How do you think about bringing the same patch to kdelibs-4.14?

[Bug 60315]

2015-03-24 Thread genstorm
(In reply to Dawit Alemayehu from comment #29)
Can anyone of you search for a file called http_cache_cleaner.desktop on
your system and make sure if it has an entry called X-KDE-StartupNotify =
false? If it does, can you then change that to say StartupNotify = false
and see if the problem goes away?

I has having a bisect session yesterday so was able to test this at the
same time. Prior to changing the entry, I was again seeing HTTP Cache
Cleaner pop up in the task bar, afterwards, none of that.

Qt-4.8.6, KDE-Workspaces-4.11.17/4.14.3/4.14.6/KDE-Applications-14.12.3

[Bug 1299499]

2014-04-24 Thread genstorm
Problem still exists in mesa-10.1.1 when not using the proposed patch,
and it looks like master isn't fixed as well yet.

Tested with:
gentoo-sources-3.14.1
mesa-10.1.1
kde-frameworks-4.11.8 and kde-workspaces-4.12.4

2014-04-24 Thread genstorm
Yeah, I got the KDE parts backwards...

Anyway, kwin with kernel 3.15_rc1+ is just the same crash fest as 3.14
with vanilla mesa-10.1.1. Restored the mesa binary package with the
patch, and everything's fine again.

I guess Arch has you covered with the patch already?

[Bug 1236012]

2014-03-21 Thread genstorm
(In reply to comment #59)
The exists in Arch linux kernel 3.13.6-1, KDE 4.12.3 and LibreOffice 4.1.5.3.
When I Ctrl+Alt+F1 and switch to text console and back to KDE the cells are
moved and all applications start to function again.
Then either upgrade to = 4.2 or give your downstream a heads up about this
patch.

No, you should bug your downstream to backport the above mentioned patch to
4.1 and ship a new libreoffice update (probably what they are doing anyway
with the imminent bump to 4.1.4.2.

^ I can only repeat myself. If the downstream maintainers are unaware of
your trouble, they can't do anything about it. The patch is easily
backported to 4.1 branch, Gentoo has done it, Debian and Fedora can as
well.

Same trouble here. Drag and drop cells and sheets freezes kwin
completely, switching to fbcon and back again is a workaround. Disabling
hardware acceleration made no difference.

Qt: 4.8.5

So I've returned to amarok master, but it isn't fixed there - probably
in some developer's branch? ;)

Sorry for the nagging, but if it isn't going to be fixed until 2.7 an
otherwise great piece of software will appear to be of beta quality at
first sight for a long time - which it certainly isn't. Really no half-
ugly workaround possible?

Any progress? It's a minor issue, but hugely annoyingly visible :)

KDE SC 4.8.4, Qt-4.8.2, amarok-2.5.90

Plus, I've also seen the garbled collection list mentioned in comment #7
which is a bit more annoying.
