[Bug 1924624] [NEW] after upgrade to 5.8.0-49 with intel graphics a lot of glitches render screen unusable
Public bug reported: After upgrading to 5.8.0-49, on a laprtop with intel graphics, graphics was suddenly extremely glitchy. Icons from the desktop flash through the browser, windows top bar gets distorted, all sort of glitches appear, parts of characters are missing in terminal, scrolling is inconsistent and the whole desktop becomes unusable. Under wayland the graphics are a bit more stable, but lots of glitches appear anyway, video reproduction in browser is stuttering and wobbly. Booting with previous kernel 5.8.0-48 seems to fix the issues. 5.8.0-50 is broken as well. this is the result of 'sudo lshw -c video' on my hp Elitebook 8470: *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@:00:02.0 version: 09 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:33 memory:d400-d43f memory:c000-cfff ioport:4000(size=64) memory:c-d ** Affects: linux-meta-hwe-5.8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1924624 Title: after upgrade to 5.8.0-49 with intel graphics a lot of glitches render screen unusable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta-hwe-5.8/+bug/1924624/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 361693] Re: Aiptek tablet only registers as a mouse in /dev/input
I have had a look at how wacom tablets are supported in Lucid: seems fdi files have to be translated to udev rules, see this: https://wiki.kubuntu.org/X/InputConfiguration and then we are back to a sort of xorg.conf configuration system, through local snippets added in /usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d I will try to see if I can work things out. I was thinking about adding udev rules like this: ACTION!="add|change", GOTO="xorg_aiptek_end" KERNEL!="event[0-9]*", GOTO="xorg_aiptek_end" ATTRS{idVendor}=="08ca", ENV{x11_driver}="aiptek", SYMLINK+="input/aiptektablet" LABEL="xorg_aiptek_end and a '10-aiptek.conf' xorg.conf.d snippets more or less like this: Section "InputClass" Identifier "pen" MatchProduct "Aiptek|AIPTEK|aiptek" MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*" Driver "aiptek" Option "SendCoreEvents" "true" Option "USB" "on" Option "Type" "stylus" Option "Mode" "absolute" Option "zMin" "0" Option "zMax" "511" EndSection Has anyone already tried this kind of approach? -- Aiptek tablet only registers as a mouse in /dev/input https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/361693 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 573316] [NEW] after upgrading to ubuntu I have problems with booting due to a random swap of dev disk entries
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mountall since installing lucid I have serious problems at booting: I have a IDE disk and two SATA. root partition is in first partition of ide disk. the disks at each boot are given often different /dev entries, don't really know why, but that shouldn't matter much as entries in fstab and grub both use the UUID reference. The problem arises, it seems, when fsck is called at boot time. it seems that in fsck or mount the /dev approach is used, and not the by-uuid trick, so boot goes well only when, randomly, drives are given the same /dev name they had at install time. ** Affects: mountall (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- after upgrading to ubuntu I have problems with booting due to a random swap of dev disk entries https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573316 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba since i've upgraded to hardy i'm not able to use my samba shares anymore when mounted. i used to mount a samba share from file server at boot through fstab, here is the fstab line: //server/share /media/server_dati smbfs auto,iocharset=utf8,uid=user,gid=user,credentials=/root/.cifscredentials,noperm 0 0 share is correctly mounted, no error messages, and permissions on files and directory are correctly set, but despite this, i can't even read files on the mounted share, always given a "no permission" error. i cant process files through less or cat, can't move or delete them, can't copy them... no access at all, though ls reports good permissions and therefore i suppose i should be allowed to use them. If i mount the same share through nautilus net resources i can access files perfectly, and fstab mounting under gutsy used to work as expected. i tried changing fstab line with file_mode and dir_mode set to 0777 or 0770, but no luck: files seem to have right permissions but can't be read or written. tried to use cifs instead of smbfs, but same results (i suspect in hardy they are now the same, isn't it?). i think this is quite a serious step back. will switch to nfs: since it's a client problem windows workstations should be able to access old samba shares as usual (the server is an old machine with a very old mandrake linux), but it would be nice to have it working again. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- no way to read and write files on mounted samba share on hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210741 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
