[Bug 1340739] [NEW] Video tearing when rotated second screen is set
Public bug reported: I have a dual monitor setup - one regular, one rotated. All seems to be well on the regularly oriented monitor, however on the rotated one, there is significant video tearing when dragging windows - which is worse when done vertically. I have tried with 14.04, and I am using Haswell HD4600. Unfortunately the problem renders me unable to use Ubuntu, as smooth scrolling is important for my work. Any pointers very much appreciated. [Bug 563878] Re: Ubuntu splashscreen big and ugly after installing ATI/nVidia proprietary graphics driver
Same issue here. I've got 10.04 running on my HD Home Theatre PC (in fact, that I bought especially to run Lynx on). Splash was working beautifully (sort of) until I installed the nVidia proprietary drivers (essential for decent video experience etc). Now, I have the flashing cursor / big, dog-ugly splashes. I'm ordinarily OK with hacking things about to get it to work, but on this occasion I've not been able to fix this, and I've 'run out of steam' with something that I think should work out of the box. It's making Ubuntu a hard-sell to the tens of people I've converted, former Windows users who value superficial 'shiny' things and make comparisons to W7 boxes they've seen. It's a hard question for me to answer when they ask me why it doesn't look as nice as their former 9.10 installation did on boot-up. As another commenter has said, I'd rather it take a few seconds longer to boot and retain as nice a boot experience as 9.10 did. I don't want to loose my Ubuntu users on the basis of something so trivial, but that's how it works in the minds of the non tech-savvy. -- Ubuntu splashscreen big and ugly after installing ATI/nVidia proprietary graphics driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/563878 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 496616] Re: Mediaplayer crashed with "pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated"
Thought I'd chime in and add that I'm having this error too: pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated ...when trying to watch DVD's in Totem. [Bug 313430] [NEW] Correct screen resolution cannot be set on Latitude D610 (Intel 915)
Public bug reported: Problem encountered in Intrepid. The correct supported screen resolution doesn't work, offering only a 1024 X 768 maximum resolution. This is occuring on an Intel 915 based variety of the Dell Latitude D610 laptop (not the separately available ATI version). I have tried using dkpg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg, and manually entered the details into xorg.conf. However, this makes the problem worse and X does not re-launch properly - Ubuntu will subsequently only run in Safe Graphics mode. Perhaps there is a manual fix however a) I can't find one and b) the 915GM is not an uncommon graphics chip so I don't think manual intervention should be required. I would also add that the general display is 'fuzzy' - nothing looks as sharp as it does on Windows on the same machine. This, for now, has rendered Ubuntu unusable for me and I fear it might put off others trying it on this (fairly) common notebook. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Correct screen resolution cannot be set on Latitude D610 (Intel 915) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313430 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
