[Bug 1828713] [NEW] [Inspiron 3650, Nvidia GPU 51 HDMI/DP, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all

2019-05-12 Thread ludo33200
Public bug reported:

This is an ubuntu 19.04 fresh [re]install
Previous installation was an upgrade 18.04 LTS (at least) -> 18.10 -> 19.04 and
the sound worked

Sound is expected on HDMI screen Dell S2415H
Sound level on screen is set to max

In system settings>sound , every sound entry is set to mute (speaker slashed)
On output settings we can see (fresh install, english translation below)

Sortie
Périphériques de sortie : Sortie fictive- (<-- option sélectionnée / seule
option disponible)

[translation]
Output
Output peripheral : Fictive output - (<-- selected option / only available
option)

Button "Test" will give no sound (seems normal because of Sortie fictive
?)

The patch was in 1.0.14, but F24 never got that. If you don't see
1.0.15 in updates already, you can download it from koji[1].

[Bug 1675777] Re: X.org and wayland unstable, nouveau spamming kernel log

2017-04-24 Thread ludo33200
Seems same kind of bug for me
Many lines with nouveau on kern.log
Like following line :
Apr 23 07:36:00 Inspiron-3650 kernel: [33231.550130] nouveau :01:00.0: gr:
TRAP ch 2 [007fb31000 Xorg[1456]]

Seems this bug is back --> refer to following bug
Bug #1474538 reported by Olivier Diotte on 2015-07-14
nouveau driver fills syslog when running xscreensaver (molecule)

with kern.log filling this bug also crashes system : keyboard no longer
responding, or mouse+keyboard dead... Only workarround is to turn off
computer.

Seems computer crashed exaclty here on the trace

[Bug 1638383] [NEW] Cannot upload photo with Honor 8 + internal SDCard

2016-11-01 Thread ludo33200
Public bug reported:

This bug was also filled on Honor Community
https://community.hihonor.com/thread/1495?et=watches.email.outcome

Problem
---
Connecting Honor 8 mobile phone as USB + select MTP transfer mode on the phone
The phone includes an additional SD Card where photos are stored
As connected in MTP mode, unable to upload photos on the PC : neither intrenal
memory or sd card appear as mounted devices. However i still can get photos
manuelly with a file browser. This makes impossible to upload photos with a
photo manager like shotwell.

Full details
-
Ubuntu 16.10, fresh install (since 15 days)
Connect Honor 8 via USB
Has a 64 Gb SD Card (SanDisk) inside

On Honor 8 go to "Connected via USB" and select "Files" to connect the Honor 8
in MTP mode
The Honor 8 help says for Linux :
- install tools : sudo apt-get install mtp-tools mtpfs
- create subdir : sudo mkdir /media/mtp
- change acl : sudo chmod 755 /media/mtp
- mount : sudo mtpfs -o allow_other /media/mtp
- unmount : sudo umount /media/mtp

Before mtp-tools + mtpfs install

Ubuntu Files Manager shows TWO mounted points
Android (icon : mobile phone) : no direct file provided, includes 2 subdirs :
1) SanDisk SD Card 2) Internal memory storage
Subdir DCIM/Camera gives access to photos taken with Honor 8 Camera and stored
on SD Card.
However i didint found an easy way to upload this photos in shotwell

My CDROM : corresponds to /media/myuser/My CDROM

Shotwell
Considers as if no camera was connected to PC
neither SD Card nor internal memory appear as mounted USB devices

Lets apply Honor advices (install mtp-tools mtpfs)

[Bug 990960] Re: openBVE crashes, another dependency issue?

2015-09-19 Thread ludo33200
I think there a t least 3 problems reported here

Concerning the following problem
>System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an
>object
> at System.Windows.Forms.ListView+ItemControl.ItemsMouseDown (System.Object
> sender, >System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs me) [0x0] in unknown>:0

Other mentionned bugs should have been reported elsewhere for other bugs
(duplicates ?)

Ubuntu 15.04
+ OpenBVE 1.4.0.9-1 as installed
I reproduce this bug each time i try to select a route with the mouse (not with
the keyboard)

After having tried to localize the problem with monoDevelop, i think
i've found something that could cause the problem

When i read the source code, i see
OpenBve/OldCode/formMain.Start.cs,

private void ShowRoute(bool UserSelectedEncoding) {
if (Result.RouteFile != null) {
this.Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor;
Application.DoEvents();
]...[

C# Microsoft documentation suggests this code (Application.DoEvent call ) could
cause problems
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/system.windows.forms.application.doevents%28v=vs.110%29.aspx
You will find many posts on many forums about this topic

>Calling this method causes the current thread to be suspended while all
waiting window messages are processed. If a message >causes an event to
be triggered, then other areas of your application code may execute.
This can cause your application to >exhibit unexpected behaviors that
are difficult to debug.

What i see is that removing this instruction (Application.DoEvent call) seems
to remove the problem and allowing to show the route.
As i'm not a premium developper i'm not directly going to change the code for
OpenBve.
If anyone could validate or not the code ??

