This bug is present in Kubuntu Wily (Beta 1) too. Yesterday I tried to install it on a 4 Gb root and 4Gb /home and Ubiquity crashed. In Wily beta 1 I've found that the desktop icon is there but due to the desktop settings it is not being shown. It's in Wily Alpha2 still present. Perhaps the fact that I am running a KVM vm has something to do with this bug? I just did an install of Vivid Beta1. The same problem exists. However this time there is a "Prepare for shipping" in the menu. Clicking this results in the asking of the password and further nothing. Opening the Konsole and running "oem-config-prepare" gives as output that it will run on the next boot. Tested kscreen/libkscreen1 1.0.2.1-0ubuntu0.1 from saucy-proposed. I only have one monitor here (an old 1280x1024 vga one), unplugged that one. Updated the two packages through ssh. Plugged in the monitor, 1280x1024 was the detected/set resolution, in other words correct. [Bug 1119440] [NEW] Ubiquity crashes after manual partitioning
Public bug reported: Testing the Precise 12.04.2 amd64 image, this trough a live-usb made with Unetbootin. Selecting "Try Kubuntu" and then starting Ubiquity causes Ubiquity to crash after the manual partition step. When selecting "Install Kubuntu" Ubiquity works fine and does not crash. Public bug reported: When booting the Kubuntu 13.04 daily-image (2013-02-07) over the network (pxe/netboot), lightdm fails to start automatically. There is no mention of lightdm in the syslog, and if you start lighdm manually it starts without errors.
