[Bug 107320] Re: Large font in the GDM login text field after installing xserver-xorg-video-intel

2007-10-21 Thread grybba
I can confirm the same bug on a fresh install of Gusty on HP Compaq
nx7400 with Intel chipset. Changing the settings in Gnome (effects off
and then back on) fixed the issue while running Ubuntu, the login screen
is still affected though.

[Bug 155397] Place Windows and Window Rules cannot work together

2007-10-21 Thread grybba
Public bug reported:

I set up a workspace for a certain windows (e.g. xdvi) to appear on
Workspace 2 in Place Windows. Then I set up Windows Rules for the same
application. If I launch the application from the Workspace 2 terminal,
then the Windows Rules setup is applied and the window appears in the
fullscreen mode. If I launch the xdvi from other workspace the Place
Windows work and puts it on Workspace 2, but Windows Rules are not
applied to it.

Anyone experienced the same behaviour?

[Bug 82188] Re: Brightness control via ACPI in HP notebooks

2007-02-02 Thread grybba
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 68617 ***

This fix does not work for me and I think that my problem is located in
a different place. I do not have a possibility to adjust brightness in
Power Management in Gnome - it seems that Ubuntu is unaware of the fact
that the brightness of my LCD can be changed using ACPI. I assume that
if HAL knew about the ACPI possibility of adjusting brightness via
writing to the file, an appropriate slider would appear in Power
Management but there is nothing like this in there. So this definitely
not a duplicate of a bug #68617. Please do remove the duplicate flag as
the bug is still valid.

[Bug 82188] Re: Brightness control via ACPI in HP notebooks

2007-02-02 Thread grybba
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 68617 ***

I just wanted to add that all the HP notebook users would be extremely
happy if this thing would get fixed. Running the LCD all the time at the
full brightness really decreases the battery life and is, together with
the suspend issue, one of the two remaining problems with Ubuntu on HP
laptops - otherwise it is just perfect ;).

[Bug 82188] Re: Brightness control via ACPI in HP notebooks

2007-02-01 Thread grybba
Yes, I would like the power managment to be able to adjust the
brightness if running on batteries. For example there is a simple Power
Manager in Kubuntu, and, in general, it allows to setup brightness if
running on batteries. This tool does not allow to set up brightness on
my notebook - I've checked some forums and found out that the reason is
that the HAL is not recognizing the possibility of adjusting brightness.
I guessed that making hald aware of it would solve the problem.

[Bug 82188] Brightness control via ACPI in HP notebooks

2007-01-29 Thread grybba
Public bug reported:

I own a HP notebook model nx7400 EY505ES with BIOS F.08 and neither ubuntu edgy
nor feisty recognizes the brightness control of the built in LCD. The
brightness of the LCD can be easily changed via writing to the file:
/proc/acpi/video/C080/C13F/brightness. The file contains:
levels: 100 51 30 37 44 51 58 65 72 79 86 93 100
current: 51
The brightness can be changed via issuing
sudo bash
echo 51 brightness
The numbers echoed into the file have to come from the list, and the number 100
is impossible to enter this way. Is there a way to make the ubuntu aware of
these possibility?

[Bug 81767] Suspend to RAM does not work well on HP notebook nx7400 in feisty

2007-01-26 Thread grybba
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu 6.10 and Kubuntu feisty on HP Compaq nx7400. There
is no possibility of suspend to RAM on 6.10 with the old kernel. On
feisty with the default kernel 2.6.20 the laptop suspends and it wakes
up, but the screen remains black and the keyboard is innactive. The
power button switches it off with the usual Kubuntu turn off sound so I
assume that the computer is woken up. Any help would be of great value.

[Bug 75610] Re: Arrow keys are not working properly

2006-12-14 Thread grybba
The same happens while using the bar in totem and a mouse. Gxine plays
the movie well and says that it is OGG 480x352 ISO MPEG-4 (XviD,
ffmpeg). The problem does not appear with all of the movies I play, only
with some.

[Bug 75610] Arrow keys are not working properly

2006-12-13 Thread grybba
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem-gstreamer

Arrow keys are not working properly while browsing through an .avi file.
The backwards key desynchronizes the movie, so the video is still (and
the audio is playing) for 2-3 second untill the audio catches up.
Sometimes the backwards key will stop the movie altogether (althought
the totem frontend shows playing) and the only possibility to renew the
play is to use forward key to jump forward.

[Bug 70977] Re: Totem crashes on exit

2006-12-11 Thread grybba
My crash didn't have anything to do with quick succesion of files
played, or a visualisation. I played an avi file. Truly I did not know
where to post this crash report - this bug seemed the most appropriate.
If it is of no use I apologise for confusion.
