The crash looked very similar to the go crash that I had filed earlier. Unfortunately, I don't have the kvm anymore to gather any additional logs. Seth, this log is from the last boot and kernel buffer has not wrapped. I assume that either nothing got logged or some other issue is going on.. [Bug 549801] Re: USB WiFi adapter with rt2870 chipset won't connect
I had this issue some months ago with 10.04 and I came across this thread. I followed the steps above to blacklist rt2800usb and then installed the backports compat wireless package and things worked fine. Today, I upgraded to 10.10 and it all fell apart again. I made sure I had the correct backports package, tried both with and without blacklisting rt2800usb, still won't work. Interestingly, NetworkManager does actually detect the device and does detect various access points - but is just unable to connect to any of them.
