[Bug 192888] Re: firefox crashes on flash contents

2008-04-23 Thread linovski
Flash player always can play.
I can play youtube videos and at the same time listen last.fm radio (at firefox
with flash support).
What I can't do, is playing video files from my disk, at the same time as flash
play.
Normally I just need to close the flash tab. In some times I need completely
close firefox, and just now play the video files with mplayer.

[Bug 218984] [NEW] Babytrans don't start. No error reported or useful tip given

2008-04-17 Thread linovski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: babytrans

:: After

1
$ apt-get install babytrans
Download the dictionaries at
ftp://ftp.ac-grenoble.fr/ge/languages/babylon_dict/

2
Update babytrans /usr/share/babytrans/dictionary file like this:
$ cat /usr/share/babytrans/dictionary
# Aliases for babytrans
#
# Syntax:
path = /usr/lib/babytrans
# language_abbreviation = language_name , language_file

# uncomment this line to use a personal directory
# (see documentation)
# path = ~/.babytrans

de = Deutsch , EngtoGer.dic
en = English , EngtoEng.dic
es = Español , EngtoSpa.dic
fr = Français , EngtoFre.dic
it = Italiano , EngtoIta.dic
nl = Nederlands , EngtoDut.dic
po = Português , EngtoPor.dic

3
$
Copy the dictionaries:
$ ls /usr/lib/babytrans/
english2.dic  english.dic  EngtoDut.dic  EngtoEng.dic  EngtoFre.dic
EngtoGer.dic  EngtoHeb.dic  EngtoIta.dic  EngtoJpn.dic  EngtoPor.dic
EngtoSpa.dic

:: The result is:

$babytrans
$ # nothing happen, and this is the bug.

:: Workaround:

4 Remove babytrans config file

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ rm .ba
.babytrans/.bash_history  .bash_logout   .bashrc
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ rm .babytrans/config

5 And execute babytrans
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ babytrans
Searching translation of: 'ls'

At this moment babytrans is working properly.
I need to select my wished language, and babytrans works correctly.
After I quit babytrans, it writes the config file ' .babytrans/config'
In order, to start babytrans again, I need back to step 4.

[Bug 209359] Re: Once I leave a web page return, I receive the following message: The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

2008-04-16 Thread linovski
Well, this is a confirmed bug!!

Since some days, I can't load pages such as examples:
http://translator.live.com
http://skydrive.live.com
www.priberam.pt/DLPO

And some others.

I believe this bug is incorrectly assigned to firefox-3.0.
Not, even wget, can get this pages.

See the output at the attachment.
At this moment, I have a full speed line available just for me. Don't forget to
watch the ' 378.71B/s' to see how strange this is.

2008-04-16 Thread linovski
At LAN, other machines can load successful this pages.

At my machine, with wget I get what you can see in the last log.
At firefox the message is:
Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try
again.

Firefox was doing is job correctly.
As we see at wget log, the connections was really reset.

Bhavani, thanks for the alert at 'answers' section.
(Well, at this moment my laptop doesn't work.
The same, kernel panic (*1) issue arrives. So, I just see the email running)

Colin, I run memtes96++, for at least 12 hours. None errors. 27 tests
successful.
However, I believe that some hardware component isn't working properly.
At the begin, I boot into the recovery mode, and I remove the 'hal' and 'dbus'
daemon from /etc/init.d/ to some other place.
They aren't load at boot time and the system boot up successful, and without
the issue reported by Gnome that he couldn't initialize 'HAL' (and of course
'Network Manager', at least the applet doesn't work) I could surf the web and
running my working applications. However, at some time, (maybe one hour later)
the system freeze completely and I need power down the laptop with the 'power
button'.
The strange thing: Now, I couldn't reinstall the system. The LiveCD doesn't
boot up. Crash, with kernel panic (*1).
In past, I install the system with that LiveCD. Hardware problem? By this
reason, I initially report this as a question.

Ok. I will attach the log that you asked. To get them, I boot the system
in recovery mode.

