[Bug 1970126] [NEW] gqrx crash on startup with SIGSEGV in gr::funcube::fcdpp::make()
Public bug reported: After installing Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and installing gqrx ("gqrx-sdr") from the repositories, gqrx crashes consistently on startup. It worked fine on 21.10. The SDR is a Funcube Pro+. I raised a bug on github gqrx-sdr: https://github.com/gqrx- sdr/gqrx/issues/1120 At the moment, it looks as if the gqrx-sdr package is unusable due to a change in gr-funcube. [Bug 1930754] Re: e1000e extremly slow
Brilliant! This seems to have solved the issues on our new Dell OptiPlex 7090s too . Apologies if this is obvious ... but does this fix end up being back- ported into HWE (I seem to recall reading that it may do that after 3 weeks or something?) [Bug 1742789] Re: Xen PV Guest won't boot latest kernel- OSError: [Errno 28] No space left on device
FWIW, I ran into this issue on when booting the latest available kernel (after an update) on a Debian VM running on a Debian host. Only booting the latest kernel triggered the issue. The key was the "Device out of space" message that lead me to this bug/message. As vt100 found, and christiank confirmed, the amount of space allocated to /run was the issue. Extending /run solved the issue. For those running into this issue and Googling, I saw two different errors on two different VMs (taken from the consoles after a failed boot): VM 1 gave the following errors on boot (Note the lack of a 'out of space' message): libxl: error: libxl_device.c:1086:device_backend_callback: unable to add device with path /local/domain/0/backend/vbd/16/51714 libxl: error: libxl_device.c:1086:device_backend_callback: unable to add device with path /local/domain/0/backend/vbd/16/51715 libxl: error: libxl_create.c:1255:domcreate_launch_dm: unable to add disk devices libxl: error: libxl.c:1575:libxl__destroy_domid: non-existant domain 16 libxl: error: libxl.c:1534:domain_destroy_callback: unable to destroy guest with domid 16 libxl: error: libxl.c:1463:domain_destroy_cb: destruction of domain 16 failed Whereas VM 2 gave the following errors, which ultimately lead to this thread: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/xen-4.8/bin/pygrub", line 917, in os.write(fd, ostring) OSError: [Errno 28] No space left on device Maybe the above will help some other poor soul who has been beating their head against this problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1742789 Title: Xen PV Guest won't boot latest kernel- OSError: [Errno 28] No space left on device To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1742789/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1919255] Re: tracker-store crashed with signal 5
Please ignore my earlier comment. This does still occur, I just didn't see it has I had inadvertently set apport to automatically report so there was no pop-up. After boot, tracker seems to run normally, at least initially: merlin@Minmus:~$ tracker status Currently indexed: 26384 files, 2120 folders Remaining space on database partition: 735.6 GB (83.31%) Data is still being indexed: Estimated 02m 44s left After the crash, I see: merlin@Minmus:~$ tracker status Currently indexed: 0 files, 0 folders Remaining space on database partition: 735.4 GB (83.29%) Data is still being indexed: Estimated 36s left Deleting the database at ~/.cache/tracker/meta.db does not fix the problem. [Bug 1777257] Re: Dell Inspiron 17r 5737 Ubuntu 18.04 Video Looks Very Strange
Hi Christopher. Answering your questions in turn: 1) All I can say for the moment is that it was OK in Ubuntu 17.10 and not OK in 18.04. 2) The monitor is actually a Samsung television, model no. UE40EH5000. However, I want to be clear that the issue is with the screen in the laptop itself, not anything external. The issue occurs whether or not an external monitor (television) is connected. 3) Straight HDMI cable. This post from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1300349 looks particularly relevant: Peter-jezdec (peter-jezdec) wrote on 2014-11-11:#49 Christopher, the first good commit is 344c5bbcb7a282cc59e2f111c8801106c4fe315c. [Bug 665789] Re: plymouth breaks 'read' in initramfs
