[Bug 1295627] Re: Wrong language (German) after fresh install

2018-09-18 Thread Jonas - JLSolutions.eu manager
@gunnarhj, "guessing" a locale should not use a locale used only by a very
small percentage of people in Belgium.
>From the format I'm going to assume it's picking the first locale it can find?
In that case I would actually suggest to remote de_BE from the default locale
listing as it's a very niche market, see

Fresh install from Ubuntu-MATE 17.10.
During installation, chosen language: English, location: Brussels.
All the menus are in English, but date and time are in German.
It can be solved by the user going to "Language support > Regional Format".

[Bug 1295627] Re: Wrong language (German) after fresh install

2015-06-03 Thread Jonas - JLSolutions.eu manager
Hi

Confirming that this bug still affects 14.04.2 LTS, tested trough clean
install with location setting to Brussels. result is a semi german
interface = unexpected behaviour.

expected behaviour:
nl_BE locales (for correct punctuations) and default (selected) language locale
(probably en_US) for LANG

[Bug 1313726] Re: irrelevant shutdown menu at login screen

2014-05-23 Thread CIIR Systems Manager
I had this happen after an in-house script installed sssd. Either the
package or the script modified /etc/pam.d/common-session and removed the
line:

session optional pam_systemd.so

Restoring that line brought back the proper shut down functionality.

[Bug 1266687] [NEW] Super+Space can not be used for switching keyboard layouts

2014-01-07 Thread manager
Public bug reported:

Keyboard indicator does not respond to Super+Space, the default shortcut
for switching to next source.

Release: 13.10
Package indicator-keyboard version  0.0.0+13.10.20131010.1-0ubuntu1

I have two layouts: English (Macintosh) and Hebrew. When pressing
Super+Space, I was expecting to switch back and forth between the two.
Super+Space is the default short cut.

When I press Super+Space, nothing happens.

When I change the setting for Switch to previous source as
Alt+Super+Space, I can switch layouts. This is not set by default,
AFAIK.

NOTES:

It is significantly more difficult for users to work out where to setup
keyboard options now. AFAIK, i-bus is responsible for layout switching,
though xkb is set for anything else? Though some of the old options are
availabe now under Shortcuts setting, ie Compose etc., not everything
is available. For example, remaping Caps-Lock etc.

Also, there's a duplication in setting switch to next source, which can
be mapped in Settings - Text Entry, and Settings - Keyboard -
Shortcuts

[Bug 1266691] [NEW] Selecting the Apple Laptop keyboard layout

2014-01-07 Thread manager
Public bug reported:

I've noticed the existence of an apple laptop keyboard model for
xkeyboard-config, yet this is not available for selection from GUI.

Release 13.10
Package indicator-keyboard version keyboard-config

When I go to Settings- Text Entry and I click on the + button, I
expect to see in the list of models an option for an Apple Laptop.

This model is not available in the list.

NOTES

I'm assuming I would be the layout to use on my Macbook Pro, rather than
plain English (Macintosh) which is, AFAIK, the desktop aluminum
keyboard.

[Bug 891726] [NEW] Desktop freeze after failure to authenticate to WiFi

2011-11-17 Thread manager
Public bug reported:

After repeated failures to authenticate to WPA2 router, the desktop
freezes. Also, while trying, I could not launch any other app, nor run
any command at all on the command line (eg. sudo network-manager
restart).

After my router was switched off, I could not re-authenticate (WAP2). I
get a chance to re-enter the pass phrase couple of times, but the
eventually the desktop freezes if I try to cancel the operation.

While in the process, I tried launching the network setting panel, or
run commands from the command line (Alt+Ctl+F1), but with no luck.

This is my 5-6 installation of ubuntu 11.10 on a MacBook Pro (6,2) and
this behavior is very consistent and always happens eventually.

As I can not access the OS anymore, I can not provide the other
information required. I've updated the system with the current updates
available in the official repositories, but regard less, this problem
manifests it self even when runing of a vanilla installation w/o any
modifications.

This time around, I didn't install the restricted drives for the
Broadcom chip, and was able to connect wirelessly w/o a problem.

[Bug 805685] [NEW] libreoffice gets unity dock broken (always visible, in front of the maximized window)

2011-07-04 Thread Jonas - JLSolutions.eu manager
Public bug reported:

when using libreoffice a while the dock suddenly just appears stays there,
just while working inside libreoffice
fully closing libreoffice (so all windows) fixes the issue; then you can start
it again and continue the work... for a (small) time

this is really annoying me; I'm unable to efficiently work because of
this (it takes several steps to get back to where I was)

happens in multiple libreoffice packages (seen the problem in writer,
calc base; others are probably also affected; so probably some
compatibility issues with the main libreoffice package.

need more info? I'll reply ASAP

(p.s.: I thought this bug has been filed already, but I can't find it
true search)

[Bug 803755] Re: Unity does not display clock, meme_button, email_notification, and much more buttons on the right corner

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 803689 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/803689

this happened to me before aswell; it's caused (in my case) by a bad
screen resolution setting; or using multiple screens in extended
interface

(in my case) it then just showed up at the other screen, so not a bug;
just another way of handling

[Bug 780204] Re: [launcher] In multimonitor setup, launcher should always be on the leftmost monitor

2011-06-30 Thread Jonas - JLSolutions.eu manager
I'd go for implementation 1; I'm sure you have examples where having the
launcher on the left monitor isn't the best way
quick example: 3-monitor setup: left, primary (middle) right
left = stats/uptime monitor or mail; ... always open;
middle= normal working area
right = some other stats/app

in this case, having the launcher on the left screen is far from
productive;

[Bug 803697] [NEW] multitouch not working on (new) multitouch screen

2011-06-29 Thread Jonas - JLSolutions.eu manager
Public bug reported:

I bought myself a new multitouch screen, however it's like ubuntu never
set itself up to use multitouch; I'm able to use single touch; but there
isn't any multitouch capability I'm able to do (tried several things;
also not recognized as a touchpad since 2-finger scrolling doesn't work
eather AND it's not moving the mouse on touch but placing it where my
finger is

please fix asap or tell me what package I need to manually
install/update/activate/whatever

Thanks :)

[Bug 798416] Re: unity dock got stuck

2011-06-16 Thread Jonas - JLSolutions.eu manager
no it didn't, it was like that for over 5 minutes; also if a smaller
window gets against the dock it should hide; but it didn't eather.

it suddenly worked again; I think it was after closing the window that
stood under the dock for a while (it didn't help to put that window
away from the dock)
