Re: [Bug 268113] Re: opensync-plugin-synce with msynctool fails to connect to ipaq WM5

2010-05-27 Thread jolay
Thank you for the hint Mark,

I gave up with synce after reinstalling my linux box, but I shall give a try
when I have time for that since I still use my ipaq. Synce is still to my
opinion a key software.

Best regards,
Jolay

[Bug 383041] Re: CUPS prints characters mirrors on Epson ALC 2000

2010-02-11 Thread jolay
Sorry for the delay. When I tested last year, I still had the problem with cups
1.3.9-17ubuntu3.2, and could no do a full system upgrade at that time.
Everything works fine now on Kubuntu 9.10. So this bug can be closed
definitively.
Thank you very much

[Bug 275926] Re: nspluginviewer crashes when attempting to play wav url (konqueror and kontact/akreator)

The bug has been solved in KDE 4.2. I tested the meriam webster dictionary
check. Since the KDE 4.1.1, a lot of improvements have been included and
konqueror 4.2.4 is now becoming my principal webbrowser.

[Bug 383041] [NEW] cups prints characters mirrors on epson ALC 2OOO

2009-06-02 Thread jolay
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

My system is an up to date kubuntu jaunty 9.04
uname -a
Linux bombyx-z60m 2.6.28-12-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 1 19:27:06 UTC 2009
i686 GNU/Linux

Since a few weeks, I think after upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04, printing
on Epson Laser ALC 2000 is badly broken. The file looks good on the
screen, either when viewed in okular (when it is a PDF file) or in
Openoffice (ooo files). However, the printed document is not usable: the
printed pages are almost correct except they are full of characters
printed twice (one above the other, see the scanned paperprint).

The mirrored letters depend on the font, typeface, size. On the included
sample, notice the systematically mirrored bold "e", bold "o", thin "c"
and "C". Other documents had problem on "a" or "0" (zero). Changing the
character size or style may be a workaround when possible. I tried ppd
(Epson-AcuLaser_C2000PS-epalc200.ppd and Epson-
AcuLaser_C2000-eplaser.ppd) downloaded from openprinting.org without
success (I think it was byte to byte the same as the one already
installed).

Best regards.

[Bug 359572] [NEW] dolphin crashed after samba login dialog box

2009-04-11 Thread jolay
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dolphin

My system is an au-to-date Kubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.1.4.
I cannot connect to a samba share because dolphin crashes just after the samba
login dialog box is validated. Samba share works perfectly in konqueror.
See the given dolphin crashlog and the konsole output with a mention to a
mention about failed assertion:
ASSERT: "!listers.isEmpty()" in file
/build/buildd/kde4libs-4.1.4/kio/kio/kdirlister.cpp, line 1440

Once the smb fileshare is opened in konqueror, one can browse it using
konqueror menu "open with Dolphin".
See konqueror konsole output.

[Bug 350481] [NEW] netbeans export svg uml diagram bug with openjdk

2009-03-28 Thread jolay
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: netbeans

up to date Kubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.1.4
NetBeans IDE 6.1 (Build 080905)
Java: 1.6.0_0; OpenJDK Client VM 1.6.0_0-b12
System: Linux version 2.6.27-14-generic running on i386; UTF-8; fr_FR (nb)

Netbeans IDE does not export UML state diagram correctly into SVG
format. The shapes and arrows in the diagram seem to be correctely
rendered but the texts are moved outside the image bounding box. Export
in JPG or PNG are OK.

In inkscape, one can correct the SVG manually by flipping vertically the
texts twice: first, flip the group of text, and second, flip
individually. see file "test-openjdk.svg"

Workaround: use sun-java6
I might better report this bug under openjdk but I am not sure of the export
process in netbeans...
1. Add sun-java6 from the menu "Tools/Java Platforms"
2. Change the default jdk by editing /etc/netbeans.conf in order to use
sun-java6:
netbeans_jdkhome="/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun"
3. export again the same state diagram in SVG. The obtained SVG file is
correct. see file "test-sun-java6.svg"

[Bug 306199] Re: kontact kmail crashes on closing

2009-01-22 Thread jolay
Dear Richard,

I do not have the possibility to test these packages because I am stuck
on a machine which is still with KDE 4.1.3. I also changed kmail setup
in order to use DIMAP instead of IMAP. lt seems to work well (enough),
more confortable and without too much big crash despite some negative
advices from the net. May be some other users can give the information
you requested.

