[Bug 443113] Re: Error probing SMB2 boot message on nVidia ION chipset (Acer Aspire Revo, ASrock ION 330, ASUS netbooks...)

2012-09-10 Thread itoas
Same with a Asus M3N78-EM Motherboard.

To get Ubuntu booting every time you can disable the splash screen in
the kernel parameter or hit ESC while Ubuntu is showing the splash
screen. With this booting won't stuck.

To disable splash screen modify as root in /etc/default/grub

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash
to
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=

Save it and run as root: update-grub

[Bug 880798] Re: Launcher - should allow to dnd on any icon (and not just the ones matching the type)

2012-04-30 Thread itoas
There are now two strange behaviours:

1a. DragDrop a file from Desktop (even from an open Nautilus window ) to
launcher: Only programs with according mimes are highlighted.
1b. DragDrop from a Nautlius Folder (not Desktop or Subfolder of Desktop): all
starter are highlighted

2. If you Quickly DragDrop from Desktop to launcher (push it to the
most left): all starter are highlighted.

I would expect the 'desktop-behaviour': Highlight only apps that can handle the
dragged mimetype (but give the possibility to drop also on other apps).

[Bug 901651] [NEW] allow multiple shared folders for rdp

2011-12-08 Thread itoas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS
remmina-plugin-rdp 0.9.2-0~ppa1

In the configuration dialog we have only one field to specify a shared folder.

With freerdp one can specify unlimites shared folders, e.g.
xfreerdp --plugin rdpsnd --plugin rdpdr --data disk:media:/media/ --plugin
rdpsnd --plugin rdpdr --data disk:myhome:$HOME --plugin rdpdr --data
disk:shares:$HOME/.gvfs -- terminal.example.com

Remmina should support multiple shares - at least in the config file.

[Bug 330766] Re: pulseaudio hangs, prevents login, home as ntfs

2011-07-23 Thread itoas
This is an old bug but the issue remains if mounting homefolder with cifs.
If unix extensions are not enabled in samba pulseaudio cannot create a symlink
to /tmp.

To workaround this you can use solution #34
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/330766/comments/34)
or use the bind command (no need of an extra partition):

e.g. mount --bind /tmp/volcano /home/volcano/.pulse

For even more flexibility use pam_mount:
e.g volume path=/tmp/%(USER) mountpoint=~/.pulse options=bind /

Please note: the folder /tmp/volcano has to exist with owner:group
volcano:volcano.

[Bug 711914] Re: Presenter Console doesn't work

Same here with latest Libreoffice and presenter-console from Repo on

1. I uninstalled Libreoffice and reinstalled Openoffice and presenter-console

2. Uninstall OpenOfice and reinstall Libreoffice with presenter-console from
repo → nothing.
3. Uninstall presenter-console and installed extension from OpenOffice [1] →
nothing.

But it works without problems on LibreOffice with Ubuntu 10.10.

[Bug 711914] Re: Presenter Console doesn't work

2011-04-08 Thread itoas
Now I'm a bit confused: After a reboot the presenter console works.

Maybe it helps to sudo apt-get purge openoffice*.* to make a clean
OpenOffice uninstall (i didnt this the first time - only made the
partial Upgrade method. The second time i followed this post [1]).

After reboot in installed libreoffice-officebean and afterwards I tried
the presenter-console. But even after uninstallation of officebean the
konsole keeps working.

[Bug 446510] Re: Evince refuses to load remote pdf files (http) which it will load nicely once they are downloaded.

2011-02-07 Thread itoas
* Is this reproducible?

Yes.

 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
If you have a remote PDF file with relative links to an other file on the
server, evince can not open it.

I investigated on this and it seems that evince can handle this properly if the
file is opend directly (e.g. via shell # evince
http://www.example.org/pathto/file.pdf).
But when open a pdf file via browser while surfing (in my case Firefox) it
doesn't pass the url to evince but the path to the downloaded file. To fix
this, the browser should only pass the url to the external application.

* Expected behaviour
As Adobe Reader BrowserPlugin: Render the pdf 'on the server'. Then the
relative links to others documents on the server would work.
And: Do not open relative linked Documents in an new window, replace the
existing document instead.

