I can't get rhythmbox to import any of my music files thanks to this
bug. Am I right to conclude that this won't be fixed in gutsy?

from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates:

Doesn't the fact that the program can no longer import any of my music files
count as a "severe regressions".
What use is rhythmbox if it can't import any music?

[Bug 12452] Re: Human theme's coloring of the window list needs greater contrast

2006-10-24 Thread lexual
This appears to be even worse with edgy.

See the attached screenshot.

It really isn't easily obvious which tab is highlighted in firefox at a
glance. This really needs to be more visually distinct. This is more of
issue now that firefox has per tab close buttons, because you have to
find the "right" close button to hit.

I see this as a very important usability bug.

[Bug 67893] Option to create a separate /home partition when erasing entire disk during install.

2006-10-23 Thread lexual
Public bug reported:

Hi,
I just installed edgy rc. At the partitioning step I chose to erase entire disk
(200gb).

This meant that ubuntu was installed on one large partition, with a swap
partition. The screenshot will show this.

I think that we should follow what debian-installer is currently doing,
and ask the user if they would like to create a separate /home
partition. (Actually I think this should be the default behaviour, but
from memory the developers disagree).

This is how debian would partition the same drive choosing /home as a
separate partition.

/ - 7Gb
swap - 3Gb
/home - rest of drive

Having a separate /home partition is a great way of separating user data
from system data. It also allows installing other linux distros or other
ubuntu versions, by formatting / but not /home.

Keep up the good work,

Lex.

[Bug 67891] Chhosing to erase entire disk during install should still mount partitions from second hard drive.

2006-10-23 Thread lexual
Public bug reported:

This is from edgy release candidate.
I have 2 hard drives in my system: 200gb & 80gb.
The 80gb disk has an ext3 partition containing various data.

At the relevant installation step I chose the option to erase the entire
disk for th 200gb drive.

The installation continued without mounting any of the drives from the
other hard drive.

It would make a lot more sense to mount the other partitions under /mnt
or /media.

[Bug 64518] Re: Taskbar flashes unessacaerily

I'm a little confused. I reported

Is the decision that the current default preferences setting is correct?
My personal opinion is that the default config needs to be changed.

[Bug 50859] Will not unmount Motorola RAZR V3X mobile phone's miniSD flash card.

2006-06-24 Thread lexual
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal-device-manager

My mobile phone is a Motorola RAZR V3X.
It has a mini-SD memory card.
The phone is on the settingof "storage device" so the memory should just come
up as a generic storage drive.

Using the phone like this works fine with XP.

When I plug the phone in with Ubuntu dapper, it is mounted fine and I
can copy files to the drive.

The problem occurs when I try to unmount it.
The drive is never unmounted.
The popup saying "removing device"
"writing data to storage device usbdisk"
"please do not remove the device while this operation is in progress".

This popup never finished.
If I look at top I can see the processes still running are:
usb-storage
umount
hald-addon-storage

I am very willing to attach any more relevant needed to help with this
bug,

Thanks,

Lex.