Best regards.

[Bug 281956] Re: evolution uses wrong date to switch to daylight saving timezone in timezone Europe/Brussels

2008-10-24 Thread jolay
I confirm this bug in evolution 2.22.3.1 on Hardy (KDE 3.5.10 or KDE 4),
with timezone Europe/Paris.

$ zdump -v Europe/Paris | grep 2008
Europe/Paris Sun Mar 30 00:59:59 2008 UTC = Sun Mar 30 01:59:59 2008 CET
isdst=0 gmtoff=3600
Europe/Paris Sun Mar 30 01:00:00 2008 UTC = Sun Mar 30 03:00:00 2008 CEST
isdst=1 gmtoff=7200
Europe/Paris Sun Oct 26 00:59:59 2008 UTC = Sun Oct 26 02:59:59 2008 CEST
isdst=1 gmtoff=7200
Europe/Paris Sun Oct 26 01:00:00 2008 UTC = Sun Oct 26 02:00:00 2008 CET
isdst=0 gmtoff=3600

See attached screenshot. Evolution timeline seems to switch to DST at
the beginning of week (Monday Oct.20) instead of next sunday (Oct.26).
Events in red on the screenshot are script-generated from an external
timetable. They are correctly aligned with the corresponding manually
edited events except this week.

Periodic appointements (in November and later) are displayed one hour
earlier.

[Bug 268113] [NEW] opensync-plugin-synce with msynctool fails to connect to ipaq WM5

2008-09-09 Thread jolay
Public bug reported:

# uname -a
Linux bombyx-dellm65 2.6.24-21-generic #1 SMP Mon Aug 25 16:57:51 UTC 2008
x86_64 GNU/Linux
Fully updated system with kubuntu 8.04, KDE 3.5.9
Installed : opensync, synce-hal, opensync-plugin-evolution,
opensync-plugin-synce, multisynt-tools, multisync0.90, kitchensync.

I think that any required thing is installed since I was able to synchronize
Evolution with the PDA a few months before, but I stopped using it because
opensync created duplicates (calendars and contacts) on both sides. It seems
that very similar items (same date and subject, or same name, surname, e-mail,
telephone etc) are not matched and opensync creates instead two items. By the
way, I shall be interested in any supervised calendar & contact duplicate
cleaning software because it takes me 2h to do the job (I made manual cleaning
a couple of time before giving up).

The PDA with windows mobile 5 is correctly recognized when plugged in the USB.
synce-sync-engine recognizes it and parses some config file but fails to setup
a partnership
A pingable IP address (164.x.x.x) is affected to rndis0 (allow-hotplug and
iface rndis0 inet dhcp in /etc/network/interfaces)
WM5: Activesync has been set up to use Rndis, no password
"sudo ufw status" shows no firewall loaded
synce-pls, synce-pstatus and synce-list-programs work
"synce-list-partnerships" gives two partnerships with the same PC (named
bombyx-dellm65)
"synce-matchmaker create" succeeds to set the partnership on #2
"msynctool --sync synce-sync --conflict 2" ends up after listing all the
changes from Evolution with the message
  "All clients have disconnected
The sync failed: Unable to read from one of the members
Error synchronizing: Unable to read from one of the members
   Pipe closed! Exiting.
   Pipe closed! Exiting."
"synce-kpm" fails to show in the trayicon and reports a mixed QT4 version.
  "Running dataserver
   running the GUI Part
   Cannot mix incompatible Qt libraries"

The Synce plugin seems to be disconnected (as also reported by
Kitchensync and multisync0.90) and does not send any information to
msynctool (?). I cannot see exactly what is going wrong.