It likely is the same, yes. Personally, I stopped caring. I got tired of ubuntu shoving things like plymouth down our throats and came to realize that it was my fault for realizing that ubuntu was not the appropriate distribution for my needs anymore. It's meant for people who don't tinker with their systems, like windows like interactions with their computer, and it's often hard to change its behaviour as well as being a WONTFIX to make the distribution more configurable (like making plymouth optional). So, I just went back to debian, and I'm happy camper. This doesn't fix this bug, but it fixes my problem :) As a side note, things like upstart and plymouth would have gone so much better if they had been carefully documented instead of being rolled out mostly working and very undocumented like they were. Oliver, first I do compile my own kernels, just to clear that up (not that it should make a difference). Second, I'm pretty sure it's not a kernel issue since the same kernel does work with karmic and not with oneiric. Then, since the fuse mount managed to use obex to talk to my phone, clearly the kernel bits work (especially since my non working app started working too at that time), it is userspace that broke in some way. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/839157 Title: Bluetooth applet (OBEX send/browse) does not work anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/839157/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 839157] Re: Bluetooth applet (OBEX send/browse) does not work anymore
Сергій, thanks for the hint, obexftp still fails for me while, but obexfs actually works. gandalfthegrey:~# obexftp -b 3c:5a:37:83:7f:2a -l Browsing 3c:5a:37:83:7f:2a ... Connecting...failed: connect Tried to connect for 2ms The user may have rejected the transfer: Connection refused gandalfthegrey:~# mount -t fuse obexfs#-b3C:5A:37:83:7F:2A /mnt/mnt gandalfthegrey:~# bluetooth-applet browse files still does not work (it used to). Ok, now I have something very interesting: I have a custom app that talks over bluetooth and it wasn't working. It was getting: ACL data: handle 12 flags 0x02 dlen 16 L2CAP(s): Connect rsp: dcid 0x scid 0x0041 result 3 status 0 Connection refused - security block Now, if I use mount -t fuse obexfs first, I can browse my files and my other bluetooth app also starts working magically. It seems that fuse manages to do auth better than other apps like obexftp and my custom app, and once that auth has been done, other things just happen to work. As soon as I unmount fuse/obexfs, then things stop working agagin. Clearly, it does something better than the other apps and once it has authed with my phone, other things start working. [Bug 839157] Re: Bluetooth applet (OBEX send/browse) does not work anymore
To add some info, with a 3.1.0 kernel, I have BT working on an old thinkpad with karmic and my 3 android phones. I can browse with obex no problems. With the same 3.1.0 kernel on my now upgraded oneiric laptop (where things used to work with lucid and maverick), I am able to pair with my phones, I have a custom app that's able to talk bluetooth once with my phone, but after that, I see: connect(4, {sa_family=AF_BLUETOOTH, sa_data=*\177\2037Z\31\0\0\0\0\0\0\0}, 10) = -1 ECONNREFUSED (Connection refused) And again, phone and laptop are paired, unpairing/repairing works but only helps my app working once, after which it fails (and it used to work just fine with older ubuntus, and still fine with karmic), and browsing with obex fails reliably (while it works with karmic too). browse files with bluetooth-applet still gives me: Failed to mount OBEX volume: Connection refused for my 3 devices that are otherwise paired fine. ** Also affects: gnome-bluetooth (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-bluetooth (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/839157 Title: Bluetooth applet (OBEX send/browse) does not work anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/839157/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 745011] Re: info: unrecognized option '--convert-db' on upgrade
If I may Scott, this is an answer one might except from microsoft telling you you can't upgrade from XP to W7 without going through Vista. Obviously you know of ubuntu bug #1. I could understand sorry, we don't have the resources to test upgrades from any release to any release, but let me see how I can fix this bug, but not eh, you upgraded wrong, now udev and therefore your entire system won't work, sorry I realize writing upgrades so that they work from older versions of the package takes more time, but debian has been doing it for 15 years and been doing a pretty good job of it. May I recommend trying to emulate them a bit more here? Back to this issue, if others get bitten by it, the workaround of udevadm.upgrade did not work for me. I had to edit the postinst script and comment out the udevadm info --convertdb line for things to continue. Obviously this means whatever udev DB that might be important to my system will not have been upgraded, but at least I get a better chance of still having a usable system after I reboot it than leaving things as is :-/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745011 Title: info: unrecognized option '--convert-db' on upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dpkg/+bug/745011/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 822917] Re: Wireless network in network-manager applet always shows device not ready
