[Bug 530871] Re: Does not detect hotplugged storage device

2010-03-09 Thread marcogoni
I can confirm this behaviour on Lucid Alpha 3 updated today.
A single partition usb disk is not mounted or detected automatically, but
mounts fine manually.
Maybe it's related the fact that even gparted does not detect this usb disk.

[Bug 264769] Re: Intrepid - SIS video snow/fuzz

2009-03-16 Thread marcogoni
Hi,
bad news... i went to the IRC #xorg-devel as suggested and asked to airlied
(Dave Airlie):

18:19 < mcogoni> i have a Intel D201GLY2 / D201GLY2A Mini-ITX motherboard
18:19 < mcogoni> and it displays a lot of noisy vertical bands
18:19 < mcogoni> when the resolution is over 1024x768
18:20 < mcogoni> the integrated graphics is a Sis Mirage 1 or Sis 662 I think
18:20 < mharris> Good chance a given expert may be counting sheep right now
mind you... ;o)
18:20 < mcogoni> bah...
18:21 < mcogoni> the point is that a driver solving this problem exists from sis
18:22 < mcogoni> but apparently nobody upstream is including this fix
18:22 < airlied> yeah nobody has taken the time to merge the SiS stuff into the
Xorg stuff
18:22 < mcogoni> exactly airlied, is there any hope for the future?
18:23 < airlied> not unless someone does it, nobody maintains SiS
18:23 < airlied> and SiS don't seem interested in updating it
18:23 < mcogoni> uhm, ok...
18:23 < airlied> I started playing with diffs last year
18:24 < airlied> the diff is quite large though.
18:25 < mcogoni> so very few chances
18:26 < airlied> if someone identified the fix it would be easy
18:26 < airlied> the problem is we just have a full code tree from SiS.

2008-11-08 Thread marcogoni
wow,
i don't understand if Bokkie is just having fun or what?
posting an incredibly out of focus picture is really not helpful
to solve this annoying bug.
and of course the problem does not show up on his screenshot...
so Mr Bokkie, are you serious AND just incompetent or what?
so i'll stick to Napoleon adage: never attribute to malice...

in the next hours i'll post the pictures i've taken myself.

and btw, the problem has always existed in every version of ubuntu
when you go over 1024x768.

[Bug 189398] Re: Cisco Aironet stopped working in Hardy

2008-03-07 Thread marcogoni
Hi, I bypassed the problem in a crude way.
Since the problem comes from the padlock_aes module that of course does not
find any hardware on my pc, I went in the /lib/modules/2.6.24-xxx/modules.alias
and I commented out the first two occurrences of AES that link to padlock and
geode hardware.
So, the airo driver works perfectly now and the boot process is smooth as
usual. Somebody should modify the configuration in a way that aes_generic or
something like that is used on normal hardware.

Hope it works for you too!

[Bug 199059] [NEW] [Hardy] Thinkpad X31 (ATI Radeon M6) suspend backlight on

2008-03-06 Thread marcogoni
Public bug reported:

When suspending in Hardy and latest kernel 2.6.24-11-generic the

suspend is pointless. This happens on a Thinkpad X31 with ATI Radeon M6

2008-03-05 Thread marcogoni
This is a duplicate of another bug (#189398). The problem is due to the new
kernel wanting to load the cryptographic modules like padlock_aes and
geode_aes. To solve it, just put them in the blacklist. In this way the generic
AES module gets loaded and wifi works. Hope it solves your problem too.

2008-02-06 Thread marcogoni
I can totally confirm this behavior for a cisco aironet mp350 in my thinkpad
X31.
The kernel 2.6.24-5 hangs exactly at the same point as joenix.
I observe the same symptom in the Debian experimental 2.6.24, so it's maybe
an upstream regression. I'll compile a vanilla kernel tomorrow to check this.

Changing to confirmed since using the crux theme I can reproduce exactly the
bug.
I think importance should be low since nobody uses that ugly crux theme! :D

[Bug 44485] Re: Brighness state not restored after blank screen

2007-10-10 Thread marcogoni
On Gutsy this behavior has been solved.
The only problem is that if I set a default brightness at 70%
on battery power, I would like to be able to change it with the
buttons manually and not to have the power manager re-set
after a while to the preset! This is just a feature request... :-)

I am marking it as solved.

the X31 will not come alive and I have to power it off.

2.6.22-14.

[Bug 150361] Display corrupted after last ATI driver update

2007-10-07 Thread marcogoni
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-driver-ati

After the latest gutsy upgrade of the xserver-xorg-driver-ati package I have
a color corruption of the screen as if there was a whitish grid on top of the
image.
I tried to deactivate DRI but no difference is observed.
Also, the first pixel row on top of the screen is partially not drawed after the
word "Applications".

My system is a Thinkpad X31 with a Radeon Mobility 7000 LY M6 with 16Mb.

PS: with vesa driver everything works perfectly.
