Re: [Bug 345166] Re: Tomboy tries to load fuse module in Jaunty...and can't
Loic I'm not 100% convinced that this warrants a SRU and I heard Loic that a 0.14.2 SRU might be prepared soonish, since I don't Loic run tomboy myself I'll leave this alone for now. I confess I don't know what an SRU is, but if you mean that you don't think it's worth adding the fixed tomboy to 9.04 then I disagree. The world moves toward net-based syncing of such information (see foxmarks/xmarks), and sadly with GNOME we did not introduce an early strategy for separating out to be saved/synced stuff. So the fact that Tomboy allows such syncing should be encouraged. -- Tomboy tries to load fuse module in Jaunty...and can't https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345166 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 382022] [NEW] k9copy hangs as you start a backup
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: k9copy mozart-~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 9.04 Release:9.04 mozart-~$ apt-cache policy k9copy k9copy: Installed: 2.3.0-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 2.3.0-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 2.3.0-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/multiverse Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status mozart-~$ A few weeks ago (some time in early May) k9copy started hanging when it should start authoring. I thought it might be that it depended on some kde service that was not installed (I run gnome), so I did an apt-get install kde, but it still hangs. Standard output shows that it should run the command: dvdauthor -x /tmp/kde-markgalassi/k9copy/k9aj15005.xml but it never executes that. Note that I can run that command from the shell and it works very well. If I run k9copy under strace there is way too much output, but where it hangs it's in a loop of failing read() calls (EAGAIN error) and poll() calls (timeout). Re: [Bug 218230] Re: gtk file dialog blocks on trackerd (via dbus) for 25s for users with NFS homedirs
Svein Deleting the tracker cache (~/.cache/tracker) solves the Svein problem (but of course removes the cache). It's incredible Svein that this bug is still around given it's consequences. That does not solve the problem for everyone else. People have proposed nfs, dbus, tracker, various other things. The problem is still there when I apply all the solutions I have seen. Clearly there is some foolish delicate code in the file selection dialog which almost anything can cause to hang. We can enumerate many of the things that can make it hang, but that won't solve the problem. For example, nobody's solution has worked for me :-) -- gtk file dialog blocks on trackerd (via dbus) for 25s for users with NFS homedirs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 218230] Re: gtk file dialog blocks on trackerd (via dbus) for 25s for users with NFS homedirs
Traxter I'd like to add my two cents as I got this problem today Traxter and was able to resolve it. Traxter I followed the advice above to uninstall the tracker tool Traxter but this itself didn't get rid of the problem. I therefore Traxter restarted dbus with sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart and Traxter after a couple of seconds when I got my desktop back the Traxter problem was gone. That was one of the things people recommended long ago, but it did not work for me. Re: [Bug 218230] Re: gtk file dialog blocks on trackerd (via dbus) for 25s for users with NFS homedirs
Following the suggestions Ville Koskinen wrote on 2008-05-15: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tracker/+bug/218230/comments/14 I found the .beagle directory to be the problem: Doesn't fix it for me. I wonder how many other directories with stale stuff are still an issue -- people have suggested beagle, nfs, but ultimately socket reads and network filesystem reads can take a long time to time out, but it should not hang an application that is not reading/writing form/to them. So it's a bug in gtk. [Bug 241167] [NEW] selection problem in pidgin
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pidgin I have always selected and pasted from pidgin to other windows. Today I found that in the current version I'm using (1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2, on an up- to-date ubuntu 8.04) inserts non-printing characters which look like spaces but mess up the pasting into a shell. For example, if you type cat filename | awk '{print $2, $3}' to someone in the IM (I was using AIM protocol, but I doubt it's relevant), when they select and paste into a gnome-terminal window they will find weird messages because the white spaces are not really white spaces -- they have other junk. [Bug 218230] [NEW] gnome or gtk file dialog is terribly slow
Public bug reported: mozart-~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 8.04 Release:8.04 mozart-~$ with a full apt-get -u dist-upgrade from 2008-04-16 Every program which brings up a gnome file dialog (open or save) freezes for half a minute to a minute before showing the dialog. Examples: Firefox File-Open File, Openoffice Write File-Save As, gimp File-Open image Since the gimp also has it, I wonder if it's a gtk problem instead of a gnome problem. I consider it a crippling problem. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnome or gtk file dialog is terribly slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