for the wireless issue the problem ist likely to be related to the fact that both, the acer-wmi module, and the wireless driver wl (the staging drivers work better, but have other, more annoying issues e.g. lockups) provide a rfkill switch. that and the hardware switch work against each other. a workaround is to remove the acer-wmi module and insert it again. although this doesn't bring the bluetooth to work. i don't have a 3g module. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/822917 Title: Wireless network in network-manager applet always shows device not ready To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/822917/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 670782] Re: mythtv-frontend crashes often
Could you be more specific about latest 0.23.0? I tried 0.23.1+fixes26437-0ubuntu1 from maverick and I can't run that because it's too new to talk to my backend which is running 0.23.0+fixes24220-0ubuntu0+mythbuntu2. But I found useful information: I was able to downgrade my maverick laptop to mythfrontend 0.23.0+fixes24269-0ubuntu0+mythbuntu1 which had been working fine with my laptop when it was running an older k, and got the same crash with: #1 0xa9f5b436 in drm_intel_bo_unreference () from /lib/libdrm_intel.so.1 #2 0xa9ae21a6 in ?? () from /usr/lib/libIntelXvMC.so.1 At this point, it is the upgrade to the new Xorg and newer intel drivers that has been causing this it seems. Would you agree that given the above, the bug should likely be reassigned to xserver-xorg-video-intel ? -- mythtv-frontend crashes often https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670782 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 665789] Re: plymouth breaks 'read' in initramfs
Sorry, I'm going to re-open this because this is still an unaddressed bug: - plymouth breaks initramfs' cryptsetup. - it grabs stdin away from its shell scripts with no rationale as to why or how to turn it off - i t is utterly undocumented whch is unacceptable for a core piece of the system (please point me to docs if I was unable to find them somehow). - it breaks cryptsetup's keyscript=/sbin/cryptgetpw At the very very least you can add a file to /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/ that sets FRAMEBUFFER=n to override the inclusion of plymouth in the initramfs needs to be documented somewhere if breaking cryptsetup functionality in initramfs is absolutely necessary. ** Changed in: plymouth (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- plymouth breaks 'read' in initramfs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/665789 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 665789] [NEW] plymouth breaks 'read' in initramfs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: plymouth In maverick plymouth 0.8.2-2ubuntu5. I'll skip the amount of grief plymouth has cost me in multiple places, it has been echoed by enough other people in bugs and blogs (long story short, I never upgraded to lucid because of plymouth). I eventually went to maverick and it's a tiny bit better, but as far as encryption and initrd goes, it of course grabs the console away and stops script that read input from working. My encryption script did a simple read PASSWORD feed password to cryptsetup read never works because of plymouth. I edited /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-top/plymouth and commented out #printf '\033[?25l' /dev/tty7 #/sbin/plymouthd --mode=boot --attach-to-session --pid-file=/dev/.initramfs/plymouth.pid #/bin/plymouth show-splash I have no idea why this is there, what purpose it serves, but now that I removed them, I can read the encryption password from the command line again and boot properly. Please consider removing this if it's not absolutely necessary, and more generally when you design system enhancements, remember those who actually need boot messages and console access to work reliably and couldn't care less about splash screens and eye candy that removes access to the system when it boots.
