-5] no wlan0 device after loading ndiswrapper
Ok, one more update. I found something on the ndiswrapper mailing list archives: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=1163487957.19940.9.camel%40bds.jh1.ucs-software.co.za Apparently, the way the hardware is, it requires a power off to reset the firmware. If you leave it in an reboot, it will not properly come back up. So, the workaround is to do a shut down if you want to leave the dongle in the computer. If not, you have to remove the dongle and put it back in when you reboot. I don't think it works properly if you leave it in while it is booting up, you need to: sudo modprobe -r ndiswrapper sudo modprobe ndiswrapper to reset it. -- [herd-5] no wlan0 device after loading ndiswrapper https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89896 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
