[Bug 1893065] Re: Gnome applications launching very slow
Hi! After running nautilus from the command line, I received a log showing what is happening in my case. The problem is generated by the gphoto2 services. To fix it, I removed the service. After that, the Nautilus and Gnome applications that depend on file system services returned to work fine again. I have opened a issue in gphoto2 repositoy on Github for investigation and fix. [Bug 1893065] [NEW] Gnome applications launching very slow

[Bug 1716857] Re: gdm3, hybrid nvidia with modeset=1, no external monitors detected
Same issue in here on Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS. I have a Dell G3 3579 with Nvidia Geforce 1050TI. I've tried to use a Samsung SmartTV as a secondary display connected to HDMI port but Gnome settings only shows laptop display. I've tested drivers 390, 396, 410, and 415 without success. This issue doesn't occurs using lightdm instead of gdm3. I think developers have to solve this issue that has been reporting since 2017-09-13 and people who wants do use a external HDMI TV/Monitor to play games, like me, will face this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1716857 Title: gdm3, hybrid nvidia with modeset=1, no external monitors detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1716857/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1746590] [NEW] unity panel service error: system crashes/unresponsive on every panel buttons click
Public bug reported: Since more or less a month ago I experienced OS crashes when clicking any panel button (calendar, volume, battery, etc). Only the mouse pointer still moves, but the system becomes totally unresponsive so I have to force power-off. I checked my syslog and the message before the power-off was: Jan 16 14:13:07 jeco-pc kernel: [18048.538695] unity-panel-ser[1871]: segfault at 1ac32 ip 00406ea9 sp 7ffeedafe0a0 error 4 in unity-panel-service[40+12000]. I thought it was a similar issue as reported in https://askubuntu.com/questions/992571/gui-unity-crashing-in-16-04-lts- after-updates-2018-01-04-compiz-segfaults. So I followed instructions and installed libgl1-mesa-dri from xenial-proposed. After that, the system worked well for a few days and then again presented the same problem. I checked my syslog again and the message was: Jan 17 09:38:12 jeco-pc kernel: [ 2911.154812] traps: unity-panel- ser[1994] general protection ip:406ea9 sp:7ffc881ee780 error:0 in unity- panel-service[40+12000]. Following instructions posted in the question #663175 in launchpad, I ran an apt-get dist-upgrade. After that, the system worked well for one day. But now, the problem returned with the log: Jan 31 15:56:19 jeco-pc kernel: [ 3005.862110] unity-panel-ser[2200]: segfault at 61 ip 00406ea0 sp 7ffce922d1c0 error 4 in unity- panel-service[40+12000] Again, any click on a panel button means a system crash and a forced power-off. [Bug 1100843] Re: Live Migration Causes Performance Issues
I have a few VMs (precise) that process high-volume transaction jobs each night. After I've done a live-migrate operation to replace faulty power supply on a bare-metal server, we encountered sluggish performance on the migrated VMs, significant higher CPU is recorded in particular, where the same nightly job would consume way more CPU and took more time to finish on identical hardware. Upon investigation, we noticed that the only change introduced was the live migrate operation. Upon rebooting the guest OS of the VMs, the performance is back to normal. I suspect we're hitting the same problem as the one filed here.. I will attempt to run lmbench next to see if I would notice similar behavior on system calls costs as the one recorded in comments #19..21,23. -- Latest KVM is used from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS :: qemu-kvm (1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.8) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1100843 Title: Live Migration Causes Performance Issues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/1100843/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Confirmed for Xubuntu i386 11.10, 12.04, and 12.10. Disclaimer: I don't know Python, so I could be way off. [Bug 981168] Re: Regression: Installing apps causes a terrible visual glitch on netbooks-- have to restart X.org.
** Description changed: Installing any GUI app from the software center breaks the session with a visual glitch that hides everything. [Bug 540751] Re: Unable to use dead keys with java and ibus
I have the same problem. If I launch a Java application I can switch the input method to Anthy or Latex, but I have no accented characters, nor can get any character if I type dead key+space -- it seems that dead key are completed ignored. If I launch the Java application as XMODIFIERS='' java-app-name, than the dead key work as expected, but I can not switch the input method (so I can't use Anthy or Latex input methods). This is very frustrating since I have to type text in Portuguese, Japanese and English. [Bug 464639] Re: alc660-vd no sound after upgrade kubuntu 9.10
ok, solved!!! remembering The update manager identified some updates, but blocked the avaliable new kernel (don't know why). Then i get all the avaliable updates (including new kernel) by using synaptic (i like synaptic) when i restarted the grub2 was prompting. I tried so many ways to restore the grub, i was almost about giving up. And made another big mistake= blacked the files : stage1, stage2 and grub.cfg. The solution: i installed a new kubuntu in other partition and copy and paste those files to my old partition, Then run : grub =root=setup and get works without sound. I remembered all this mistakes today when I read your response end reinstall grub2, the grub2 put the correct kernel and the sound came. thank you for help and sorry for wrong sentences. -- alc660-vd no sound after upgrade kubuntu 9.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/464639 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 194279] Re: Dell Inspiron 8600 crashes during login when it's on battery power
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description does not yet have enough information. Please include the following additional information, if you have not already done so (pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team: 1. Please include the output of the command uname -a in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture. 2. Please run the command dmesg dmesg.log after a fresh boot and attach the resulting file dmesg.log to this bug report. 3. Please run the command sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log and attach the resulting file lspci-vvnn.log to this bug report. For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel- related bug reports is available at [WWW] http://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies. Thank you for your suggestion. However, the changes you are requesting aren't really a bug and require more discussion, which should be done on an appropriate mailing list or forum.