-- Code suggested
private void ShowRoute(bool UserSelectedEncoding) {
if (Result.RouteFile != null) {
this.Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor;
if (!Program.CurrentlyRunningOnMono) { //
disabled code on Mono because it makes crash
Application.DoEvents();
}
]...[

[Bug 1430625] Re: ACPI PCC probe failed.

2015-08-02 Thread ludo33200
Bug also affects me
This bug comes with a SATA hard drive or wire problem that may be connected ...
or not
My pc sometimes refuses to start saying it doesn't find any hard drive.
As i disconnect and then reconnect the SATA wires, pc starts (i see grub)
but now i cant login with Ubuntu because of this error ACPI PCC probe failed
[1.119018] ACPI probe failed \n starting version 219 \n Welcome to emergency
mode ... Give root password for maintenance:

Even if the APCI PCC probe failed message may not be main problem, any

Joseph

Thank you for trying to resolve this problem
The wiki page says may times
*While booted into the newest upstream mainline kernel only*,
Could you explain me how i can follow this procedure while booting to
the newest kernel fails : no gui and only limited shell available.
Thank you for your help

Le 21/04/2014 18:53, Joseph Salisbury a écrit :
This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest
upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug
report[0]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the issue,
and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug.

Please follow the instructions on the wiki page[0]. The first step is to
email the appropriate mailing list. If no response is received, then a
bug may be opened on bugzilla.kernel.org.

Once this bug is reported upstream, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-
 reported-upstream'.

[Bug 1093338] [NEW] Mouse click stops responding

2012-12-23 Thread ludo33200
Public bug reported:

While using normally certain apps, mouse click stops responding while moving
mouse still works and keaboard works too.
I've seen many similar bugs but with bo fix and not with the same applications
(and sometimes with keaboard not responding -not my case-)
__ Hardware __
DELL Inspiron One 2310
__Software__
Ubuntu up to date with all fixes, did not happend to me before i switch from
Ubuntu 12.04+VirtualBox on Windows/7 to current install : now installed 12.10
with wubi on Wndows/7, cold started from a dual boot (grub)

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 12.10
Release:12.10

$ apt-cache policy linux

Cannot stay on VirtualBox because its to slow with unity and 3d is badly
supported.
__When this happens__
For me this happens frequently when using LibreOffice (current Version 3.6.2.2
(Build ID: 360m1(Build:2)))
Some times with firefox 17.0.1
__ Found workaround __
As found in one of the similar bugs but does not allways work
- Alt+Tab select a window
- Select Move option (with keaboard ..)
- Move Windows, validate with Enter
Other workaround that allways works
- Close my session

Il will do an apport (under) when bug will be created

[Bug 1009188] Re: shotwell hangs when browsing photos or simply while using the mouse for browsing

2012-06-07 Thread ludo33200
There is no subdirectory under /home/ludovic/Images/2011/09/04
See ls -al joined
The message tasks about attribute change and ... every 5 min there is a cron
process doing

cd /home/gr_cheron ( symbolic link /home/ludovic/Images --
/home/gr_cheron/Images)
chown -R ludovic:cheron Images
chmod -R 770 Images

I suspect this is the cause

Results

disabling crontab with this chown+chmod commands seems to make the problem
disapear
(browsed many pictures and waited about an hour wthout any problem)

now whenever i open a terminal window and lauch manually the chown+chmod
script makes shotwell immediatly hang.

The main cause seems to be : changing attributes on pictures while
shotwell is running

[Bug 1009188] [NEW] shotwell hangs when browsing photos or simply while using the mouse for browsing

2012-06-05 Thread ludo33200
Public bug reported:

Frequently appears
Shotwell hangs while i'm browsing photos
Shotwell also eats CPU - Until now i've retreived about 30 photos and it does
nothing else than eating at 30 to 65% cpu usage only for shotwell !

Forcing shotwell to close and re-open may cause shotwell to work
properly for a few minutes... until it hangs one more.

Shotwell hosting all my photos
3 years online on my pc
i dont know exactly how many (dont know how to count)

Feel free to ask more precisions

This is not a new bug but i've never reported it before
It lasts at least since one year or more

~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Release:12.04

$ apt-cache policy shotwell

What expected o happen
Able to browe photos : this should be a minimal feature for shotwell

What happened instead
Shotwell freezed (window is greyed and nothing happens whenever you click
anywhere on it)
= only thing you can do is to kill this process

Hope we will find a solution

[Bug 994778] Re: after upgrading to 12.04, unable to use any application

2012-05-05 Thread ludo33200
My system hasn't booted in read-only file system because after having lauched
thunderbird it downloade properly my mails..
However i could not read them (open thunderbird properly)

this problem occurs every boot bu what i've noticed this morning is that it
occures when i chose Ubuntu 2D session.
This morning Ubuntu (e.g. 3D ?) session seems to work properly without any
changer (except installed colord yesterday and shutdown)

