[Bug 1684100] Re: TP-LINK TL-WN722N 150MBPS not working on Ubuntu 17.04. Worked fine on 16.10

2017-04-20 Thread Iain Mellis
Hmm,
with usb card plugin I get:
~$ iwconfig
enp4s0no wireless extensions.

lono wireless extensions.

wlxf81a6721bb82 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:off/any
  Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=20 dBm
  Retry short limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
  Power Management:off

enp0s29u1u7 no wireless extensions.

Without I get
iwconfig
enp4s0no wireless extensions.

lono wireless extensions.

enp0s29u1u7 no wireless extensions.

so should it read

[device-wlxf81a6721bb82]
match-device=wlxf81a6721bb82
wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=0

??

There won't be much I can do about then will there? Oh well. I'll have
to wait until they update things.

I'm using phablet-tools with ssh via a usb cable from my ubuntu 16.04
laptop

I'll have a go with the Terminal App tonight but I was under the
impression it wouldn't work unless mounted via a laptop/desktop?

[Bug 998954] Re: File Menu lacks contrast, theme issue

2012-07-18 Thread David A. Mellis
BTW, what is the recommended or generally-used look and feel for Java
applications on Ubuntu? Should we be explicitly specifying one at all?

[Bug 703498] Re: PANIC: early exception after adding PCI video card

2011-02-15 Thread mellis
I just realized the problem. I was attempting to add an x16 video card
to an x8 slot. If this is still considered a bug I will test the
upstream kernel.

[Bug 703498] [NEW] PANIC: early exception after adding PCI video card

2011-01-16 Thread mellis
Public bug reported:

I attempted to add another video card to my system and I get this
message:

PANIC: early exception 0e rip 10:81306d96 error 9 cr2
ff400844

This occurs every time I have a new PCI video card in my system. Pulling
the new card makes the problem go away. All my video cards are nvidia. I
tried it with two new cards so I don't think its an issue with the video
cards themselves.

[Bug 380027] [NEW] RXTX library not visible to Sun JRE 5

2009-05-24 Thread David A. Mellis
Public bug reported:

On 9.04, the librxtx-java package (version 2.1.7r2-4) installs in a way
/ location that's not visible to Sun's JRE (sun-java5-bin version
1.5.0-18-1). That is, I need to manually add /usr/lib to my
LD_LIBRARY_PATH and /usr/share/java/RXTXcomm.jar to my classpath in
order to use RXTX. (I installed RXTX after the JRE.) Is it possible to
install the library in a way that makes it automatically visible to the
Sun JRE?

[Bug 248279] [NEW] battery may be broken alert is unhelpful and unpleasant

2008-07-13 Thread David A. Mellis
Public bug reported:

When I log in to Ubuntu, I'm greeted with a message saying that my
battery may be broken. (Something like Because your battery's capacity
is only 44%, it may be old or broken.). In fact, my battery is old and
does not have the capacity it used to. Pointing this out explicitly,
however, serves little purpose (since I can already tell that my battery
life sucks) and sounds like a slight against my computer. I'd remove
the message.

[Bug 246812] [NEW] rhythmbox should perform feed discovery when subscribing to a podcast

2008-07-08 Thread David A. Mellis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I should be able to subscribe to a podcast using the URL of a web page
that has feeds embedded. That is, rhythmbox should do auto-discovery in
the same way as, for example, Google Reader does.

[Bug 246813] [NEW] Assertion failed when pressing enter in firefox location bar.

2008-07-08 Thread David A. Mellis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I typed it into the awesome (hah!) bar which brought up the URL:
http://itc.conversationsnetwork.org/

When I press enter, I got a dialog with the following. I was in the
middle of updating my Ubuntu packages, if that matters. I also
installed the Macromedia Flash Plugin package.