[Bug 191721] Re: BUG in kernel 2.6.24-7? BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000001 Based on question #24954

2008-03-07 Thread linovski
Some missing parts at the text:
(*1) = sometimes, the error is something like CPU#0 didn't answer for 11
seconds

Correction at text:
They aren't load at boot time and the system boot up successful, and Gnome just
report that he couldn't initialize 'HAL'. 'Network Manager', at least the
applet doesn't work, and of course some other parts depending on 'HAL'.
 I could surf the web and running my working applications, however at any time
the system freeze.

Just for note:
In the file 'dmes.log' at the archive file 'someSystemLogs.tar.gz' submit
above, I add the fowlling comment:
(...)
[   12.148234] ata2: PATA max UDMA/100 cmd 0x170 ctl 0x376 bmdma 0x18c8 irq 15
## Comment added by linovski: at boot time, the system wait here, for at least
10 seconds. Strange, I think...
[   12.474442] ata1.00: ATA-6: ST9100822A, 3.01, max UDMA/100

Is this relevant, in some way?

[Bug 191721] Re: BUG in kernel 2.6.24-7? BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000001 Based on question #24954

2008-03-07 Thread linovski
Thanks for the help.
Well, let's talk with the machine.
All the steps (I'm writing this, on a second machine, at the same time I
perform the refered steps):

=Boot into recovery mode.
=manually running dbus and hal ... [OK]
Hmm, the system still running. Great!
=apt-get dist-upgrade
(hmm, getting 2.6.24-8)
=reboot
=boot (now, in 2.6.24-8)
=Gnome can't initialize 'HAL'
=mv /root/dbus /root/hal /etc/init.d/
=remove from /boot/grub/menu.lst, at the kernel line, options 'quiet' and
'splash'
=reboot
=boot
Well, the system boot, but Gnome can't initialize 'HAL' again. Strange.
=reconfiguring hal, gdm and reboot
=boot
Everything ok!
Strange. What had change? Some fix?
Well, I will now try running LiveCD, the one that had work one time, and now
doesn't work any more.
If it still fails, I don't know why it had work one time in past, and doesn't
work any more.(1)
Anyway, at this moment my system works, with the last upgrade.
If it boot up correctly, this will be a mystery. Just one conclusion arrives:
Some of my hardware components are in a unstable state (2)
Well, let's boot LiveCD:
=Boot LiveCD
(WOW, it boot correctly)
Well. situation (2) had been verified. I don't change anything. I just let the
laptop rest some days. lol

For the machine history, it remains the log file:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11961233/dmesg.13.02.08_21.45h.log
Do you have any idea, what had cause that crash? Has I had say, on 13/02 i run
memtest86+ for at least 12h and none error was reported.

At the current moment, the only thing that I find strange is, at boot time, the
fowling
stopping times. (see comments)

The current dmesg file, follow in attachment.

I see now your last answer.
Yes, I believe it is BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 11s.
At that time, I don't save the dmesg file. Now, I don't get none of that errors.

With the installed system, Hardy it happen always.
With LiveCD, ubuntu 7.10, that now is booting correctly, ATA configuration is
doing instantly.

Well, not any more, crash back again.
ATA configuration runs well, and as I said is doing instantly, but when loading
hal the system crash.

Let's try Hardy...
Well, my system is again crash every time!

I had try some times, loading the system.

If you see this error one should also see a stack dump too - if so, can you
send a dmesg log of this.

Well, now I had get one.

I suggest first try booting with the acpi=off kernel parameter and
seeing if this helps.

with the acpi=off:
Is booting correctly.
Confirmed, again and again (5 times).
ATA configuration is doing instantly.
dmesg file, follow in attachment.

Without acpi=off is crashing like reported above.
ATA configuration is slowly.

With, LiveCD 7.10
acpi=off works.
(But in past, it had worked, even without this option! :s)

[Bug 191721] Re: BUG in kernel 2.6.24-7? BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000001 Based on question #24954

2008-03-07 Thread linovski
That BIOS version was installed, when the laptop went into warranty.
Isn't yet available at the download site,
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_1690_ddr2.html .

For now, I will work with acpi=off :(

Do you have any idea what could change, at the BIOS, at the hardware or
anywhere that
could determine this buggy state?

Thanks for your help and for now, good weekend!
