[Bug 921397] Re: Speaker audio channel goes mute after plugging in the headphone
I, too am affected by this issue, or at least an issue which quacks like this one. I am using a samsung 7 series (700Z5A-S01), with a 3.2 kernel. For me, slightly different alsamixer values are reported (see attached file). Most notably, it reports my headphone as a sliderless control. For me too, headphone volume is controlled with the 'speaker' slider. My workaround required a little bit more magic: in analog-output-headphones [Element Speaker] ; link to muting switch = mute ; set volume to zero, so only the master slider controls playback volume. This gives better linearity. volume = zero ** Attachment added: amixer.values https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/921397/+attachment/2958786/+files/amixer.values -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/921397 Title: Speaker audio channel goes mute after plugging in the headphone To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/921397/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

My proposed change above is wrong. Line 442-443 are entirely unneeded. Simply undoing patch 71 fixes the bug; it does more harm than good. It doesn't do any good anyway. [Bug 671541] Re: postinst installs script with incorrect LSB stop values
As promised, a patch. I think it is reasonable to assume that speech- dispatcher doesn't need to run during initial boot and after shutdown, so 0 1 6 is a reasonable value for LSB stop. ** Patch added: speech-dispatcher.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/speech-dispatcher/+bug/671541/+attachment/1724256/+files/speech-dispatcher.patch -- postinst installs script with incorrect LSB stop values https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671541 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 669792] [NEW] Current version is not compatible with sync servers
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xul-ext-sync The official Firefox Sync package is at 1.5. I get an error while syncing in Firefox when I use 1.4.3, with the message You need to update Firefox Sync to continue syncing your data. Oddly, setting up sync works just fine. Repackaging would probably solve the issue. ** Affects: weave (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Current version is not compatible with sync servers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669792 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 640766] [NEW] Graphic corruption when selecting packets
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wireshark When I select a packet in wireshark's main screen, the screen is rerendered incorrectly. It seems asif the redraw code tries to clear the background of the text with some nonsense. Sometimes it is noise, sometimes it is text, sometimes (as in the attached screenshot). When I force a full redraw (for example by resizing) the corruption is gone. I'm pretty confident this is not a bug in wireshark itself, but in some dependent library; I recall seeing the same corruption in other applications, but not to the extent I've seen it with Wireshark. [Bug 59559] USB dies on recent kernel (nvidia-hardware)
Public bug reported: Recently I did an upgrade (at most a week ago, i don't remember, sorry), and postponed the reboot until yesterday. After that I have problems with my mouse. After login to ubuntu it is working fine, but after some time mouse dies. After unplugging my mouse and replugging it, the laser doesn't even shine. It looks like my entire usb subsystem is dysfunctional. Also I can't switch between terminals by pressing [alt]+[ctrl]+[Fx]. It looks like I'm having the same symptoms as described with the following bug: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15/+bug/41272 Except: I don't have any of the hardware mentioned in that bug. My setup is: Amd-k8 NVidia 6150 chipset. (onboard ethernet disabled in bios) Ubuntu-edgy x86 NVidia restricted drivers The problem goes away when I downgrade to Linux ubuntu 2.6.15-26-k7, for which I also needed to change to the open-source nvidia driver (nv). I'll check later today if the latest kernel works with this driver, as the mentioned bug seems to be related to graphics hardware and closed- source drivers... ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- USB dies on recent kernel (nvidia-hardware) https://launchpad.net/bugs/59559 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 58624] Re: Amarok doesn't play mp3 with correct packages installed
Nope, it doesn't solve the problem. I haven't tried a full reboot though. My wife is currently working on some files through an smb share, so rebooting would be rude... ;-) Also, i had a working config before I upgraded to edgy, libxine- extracodex has been on my system since the first install (dapper, one month ago). This suggests this bug is specific for edgy. I've also nuked amarok's user config (~/.kde/share/apps/amarok and ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc), to no avail. The introductional ogg provided with the package works fine. -- Amarok doesn't play mp3 with correct packages installed https://launchpad.net/bugs/58624 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 58624] Amarok doesn't play mp3 with correct packages installed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: amarok When i try to play an MP3 with Amarok, it refuses to play it, and offers me to install mp3-support, eventhough i have mp3-support installed already. No matter what i click, install-mp3 is started. install-mp3 correctly detects I have the required packages installed, and does nothing. Amarok correctly reads the id3-tags (both v1 and v2) on my collection. It correctly displays the duration of my files. On the default streams, it doesn't complain about the mp3-format, but it doesn't produce audio- output either. System information: I'm running Ubuntu egdy x86 on an amd x64, updated 5 minutes ago. Apart from the dependencies for kate and amarok, I have no KDE packages installed.
