[Bug 567701] [NEW] Date not updated by ntp when network interfaces started

2010-04-20 Thread hlamer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ntp

/etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate contains script, which should update time, when
network interface started.
But, time doesn't updated for me from the box, because there are no valid ntp
server in the default settings:

a...@a-laptop:/etc$ cat default/ntpdate.orig
# The settings in this file are used by the program ntpdate-debian, but not
# by the upstream program ntpdate.

# Set to yes to take the server list from /etc/ntp.conf, from package ntp,
# so you only have to keep it in one place.
NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF=yes

# List of NTP servers to use (Separate multiple servers with spaces.)
# Not used if NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF is yes.
NTPSERVERS=ntp.ubuntu.com

# Additional options to pass to ntpdate
NTPOPTIONS=
a...@a-laptop:/etc$ cat ntp.conf
a...@a-laptop:/etc$

/etc/default/ntpdate says to use /etc/ntp.conf, but, /etc/ntp.conf is empty
I don't know what is original idea of authors, but I fixed /etc/default/ntpdate
for use ubuntu NTP server.

[Bug 431185] [NEW] pppd not connected when temporary blocked

2009-09-17 Thread hlamer
Public bug reported:

Hi

I had 2 problems with pppd. First:
1) I have been trying to connect with incorrect password, and my account get
blocked. Seems because was made too much of atempts, and it looked like brure
force. It might be better to stop atempts, if password is invalid.

2) When account is blocked, pppd does not understand server message, and
stopped atempts to connect before account is unblocked. I think it's
better to parse server answer and wait xxx seconds before account gets
unblocked.

I have not the latest version of Ubuntu, so, not sure if bug is not
fixed yet

Here is log for problem 2:

[Bug 334780] [NEW] Mounting usb drives: utf8 not supported by default

2009-02-26 Thread hlamer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-generic

Hello

Every time when I try to mount my flash drive and ntfs filesystems with
Cyrillic filenames on newly installed ubuntu, I have problems with charset. I
have to configure fstab
('iocharset=utf8' for FAT, something like a 'nls=utf8' for NTFS)

Even windows uses unicode, but ubuntu uses strange 1byte charsets. From

[Bug 245978] [NEW] amarok package possible have unneeded depends

2008-07-06 Thread hlamer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

Hello.

Amarok player have support of SQListe, Postgresql, and MySQL for storing of
some data.
And, amarok package depends on both libmysqlclient15off and libsqlite3-0.
I using SQLite, which are selected by default in the Amarok settings, but,
amarok installed MySQL too, which never used by any software on my computer,
bug taking some place and some traffic for updates.

If you can't just not install all supported DB engines, because amarok
will crash, I think, it's bug of amarok.

Thanks,
Andrei

(I using Ubuntu 8.04 with kde-desktop installed)

[Bug 154236] kubuntu update tool

2007-10-19 Thread hlamer
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu update tool exiting, when too less free space. Why do not add button
Retry. I can free some space and press it.
It's terrible, when I see progress 99%, and fetching file 40/50 .
fetching file 54/60 fetching file 60/72.
Why you showing fake progress?
Why you not using apt-get for download files. Every time when update tool
chashed, I need to wait while it's will download files again.
I runned update tool and wented away from computer, with hope it's will finish
when I will come to work at morning, but at morning there was just message

It's a kubuntu 7.04 system installed from the cd to the hard drive.
Possible sometimes iocharset=utf8 is in the fstab, and isn't on my computer,
because I have 2 cdrom drives.
peace of the default fstab:
/dev/hdc/media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0
/dev/hdd/media/cdrom1 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0

And this problem was tested by else one man from the russian ubuntu comunity.
