Public bug reported: I previously installed this proprietary driver from ATI amd-driver-installer-8.982-x86.x86_64.run after yesterdays update I recognized that no 3D functionality was given. So I tried to activate the default drivers provided in systemsettings hardware. This resulted in this failure. Currently I am in the position that I need to uninstall ATI drivers and reinstalling them again. The 32 Bit system was installed on the same test system (different harddrive) to see if things are working there. Both systems are fully patched and on actual state. Sorry cannot confirm it. I double checked behaviour on the system I recognized it first. Inbetween I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 (Hardy still running KDE 3.5.x). Still cannot start kate in root context with Open with.. Other. Sorry! I recently tried things on a different absolutely newly installed 8.04 Kubuntu. Same again. Message is (still same): Fehler - Konqueror (Exclamation mark !) KDEInit kann kate nicht starten.
