[Bug 781402] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 / Unity freezing when screen is 'woken up'
This problem (Lenovo Thinkpad S1, Intel graphics) is still present for me, and the VBlank fix in #12 did /not/ work. When I resume, the machine often (but not always) does not automatically "show" the screen (e.g. it is a lit, but black screen) on the normal wake actions (open lid, press lenovo's "wake" button), but on a mouse event, does show the screen from the point at which the laptop was suspended, and while the keyboard works (I can ctrl-alt-f1 into a terminal) and the mouse moves, the screen does not respond to keyboard/mouse events. Pkilling myself and restarting x/unity "works" but never knowing if my workspace windows will return after suspend is a huge issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/781402 Title: Ubuntu 11.04 / Unity freezing when screen is 'woken up' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/781402/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 915616] Re: hide all windows breaks ALT + TAB switcher
I have the exact same problem. It occurs in two ways: 1) Using Ctrl-Alt-D to show desktop 2) Using Unity's Switcher to select the desktop, which also shows the desktop. Once this happens, no other switcher (ring switcher, super-w) can show the existing windows. They lose any indicators in the launcher, and opening them from the launcher opens a new instance. To "restore" them, you can open a new window of anything, then alt-tab from it back to the "show desktop" option. This "stops" the show desktop process and restores the hidden windows. This presents an EXTREMELY annoying and un-intuitive process for users. As a decently veteran Linux, Ubuntu and Compiz user, the first time this happened to me, I thought all my apps had silently been crashed and logged out, losing my work. WORK AROUND: This is because the Fade to Desktop or Show Desktop Compiz plugin is active and running on top of Unity's show desktop function, so "activating" show desktop turns on the Compiz version, without a way to un-show the desktop, except by the steps above to re-activate the process. Disabling the Compiz Fade-To-Desktop and Show-Desktop plugins restores a much more sane process. These should be set to conflict with Unity's show-desktop feature, which should be easy to unset for users who prefer the existing Compiz versions (like myself, I love the hide-to-corners effect) ** Changed in: unity Status: Expired => Incomplete ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/915616 Title: hide all windows breaks ALT + TAB switcher To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/915616/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
