[Bug 92992] Laptop speakers won't mute when using headphones

2007-03-16 Thread Mempf
Public bug reported:

I am having a problem with laptop sound under feisty fawn.

When plugging in headphones into the headphone jack on my Compaq V3000Z
(AMD Turion X2) the speakers do not mute and the sound mixer controls
both the headphone and speaker volumes.

According to lspci this is the sound device my laptop uses:
00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)

I hope this helps fix this issue.

[Bug 87748] Easy-Codec-Installation gone missing

2007-02-25 Thread Mempf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I am running an up to date feisty installation and I reinstalled today
and updated fully.

I went to test out the new easy-codec-installation feature again with an
mp3 file but when I tried to play it totem just told me I was missing
the mp3 codec and did not install it or take me to the place to install
it as it has done so in the past.

This also occurs with other formats I do not have installed such as ASF
and xvid.

To my knowledge easy-codec-installation is set to high priority as a
feature and I hope this helps get this problem fixed soon.

[Bug 79250] Synaptic hangs when reading/saving markings

2007-01-14 Thread Mempf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

In synaptic package manager there are options that let you save markings
to a file and also read markings from a file.

In edgy eft this feature worked perfectly. However when trying to do
this in an up to date feisty synaptic justs hangs and needs to be closed
by ending the process.

This occurs every time that you select read markings, save markings or
save markings as.

You can find all of these options under the file menu of synaptic.

I find the feature very useful when reinstalling ubuntu and hope thsi
bug gets fixed soon.

I am trying to install Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft off the daily-live disk from
Aug. 31st.

The disk will boot up to the point where usplash dissappers and then I
just get a blank screen.

Removing splash from the boot options will allow the cd to boot
properly.

When installing from the alternate-cd Ubuntu installs perfectly and even
keeping the splash option in the boot settings will allow Ubuntu to
boot.

This problem seems only to occur on the live install disks.

I have also found someone on ubuntuforums.org with the exact same
problem except his Ubuntu is already installed and started having this
issue after updates.

Here is the URL to his thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=245468

I have a Compaq V2000Z laptop with an AMD Turion and an ATI Xpress 200M
video chipset.
