[Bug 626940] [NEW] file-roller gives meaningless Permission denied error messages
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: file-roller For the last half hour or so I've been trying to make a backup of my home folder. I have an NTFS partition mounted at /media/4E05F70A08543D28. I go to my Home Folder and press Ctrl+H to view all the folders, press Ctrl+A to select all the files, right click and click Compress. I tell file-roller to save in that NTFS partition. I click on Create and it immediately says Permission denied without telling me what it does not have access to. I have full Read/Write rights on my home folder and on the NTFS partition. So the Permission denied message is meaningless without telling me why permission has been denied. It shouldn't be this hard to make a backup. [Bug 620426] [NEW] Odd graphics while using S-Video output
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image I have an ATI Radeon x1600 Pro AGP video card in a HP Workstation xw4100 connected to an LCD TV with a S-Video cable. During POST the graphical output is normal but while using the terminal the graphics are rather odd. There are alternating green and purple lines running the width of the screen about 2 pixels apart and 2 pixels high. While using the text installer there was no graphical issues. [Bug 496796] Re: fsck on boot triggers failsafe x 100% of the time
For some reason libdbusmenu-glib0 was being held back. When I tried to force its upgrade through synaptic it wanted to remove ubuntu-desktop and some indicator packages. In a terminal I ran sudo apt-get -f install libdbusmenus-glib0, it upgraded and upgraded the packages it wanted to remove (say what?). 20 Packages were made available for upgrading, two of which were gdm and xorg.