* Testcase
I've made a simple testcase with two files. Extract those into a local folder.
Open Mainfile.pdf and click on the link. Second_file.pdf is (as expected) opend
in an new window.
Now upload the files to a server and open Mainfile.pdf on the Server via
Browser.

** Attachment added: Testcase with two linked files

[Bug 446510] Re: Evince refuses to load remote pdf files (http) which it will load nicely once they are downloaded.

2011-02-07 Thread itoas
To achieve 'direct rendering' of a PDF file in Firefox you can use
mozplugger with the 'stream' flag set. But the drawback that evince is
open relative paths to an other pdf in a new window remains (should I
open a new Bug concerning this?)

Example /etc/mozpluggerrc
---
application/pdf:pdf:PDF file
application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill stream: evince $file
ACROREAD()
repeat noisy swallow(kpdf) fill: kpdf $file
repeat noisy swallow(Xpdf) fill: xpdf -g +9000+9000 $file
repeat noisy swallow(okular) fill: okular $file
GV()
repeat noisy fill exits stream: evince $file

[Bug 697523] [NEW] html thumbnails in nautilus are not created (full path to the executable missung in thumnail command)

2011-01-04 Thread itoas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 10.04
gnome-web-photo version 0.8

When installing gnome-web-photo a entry for the nautilus thumbnailer is
made in /desktop/gnome/thumbnailers/t...@html but no thumbnails are
created.

Problem: There is no full path to the executable in the thumbnail command:
gnome-web-photo --mode=thumbnail --timeout=16 --size=%s %u %o

Solution: Full path to executable
/usr/bin/gnome-web-photo --mode=thumbnail --timeout=16 --size=%s %u %o

[Bug 646954] Re: failed to load 32bit immodules

Non native JP, CN users (eg de_CH ) also need a ibus-gtk.immodules file

To summarize:
Users who want to use ibs in 32bit applications on a 64bit system under 10.04

1. Install these modules in /usr/lib32/: libibus1 ibus ibus-gtk libibus-qt4

2. Create a gtk.immodules.32 in /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/ (see attachment for an

3. Create a ibus-gtk.immodules in /usr/lib32/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodule-files.d/

[Bug 31471] Re: Firefox file selector should show remote shares

2010-11-07 Thread itoas
Is Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402892 (Switch from
gnome-vfs to GIO) is related?
Comment #31 suggests this (so subsequent #483443 would be related).

I installed FF 4.0 from
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-daily/+archive/ppa but problem stayed
(Lucid).
Maybe someone should specify
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=526293?

[Bug 633256] [NEW] Ubuntu freezes during startup (hit esc solves this)

2010-09-08 Thread itoas
Public bug reported:

When booting up the splash-screen freezes
Hitting once the esc key while boot resolves this temporarily.

This workaround fixed the issue:
(stolen from bug #620606)

Modify as root: /etc/default/grub

clip
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash
/clip

to

clip
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=
/clip

save file and run as root: update-grub

This removes the splash screen from system boot and makes the boot
process visible on screen as text.

[Bug 519535] Re: Shift + Alt Gr no longer works as the Compose key

2010-03-03 Thread itoas
Same here:
According to Documentation (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ComposeKey) the
use of shift+ AtlGr should be the default Compose Key (Multi_Key).

1. Shift + AltGr doesn't behave as compose key even if Compose Key isn't
defined.
2. Go to Layout Options (System → Preferences → Keyboard →Layouts → [Layout
Options]) and change 'compose key position' to any key. Close. Now you can make
all characters defined in GtkConmposeTable (eg compose_key + o + r [®]).
3. Go back to 'Layout Options' and deactivate all 'compose key postitions'.
Close (you can even relogin).
4. None of the charakters defined in GtkConmposeTable can't be typed using
shift + AltGr as compose key (eg Shift + AltGr + o + r ).

It isn't a solution to choose AltGr manually as Compose Key because
afterwards AltGr and AltGr + Shift (as 4rd Level Chooser) won't work
anymore.

2009-11-24 Thread itoas
When closing scim (via Menu) the tray icon appears. Same effect on different
other Systems upgraded from 9.04.
Maybe wrong args in /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/scim-bridge?
