2016-01-07 Thread j-stuffer
Well okay, "ttf-mscorefonts-installer.FAILED" must be "ttf-mscorefonts-
installer.failed" as ".FAILED" does not exist, but ".failed" does. I
tried it with "ttf-mscorefonts-installer.failed" now.

[Bug 1371783] Re: package ttf-mscorefonts-installer 3.4+nmu1ubuntu2 (utopic) fails to install/upgrade

2016-01-03 Thread j-stuffer
Not yet. I installed Playonlinux and got this error. When installing Steam via
Playonlinux (for Quake Live), it also promted that it needs these files. It
downloaded (or said it downloads) the files and I could start Steam. But 1 day
later the popup came again. I wanted to try 2 more things: 1) Installing wine,
perhaps wine fetches the fonts correctly (I read that somewhere) 2) copying the
files from my installation on my laptop. Do you know, which files exactly I
need and where are they?
Now I am on my laptop, tomorrow I will have access to my desktop again.
It's not too big of a deal anyways, as Playonlinux and Steam via Playonlinux
(and thus Quake Live) run without problems. It's just annoying at the moment.

I have this problem on a fresh install of Ubuntu 15.10. Tried it about
20-30 times (different approachs: with a klick on the the popup window,
via terminal, with purge, without purge etc.) , the installation always
fails, the fonts at which it fails are different though.

[Bug 987220] Re: System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI

2012-12-01 Thread j-stuffer
Seems for me opera (perhaps flash plugin?) is in deed connected to my problems
in shutting down the PC.
The last two times I could not shut down the system, after I rebboted and
started opera, opera told me that opera crashed and if I want to continue the
session. But prior to shutting down I always closed opera and shut down the
system shortly after.

[Bug 755842] Re: Non-maximized windows which sit on the border of a workspace move when called

2012-10-20 Thread j-stuffer
For me the Bug is still existing in 12.10 as well as in 12.04 and I can
reproduce it every time with the steps androith mentioned above (second
workspace = the workspace on the upper right!). Should I or someone else
make a video to make it more clearly how the bug is triggered?

[Bug 996343] Re: Game performance is choppier with compiz enabled (not unity)

2012-10-08 Thread j-stuffer
Hi, I hope this is the right bug report to comment on :)

For me several games still run really slowy in Unity, but run okay in Unity 2D
or on a seperate X-server. Recent examples are Dustforce, Oil Rush and
Jamestown. For example Oil Rush with ultra/high has 53 fps in the main window
on a seperate X-server but only has 33 fps and very laggy mouse cursor under
unity. Dustforce and Jamestown are not even 3D-games and have very simple
graphics but are very slow in Unity. Both run really smoothly in Unity 2D or on
a seperate X-server (ctrl+alt+f1, log in and then startx
/usr/bin/ck-launch-session /opt/jamestown/Jamestown -- :1).
I also tested:
- Gnome Classic with effects: Same issue as with Unity 3D
- Gnome 3 Shell: No problems

The cause for the problem could also be the proprietary nvidia drivers.
For example Jamestown and Dustforce on my main PC (Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz,
GeForce GTS 450) have performance problems with Unity. But on my laptop
(Dell Studio 1558 i3 with ATI 5740, I think) both games run okay (didn't
test Oilrush, as the download is very big). And that's a bit surprising,
as my Desktop PC overall should provide a lot more gaming performance
than my Laptop.

[Bug 987304] Re: [regression] [precise] 3D apps run much slower under Unity

2012-10-05 Thread j-stuffer
Thanks for the answer. I will just post one more comment here, because I don't
know if I should file a new bug. Because I made some research and it seems that
the cause for the problem could also be the proprietary nvidia drivers. For
example Jamestown on my main PC (nvidia Geforce 450 gts, I think) also has
performance problems with Unity, for example the mouse cursor in te main menu
is laggy (and the game itself, too). starting it on a seperate x-server
(ctrl+alt+f1, log in and then startx /usr/bin/ck-launch-session
/opt/jamestown/Jamestown -- :1) solves that problem (like with I think every
other game that feels laggy).
But on my laptop (some ATI) the game Jamestown runs fine (except the last
level). And that's a bit surprising, as my Desktop PC overall has a lot more
performance than my Laptop. So this might be an nvidia issue. I'll test some
more games, if they run under unity on my laptop also better than on my desktop.

I think it would not really help a lot to report an nvidia-issue here,
right?

2012-08-19 Thread j-stuffer
Ok, now I'm quite sure this happenes to me, when opera still runs while
I try to shut down the computer. When I close opera before, it works.

(P.S. Some time ago, I think the computer did not shut down, even though
I had closed opera. But this seems to be fixed now, It seems)

The last times that happened to me, I had opera open when I shut down.
Only a wild guess: Maybe it has something to do with flash?
