[Bug 1072758] [NEW] package fglrx-updates not installed failed to install/upgrade: Unterprozess neues pre-installation-Skript gab den Fehlerwert 1 zurück

2012-10-29 Thread lptr
Public bug reported:

I previously installed this proprietary driver from ATI
amd-driver-installer-8.982-x86.x86_64.run

after yesterdays update I recognized that no 3D functionality was given.
So I tried to activate the default drivers provided in systemsettings
hardware. This resulted in this failure.

Currently I am in the position that I need to uninstall ATI drivers and
reinstalling them again.

Ok I am somewhat further.

# apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-server

was missing. The only thing is that this includes 32-Bit drivers not the
64-Bit version.

[Bug 328563] [NEW] fcpci module not found - failed to load driver

2009-02-12 Thread lptr
Public bug reported:

Symptom: The regarding hardware is Fritzcard PCI v2.1 an ISDN PCI card
device and does not work under 64 Bit server Ubuntu but **does** with 32
Bit desktop ubuntu 8.04.02. The 32 Bit system was installed on the same
test system (different harddrive) to see if things are working there.
Both systems are fully patched and on actual state.

Some research directed me to another bug report that tainted 32 Bit version,
some time ago. Obviously the regarding parts in kernel for fcpci were not
activated at that time and maybe deactived in 64 Bit kernel for some reasons I
don't know.

[Bug 264697] Re: Module fcpci not found.

2009-02-05 Thread lptr
Having the same here while using 'capiinit' but with 64 Bit 8.04 Server
LTS!

# cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.24-23-server (bui...@vernadsky) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Ubuntu

This is a testmachine where I installed Fritz! under 32 bit 8.04.02, before.
There all is working perfectly. I was somewhat irretated when I searched after
first boot with dmesg for fcpci. I got with 64 Bit version this lines:

compared to this output from 32 Bit:

I knew something is wrong.

Because I am no specialist: Pls, can anyone tell me if the description
for Intrepid is also valid for 8.04?

Thanks.

[Bug 72486] Re: KDEInit could not launch 'kate' error using konqueror with sudo

2008-07-09 Thread lptr
Sorry cannot confirm it. I double checked behaviour on the system I
recognized it first. Inbetween I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 (Hardy still
running KDE 3.5.x).

Still cannot start kate in root context with Open with.. Other.
Sorry!

I recently tried things on a different absolutely newly installed 8.04 Kubuntu.
Same again.
Message is (still same):
Fehler - Konqueror (Exclamation mark !) KDEInit kann kate nicht starten.
((This is 32 Bit version - German ))

If I can help you to find out what goes wrong here, let me know.

2007-04-05 Thread lptr
Public bug reported:

Generate program link on desktop.
Specify command
  kdesu kfmclient openProfile filemanagement
Name it f.i. konqueror (su)
Start Konqueror (password will be required)
With Konqueror change into /etc
Select for example hosts
Right click with mouse opens context menu
Select in context menu open with - kate

This results in Konqueror - Error: KDEinit cannot start kate

Workaround and boring:
Generate an additional program link on desktop
specify as cmd: kdesu kate
Start it (password will be required, too)

After Kate runs, user may drag and drop files from kdesu konqueror to
kdesu kate.

Solution1: Remove entry open with in konqueror while running in context su
Solution2: Fix the problem.
