[Bug 93381] Re: [Gutsy] Name column width in nautilus

2008-02-27 Thread jurgis.pralgauskis
I think there several things mixed up
my problem is, that date modified column usually gets hidden (though I
usually want to order by it)
most of width-space is taken by long filenames and file type names.
maybe there could be option when window is not wide enouth,
to calculate filenames-column width not to maximum name length, but to average
;)
or just to remember the width
or let me set max widths for each column (for case, when window is too narrow)

[Bug 163421] feature request: usb flash disk status should be well seen (panel icon or so)

2007-11-17 Thread jurgis.pralgauskis
Public bug reported:

usb flash memory-stics have become very popular,

when in a rush smb wants to write data into flash and runaway, they might
forget, that they haven't disconnected the flash... - so they'll unfortunately
get corrupted data... and get annoyed/frustrated (especially if they used win
before, as win tend to synchronize at once - and no problem as far as I know..)
(especcialy, if the desktop is covered wiht some programs, it is easy to forget)

two possible sollution proposals:
1) make usb-flash-disc status icon in the panel (simillary as there is
BlueTooth or LAN icons in gnome-panel)
and it should be easy to rightclick and choose to disconnect/synchronize

2) try to synchronize copied data at once (especially larger files)
I know there's issue with flash-FAT or so, as frequent writes wear it out..,
but in many cases users just copy some files and that's all
may be some logging and heuristics could be used to determine:
if the data is written once
or wether the user works with data from usb

2007-11-04 Thread jurgis.pralgauskis
similar problems for me (only with gutsy)

sudo ifup eth0 doesn't help, as it doesn't see the interface

but sometimes it vanishes, sometimes - not, I couldn't find the rule
(I tried to hibernate with unpulgged cabel, and then wake up with plugged and
vice versa - but sometimes it works, sometimes - no :?)
but if I unhibernate after a longer time (few hours) - it is always gone (as
much as I remember)

If I was logged in with other console (Ctrl+Alt+F1), and hibernated from
the main Gnome - the things always seemed to work OK (though I didn't
try to wait long)

I noticed, that wireless interface wanishes also if it is used - so probably
the one, which i
as I understood vanishes/disapears the one interface, which is/was currently
used - very strange

[Bug 77000] Kino 1.0 for Ubuntu Edgy/Feisty are available at ftp.akl.lt/Linux/Baltix/Baltix-Ubuntu-packages/edgy/kino/

Kino 1.0 packages and sources for Ubuntu Edgy/Feisty are available at
ftp.akl.lt/Linux/Baltix/Baltix-Ubuntu-packages/edgy/kino/

These packages are based on Kino 1.0 packages from Debian experimental but
contains several important improvements:
  * Translated menu launcher (Kino.desktop) to Lithuanian
  * fixed help location bug - in debian/rules install section added
ln -s ../../kino/help $(CURDIR)/debian/kino/usr/share/doc/kino/help
  * used upstream udev rules (kino.rules) file instead of outdated debian's one
  * Changed --without-dv1394 to --with-dv1394 in debian/rules - Ubuntu still
prefers dv1394 module for DV capturing (user has no access to /dev/raw1394)

Sikon said on 2007-06-19:
I concur, you should probably sync 1.0.0 from Debian experimental.