Regards,
Jolay

[Bug 164934] Re: kooldock segging

2008-06-18 Thread jolay
I confirm the bug is reproducible with an up to date kubuntu 8.04/amd64.

uname -a:
Linux bombyx-dellm65 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Jun 4 15:10:52 UTC 2008
x86_64 GNU/Linux

Kooldock seems to restart after the crash. It crashes again and again when one
is mousing past the left end.
Mousing to the right end does not crash it.
Running in terminal gives :

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ kooldock: crashHandler called
KCrash: Application 'kooldock' crashing...
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3
  Major opcode: 20
  Minor opcode: 0

The call stack is the same as above. I include it because there are
additional information though I am not sure it helps much more.

[Bug 154900] Re: Kmail Create Task Icon of Poor Quality

2008-05-03 Thread jolay
This bug still exists on Kubuntu 8.04.
KMail 1.9.9
KDE 3.5.9
Linux 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 12:47:45 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

It appears when one asks for bigger icons in the kontact/kmail toolbars. It
seems to come from incomplete icon themes, for instance the icon named
"mail_todo.png".

For CrystalSVG theme, a kmail crystalsvg iconset is in the folder
/usr/share/apps/kmail/icons/. I am not sure whether it is better to modify
/usr/share/icons/crystalsvg/ or to modify
/usr/share/apps/kmail/icons/crystalsvg/, but the following works:

Copy as root the icon kontact_todo.png into mail_todo.png in their respective
size (32x32, 48x48 etc)
Example:
  /usr/share/icons/crystalsvg/32x32/actions/kontact_todo.png
into
  /usr/share/apps/kmail/icons/crystalsvg/32x32/actions/mail_todo.png

[Bug 151688] Re: Evolution cannot merge a second email

2008-02-26 Thread jolay
I am not sure if this is exactly the same bug that I frequently notice
on Evolution. My symptom is as follows:

- I edit a contact. Actually, I wanted to add a mobile phone number to an
existing number.
- On saving (click on button Validate), Evolution warns for a duplicate contact
but does not propose merging.
The names of the contacts are different, the contact I was editing (named yoyo)
contains two e-mail adresses, one of which is the same as that of the duplicate
(yoyotex). This second contact seems to have been generated automatically from
received e-mail.

I include the two vcf files as exported by evolution for testing if it
is confirmed (I modified the name).

[Bug 163168] Re: kde file picker clears filename

2008-02-13 Thread jolay
Correction:
right-click "save as" of attachment files in evolution forgets the original
filenames on directory change except one clicks first on the url bar (I know,
it's a gnome file chooser but I need evolution because of syncevolution &
funambol).

[Bug 163168] Re: kde file picker clears filename

2008-02-11 Thread jolay
This bug is present in Kubuntu Gutsy too:

uname -a : Linux bombyx-dellm65 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 31 23:33:13
UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
all latest (k)ubuntu packages to date
OpenOffice 2.3 : openoffice.org-core 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu.5.3

Symptom:
- open any existing OpenOffice document (or a new file)
- choose menu file/save as (use KDE file dialog)
- enter filename (if necessary, or whenever the filename edit box is empty)
- select another directory : use the quick access on the left (one-click), or
one-click/double-click on any folder name (depending on the mouse behavior
setup), or click on one of the navigation/arrow buttons, or type the directory
name in the url bar and press enter.
-> The filename gets cleared, requiring retyping it any time you want to "save
as..." !!!

This is really annoying when one has to reuse a lot of models of
documents and working papers, and manage versions through
renaming+dates. In order to avoid typing the filename all the time, the
trick is to copy it in klipper and paste when necessary.

Notice that the OpenOffice file dialog works OK (choose in menu
Tools/Options/General). The KDE "save file as" dialog works correctly in kate,
konqueror, gwenview, kview, kdevelop etc whereas the KDE "open file" dialog also
forgets filename on changing directory.
Any gnome (?) file dialog from various versions works fine under kde : firefox,
evolution, acroread, lyx 1.5, gimp.

Since all the packages were downloaded :
dpkg -- configure -a
partially solved the problem (after few back and forth using adept

adept still reports a possible dist-upgrade.