Openning a terminal with ctrl-al-T has not been tested. But openning any
application, alos terminal is possible via Unity BUT the application is
not really avaible : hidden behind the inactive unity window (see
previous screen capture)

This norming graphical update (since Ubuntu 3D works) gave no error

testing apt-get will be done later back to Ubuntu 2D

[Bug 994778] [NEW] after upgrading to 12.04, unable to use any application

2012-05-04 Thread ludo33200
Public bug reported:

Just upgraded from 11.11 to 10.04
I'm using VirtualBox 4.1.14.r77440 + guest additions 4.1.14 on Windows/7
[x] 3D acceleration checked (not 2D)

Since i've upgraded, i no longer can launch nor use any application in Ubunto
Unity bar appears first at the left but when ever i choose to open an
applicationn (say Mozilla for example), nothing *seems* to happend
In fact appears the window when i shoud type an tool name to launch (see
capture1.png)
I'm not able to type any text there ...
If i want to type an aplication text, i have to push the Window Key on my
keyboard ...
and ... may be the app opens but cannot be used
As you can see on capture1.png, firefox is openned but cannot be used.

Other problems arround:
- network connects and disconnects every 5 seconds (see capture1.png)
- install failed with colord (workaround found and applied in bug Bug #989921)
but this doesn't seem to correct this bug

At this time, upgraded ubuntu CANNOT be used in any way (except recoveny
console).

This makes me very hard to get more logs but ask me and i will try to
get copy of theses files.

2011-05-19 Thread ludo33200
Upgrading from VirtualBox ( Win7) 4.0.8 + Guest Additions 4.0.8 guest Ubuntu

To Ubuntu 11.04

The upgrade downloads, install reboot and then :
1) the vm graphication definition window no longer will be automatically be
changed when the screen is resized
2) the desktop is fully empty, no even Any Applications/Shotcuts/System+
date-shutdown button
+ no more icon on the desktop

This make the system cannot even be properly shutdown

= just decided to stay in Ubuntu 10.10 until bug has been fixed

[Bug 749602] Re: Nothing tells you what Guest Additions to install

See bug #738330
It seems VirtualBox 4.0.8 + GuestAdditions 4.0.8 may correct this

[Bug 738330] Re: Today's Natty update means no guest additions in virtualbox

2011-05-18 Thread ludo33200
Just installed Ubuntu 11.4 on VirtualBox 4.0.8 + GuestAdditions 4.08
After the first reboot, natty says the graphic card is not the good one
After having installed GuestAdditions 4.0.8 + reboot it seems to works fine

Release notes for VirtualBox 4.0.8 says
http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Changelog
* 3D support: fixed GNOME 3 rendering under Ubuntu 11.04 and Fedora 15

[Bug 703696] [NEW] brasero image file has wrong size and content

2011-01-16 Thread ludo33200
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

This bug is following bug #474233 telling brasero still has problems to burn
cds and eject it at the end
I might have found a reason (bug?) why Brasero does not properly burn CDs

Ubuntu 10.10 / Brasero 2.32.0

Encountered behavior:
Asked Brasero to make an ISO image from a directory of about 400Mb files.
Brasero said 100% OK but the ISO image file is only 2Mb !!!
This 2Mb file seems tp correspond only to MD5 sums + directory file names.

Well... now i can tell there is no reason saying this is a hard problem because
the bug appear without the burner.
(i would add i've already tried to burn with an other burner)

Following bug #474233 i've tried to burn a CD with k3b (other burning soft) and
... this soft asks me whenever i want to brun hidden files.
Asking YES k3b burned the CD and the CD is OK

Maybe brasero doesn't like hidden files ?
following, i join file listing + iso image + brasero project file.

** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 702581] [NEW] with brasero or k3b burn first tell 100%success then fails and the disk cannot be correctly burned

2011-01-13 Thread ludo33200
Public bug reported:

already filled a first bug report about brasero
Brasero Disc Burner. The disc in CD/DVD Drive cannot be ejected. An unknown
error occured
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/486114/comments/8
Seems when burning, brasero says 100%success, then tries to eject th disk
unsuccessfully.
The disk has to me manually ejected and ... data is corrupted on the disk
Some times, even after having ejected the disk, it seems it is stll mounted
In some cases the disk can be read may data are corrupted. With a rewriteable
media, the disk is so corrupted, than inserting such burned cd in the drive,
the system consider there is no cd in the drive and the CD no longuer can be
read and even erased.
This seems to be a brasero reported bug but... in an older version. Fix should
have been released.

Filling conrtibutions with this bug i was told to try with something else than
brasero.
Then i tried toburn with k3b
K3b says 100% success but in the same time says the operations is not finished
(50%) and... says there is no media. The problem is : it says it has no media
as the burning procedure is engaged : so the media is physically here but... it
seems the system has lost any reference to the currently burned cd.
Going to join screen copy for the exact report of k3b if usefull.

K3B starts burning and says write successul + media is not present=load a
