[Bug 1865642] Re: package dma 0.11-2 failed to install/upgrade: installed dma package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 128

2021-02-20 Thread intherye
Also happened for me when updating from 18.04 to 20.04 on a x64-VM
(qemu/kvm).

I worked around by "apt remove dma", "apt install dma"

[Bug 1835622] Re: Cannot start desktop session with compositor enabled

2019-08-06 Thread intherye
@Timo: I could not test this earlier because I was on holidays. So
finally here are the results:

1. (If I understand correctly the fix from bug 1836721 is already in
bionic-updates) I upgraded all packages, but the bug still persists
(error message "xfwm4:
../src/mesa/drivers/dri/i965/intel_mipmap_tree.c:1285:
intel_miptree_match_image: Assertion `image->TexObject->Target ==
mt->target' failed.")

2. So I enabled ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/updates and upgraded all packages, but
the error still persists.

>From my point of view it seems this bug is not fixed by bug 1836721.

2016-10-22 Thread intherye
I'm seeing this problem also on Xubuntu 16.04.1

I can also add another symptom to the reporters observations:

5) When locking the screen again with Ctrl+Alt+Del both screens are
blanked (background light still on) and the computer does not react to
keyboard inputs (I can SSH in).

[Bug 1574316] Re: Defective display when booting from 16.04 LiveCD (Ubuntu and Xubuntu) in Virtualbox

2016-06-05 Thread intherye
As the problem occurs when booting the Live CD, I'm not sure how to
test/reproduce it with installing another package.

The linked ticket from VirtualBox upstream does not seem related (I have
disabled 3D and 2D acceleration).

I also made another test with the current Yakkety Daily Build Live ISO
(Xubuntu). The problem is fixed there.

Are there any 16.04.1 dailies where I could check that?

[Bug 1574316] Re: Defective display when booting from 16.04 LiveCD (Ubuntu and Xubuntu) in Virtualbox

2016-05-03 Thread intherye
I did not find an option to change the emulated graphics adapter in
Virtualbox, also no hint in the documentation. The VGA adapter is
reported as "Innotek Systemberatung GmbH VirtualBox Graphics Adapter" by
lspci in the guest. The documentation mentions though the VGA adapter
and EFI: https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.html#efividmode

I tried changing the chipset from PIIX3 to ICH9 in the guest, which made
no difference regarding this issue (except the VM seemed much slower).

[Bug 1574316] [NEW] Defective display when booting from 16.04 LiveCD (Ubuntu and Xubuntu) in Virtualbox

2016-04-24 Thread intherye
Public bug reported:

When booting from the 16.04 LiveCD (Xubuntu and Ubuntu) in Virtualbox
the display is defective when the Language selection dialog and the
LiveCD/Install Ubuntu choice should appear.

Defective display means (will attach a screenshot):
- no fonts or graphics visible
- strange colors
- display is wider than it should be (approx. factor two)
- when moving the mouse, I see a big defective mouse pointer

I'm using the amd64 ISOs on an amd64 Xubuntu 14.04 host with VirtualBox
from the Ubuntu repos (Extensionpack from Oracle installed).

When changing with Host-key (right Ctrl in my case)+F2 to another
console and switch back with Host-key-F1, the language selection screen
is correctly displayed. The other consoles are unusable though. Note
that the installer is on F1, not F7

Furthermore, if I enable EFI in the guest settings a grub menu appears
with the Xubuntu ISO, where I can select Try/Install and the display
works OK with these options. EFI with Ubuntu ISO gives me an EFI prompt,
which I'm not familiar with.

This problem did not occur with the Xubuntu Betas and one of the last
dailies.

Did you upgrade via 14.10. Direct upgrade from 14.04 to 15.04 is not
supported:

I'm pretty sure the bug does not have something to do with gpager.

Seems to be fixed in libgpgme11 (1.4.3-0.1ubuntu5). I don't get the
error message anymore.

It doesn't happen if I downgrade libgpgme11 to version 1.4.2-0.1ubuntu3

[Bug 1299138] Re: [users-admin] User settings might hang when password is too simple

2014-03-30 Thread intherye
I could reproduce the bug here on another computer running Xubuntu 13.10 as
well. How to reproduce:
1. run users-admin
2. for your user, on the right side at password: click change
3. enter the current password, for new password enter e.g. a12345 twice and
click OK. A popup says The new password is too simple. Click Close.
4. Enter the same password twice again, and click OK again. I would expect
the same message to pop up again, but instead the application hangs: Mouse has
the waiting cursor/running circle.
5. You can close the window normally though.

I hope you can reproduce it this way.

The output from the terminal for starting users admin:
--
$ users-admin

(users-admin:1794): Liboobs-WARNING **: There was an unknown error
communicating asynchronously with the backends: Launch helper exited with
unknown return code 255

No output for steps 2-4. When closing the window:

** (users-admin:1794): CRITICAL **: gst_user_profiles_get_for_user: assertion
'GST_IS_USER_PROFILES (profiles)' failed

(users-admin:1794): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid unclassed pointer
in cast to 'OobsGroupsConfig'

(users-admin:1794): Liboobs-CRITICAL **: oobs_groups_config_get_groups:

[Bug 1240009] Re: transmission-gtk tries to open non-existent help URL

On the web server side, the URL exists now, so opening Help Contents
does not lead to an error anymore. Ticket can be closed.

[Bug 1299138] [NEW] User settings might hang when password is too simple

2014-03-28 Thread intherye
Public bug reported:

When changing password in Xfce-Settings - Users and Groups, and
supplying a too simple password (e.g. a12345), the application might

running Xubuntu 14.04 and one Laptop running Xubuntu 13.10.
