Confirmed, same thing happening in a Thinkpad T440p, intel i7-4800MQ. Today I upgraded Firefox and immediately afterwards, the browser started showing similar glitches. [Bug 1046154] [NEW] Can't resolve OpenVPN DNS while using a 3G connection with resolvconf installed
Public bug reported: Ubuntu version: fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 64 bits (3.2.0-29-generic) Resolvconf package version: 1.63ubuntu15 What I expected to happen: Connect through 3G (bluetooth DUN), connect to a OpenVPN and be able to resolve the internal domain names to access some servers. What happened instead: I can't resolve internal hostnames. Additional information: It only breaks when connecting through 3G. When connecting through Wifi/Cable it works perfectly. Workaround: Uninstalling the package resolvconf seems to solve the problem. Other users probably affected: http://mobilesociety.typepad.com/mobile_life/2012/07/ubuntu-1204-the- network-manager-3g-internet-and-vpn.html I've looked at other bug reports and tried other solutions: * #922578. [Bug 553362] [NEW] Start script creates /var/run/mysqld with static owner
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mysql-server-5.1 I run a mysql server (5.1.37-1ubuntu5.1) in my laptop (Ubuntu Karmic 64) with my personal user "ignacio", instead of the default "mysql". The problem: After defining the user on /etc/mysql/my.cnf and taking care of permissions, mysql server won't start. The workaround: /etc/init.d/mysql script is the problem. I found out that on every start, the script creates /var/run/mysqld with the owner "mysql", and so the server doesn't start. After modifying this script (line 109), the server works perfectly. The question: Maybe the mysql start script could check into /etc/mysql/my.cnf to see what the correct user is? Is there any reason why this mysqld folder is recreated on every reboot? ** Affects: mysql-dfsg-5.1 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Start script creates /var/run/mysqld with static owner https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/553362 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 379313] Re: Handling NextWindow Touchscreen (multitouch)
NextWindow's answer: "the code will contain some very highly sensitive intellectual property". So they are not planning to release the code. That's bad news :(. Well, maybe someone can use the closed source driver to code an open one. What I'm gonna do right now is to give them some ideas about software patents. [Bug 379313] Re: Handling NextWindow Touchscreen (multitouch)
Update: After exchanging a few emails with NextWindow support, they finally sent me a driver, a "prototype written for ubuntu". I'm attaching the file they sent me. I don't have much information about it, but it works great with Ubuntu Karmic i386! These are the steps I took: - Install Ubuntu 9.10 i386. - Install the driver (nwfermi-0.1_i383.deb) - Install some extra software: joystick (for testing) and xserver-xorg- input-evtouch. - Load the module: sudo modprobe nw-fermi - Activate the input device: sudo sh -c "echo 1926 007a > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/nwfermi/new_id" - After this, the device "/dev/input/event6" is working. Testing: sudo evtest /dev/input/event6 - Restart Xorg (restart the session) Moreover, I tweaked to work after reboot: - Add "nw-fermi" to /etc/modules - Add boot script to /etc/rc.local sh -c "echo 1926 007a > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/nwfermi/new_id" I hope this works for someone, I had never seen "nw-fermi" before. If it's new code, we should probably ask NextWindow to release the code. ** Attachment added: "nwfermi-0.1_i386.deb" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/40645019/nwfermi-0.1_i386.deb -- Handling NextWindow Touchscreen (multitouch) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/379313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 379313] Re: Handling NextWindow Touchscreen (multitouch)
I have a Dell Inspiron One Touch with Nextwindow Touchscreen. Sadly, I believe it is a different model as lsusb reports: Bus 002 Device 002: ID 1926:007a I have managed to make it appear in /dev/input/event6 with the commands: sudo modprobe usbtouchscreen sudo sh -c "echo 1926 007a > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usbtouchscreen/new_id" After that, I've tried evtest: evtest /dev/input/event6 But the screen is sending no input when I touch it. I'm not sure if my problem is from xserver-xorg-input-evdev package, or maybe usbtouchscreen module. [Bug 435374] Re: thinkpad t500 suspend key not work
I just upgrades to Jaunty beta and suspend key stopped working in Thinkpad T400. I created a file in /etc/acpi/events with the contents of pavolzetor's "/etc/acpi/events" file. That made my suspend key work again. There's still something weird. Suspension works differently depending on the method used: - FN+F4. Screen goes black smoothly, then it suspends. When it wakes up I have to enter my password. Just the same as in Jaunty. - Gnome icon. Screen goes black suddenly and it suspends much faster. When it wakes up it doesn't ask for a password. I'm satisfies with the Jaunty speed, but I'm a bit puzzled at the differences. -- thinkpad t500 suspend key not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/435374 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 359449] [NEW] 2.6.28-11 breaks mouse scrolling
Public bug reported: After updating to Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04, my PS2 IBM mouse (Model 12J3619) has stopped scrolling with kernel 2.6.28-11-generic (i386). Booting with kernel 2.6.27-11-generic (i386) solves the problem. Booting with another OS also works, so I deduce it is not a hardware problem. This mouse is a bit special. It doesn't have a wheel but a "trackpoint" you push up and down (without middle click). It looks (almost) like this: http://www.almaden.ibm.com/cs/user/tp/tpmouse1.GIF. My laptop's external USB mouse works, but I really love my IBM PS2 :D. I'm using a Nvidia Gforce 8400 GS with propietary drivers (version 180). Xev doesn't print anything when I scroll, but I noticed something weird with "xinput list". The output is different with 2.6.28-11 (scroll doesn't work) and with 2.6.27-11 (scroll works). Both outputs are attached, and also a "lspci -vvnn". ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- 2.6.28-11 breaks mouse scrolling https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359449 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
