[Bug 905649] [NEW] Error SpliX Cannot read pixel line when printing 2 pages per side from evince

2011-12-17 Thread maharaja
Public bug reported:

I used to be able to print 2 pages per side on my Samsung SCX4216f.

i *think* that since upgrading to the most recent printing related
packages from oneiric-proposed (cups 1.5.0-8ubuntu6, ghostscript 9.04
~dfsg-0ubuntu11.4, etc.) printing 2 pages per side stopped working.

1. printing the Test Page from the printer configuration dialog works (see
logs). however, the test page is only 1/4th (or so) of the size it should be
(sticking in the top, left corner). (Jobs 177, 181)
2. printing a regular text document from gedit works. (Job 180)
3. printing the same pdf with 1 page per side from evince works. (Job 182)
4. printing 2 pages with 2 pages per side from firefox works. (Job 183)

However, printing 2 pages per side from evince did not work (Job 178 or
179, i'm not completely sure).

Please find the corresponding logs attached.

[Bug 890266] [NEW] pressing C for Copy in the context menu

2011-11-14 Thread maharaja
Public bug reported:

until some oneiric beta version, i was able to press c inside the
context menu to copy the currently selected text.

right now, there seem to be some hidden entries in the context menu and
i need to press c several times to highlight Copy.

how to reproduce:
1. open terminal
2. select some text
3. press the right mouse button to bring up the context menu
4. press c a couple of times to finally select the Copy entry.

[Bug 488153] Re: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0 (sky2): transmit queue 0 timed out

2011-04-23 Thread maharaja
ok, i managed to narrow it down. the problem is triggered when calling:
sudo ethtool -s eth0 autoneg off speed 100

this, for example, happens via
 sudo /etc/pm/power.d/eth_speed true

my (network) setup:
ACER Aspire Easystore H340 using
09:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8071 PCI-E
Gigabit Ethernet Controller [11ab:436b] (rev 16)

Linksys WRT54GL running OpenWRT Backfire (10.03.1-rc4, r24045) (linux version
2.6.32.25):
CPU revision is: 00029008 (Broadcom BCM3302)
 eth0: Broadcom 44xx/47xx 10/100BaseT Ethernet 00:18:f8:78:77:fe
b43-phy0: Broadcom 5352 WLAN found (core revision 9)
Broadcom 43xx driver loaded [ Features: PL, GPIO LED Mask: 0x000f,
 Firmware-ID: FW13 ]
 Broadcom 43xx-legacy driver loaded [ Features: PLID, Firmware-ID: FW10 ]

a kernel panic does *not* occur every time. still, the network connection goes
away.
usually, the system shows:
 Apr 23 10:43:16 media kernel: [ 125.151216] sky2 :09:00.0: eth0: Link is
up at 100 Mbps, full duplex, flow control both

and then, the network is unreachable...

do you have any idea on this (besides not setting the nic speed to 100
and disabling power management in this regard)?

i'm experiencing this bug with my ACER Aspire Easystore H340 running
ubuntu natty.

this happens after the box switches to UP code (i do not know if this is
actually related, but i notice that it *always* happens after the
switch).

please find the syslog file attached.

cheers,

[Bug 569016] [NEW] please update aic94xx sequencer to v35

unfortunately, i have no direct link to any adaptec site at hand. most
probably, these files have been directly provided by an adaptec employee
(they have also supplied me with v32 and v34dbg sequencers in the past).

[Bug 99740] Re: Firefox problems with desktop-effects

2008-11-12 Thread maharaja
Thanks guys! I simply deleted the whole ~/.mozilla directory, which
seemed to do the trick for me. Now I'm running desktop-effects as normal
and haven't experienced the bug since. This is what I did:

1) export firefox bookmarks

2) quit firefox

3) go to the home directory and delete the ~/.mozilla directory (don't
worry, firefox recreates it later)

4) restart firefox

[Bug 99740] Re: Firefox problems with desktop-effects

2008-10-31 Thread maharaja
I can confirm that this bug still occurs with desktop-effects on:

Ubuntu/8.10 (intrepid)
Gnome/2.24.1
Firefox/3.0.3

unchecking Allow scripts DID NOT work for me. Firefox still resizes
over and obscures both panels. However, disabling desktop-effects
prevents the bug from appearing.

[Bug 180089] Re: fatal error on grub-install (hd0) related to partition type

2008-02-29 Thread maharaja
maybe i did not clearify myself. i will try to remember and explain
myself:

1) i had a partition, formatted with windows (so id=7, fs = ntfs)
2) i installed ubuntu and chose to install it to hda2. i only formatted the
partition with ext3 and did not change anything else
3) running grub failed and i suspected it was because of hda2 had partition
id=7 instead of partition id=83. so grub failed to choose the proper stage
(which should be e2fs_stage1_5)

its not about messing up an existing windows partion, loosing data, etc.
it is about chosing an existing windows partition to install ubuntu, and
ubuntu only formats the disk (thats ok) but does not change the parition
type and thus producing a grub error.

cheers,
raoul

ps: maharaja != Raoul Teeuwen. Even thou the firstname matches, i'm a
different person ;)

[Bug 180089] fatal error on grub-install (hd0)

2008-01-03 Thread maharaja
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

installing on an existing partition, grub throws an error and the
installer exists.

the reason seems to be, that i had the wrong partition type (i formatted
an ntfs volume with ext3 via the installer).

$ sudo sfdisk -d /dev/hda

# partition table of /dev/hda
unit: sectors

/dev/hda1 : start= 63, size= 39070017, Id= 7, bootable
/dev/hda2 : start= 39070080, size= 19535040, Id=7
/dev/hda3 : start= 58605120, size= 19551105, Id=83
/dev/hda4 : start=0, size=0, Id= 0

so wrong is:
/dev/hda2 : start= 39070080, size= 19535040, Id=7
correct is:
