[Bug 767031] [NEW] Rhythmbox volume button does not work as expected in party mode

2011-04-20 Thread mihai007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Normally when you click the volume button situated at the right of the window,
it pops-up the volume slider and it adjusts it's position so that (while you
are still with the mouse button down) you just move up or down and the volume
changes.
Example:
(1 mouse down over the volume button, then mouse move changes the volume and
mouse up closes the volume slider)
This is the normal, expected behavior.
Problem is that when in party mode, if I do mouse down over the volume button,
the volume slider opens but does not receive mouse move events directly to
change volume. Instead I have to click a second time over the slider to change
volume.
So in party mode I have to do click, click, mouse move, click to hide slider.
If I do click, mouse move, mouse up: the slider opens, does not change volume
on mouse move and closes as expected on mouse up.

Ok, I do not understand, as on the Language and Support window I have:
Englush (United States)
English
...other grayed entries...

In text tab I have English (United States)

So I don't actually know what to change after reading that post 25 of the other
bug. It seems that I already have the correct settings...

My login language was always English (United States)

Just checked, and updated the system, (updates were not related with this

check, I can't see the Remove button, so I think the problem is the same.
I made a fresh install of the final version on day 29.

[Bug 572652] [NEW] Users-admin does not set new user ID on advanced window

2010-04-30 Thread mihai007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

Hello.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (final) and just created a user test with
default settings. Then I tried changing it's user id from 1001 to 999 so
that it would not appear at login screen.

The problem is that when changing the uid, the application takes about
10s to process and the uid is changed in the textbox, but id does not
change it actually. After I restart users-admin the uid is the same
1001.

Of course one line in terminal
sudo usermod -u 999 test
fixed this without any complains but if you do have a GUI for this feature then
it should work.

[Bug 548678] [NEW] Ubuntu one fails to install mp3 codec

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Just started live cd of ubuntu 10.04 and in rhythmbox it reapeatedly says that
I do not have mp3plugins and to click to install.
This is ok, I just started live cd.
The problem is that when clicking it says it can't find codecs!

Now I know what the problem here is and how to solve it:
Of course that by default we do not have all repositories activated, so after a
trip to System-Administration-Software sources, tick the universe, ultiverse
clicking on tha install mp3 in rhythmbox works as intended.

Now not everyone knows that the ubuntu one mp3 button problem comes from this.
The button should check if universe/multiverse is enabled, if not enable it or
ask the user (To install mp3 support, multiverse software source needs to be
enabled. Eable? Yes/No)

[Bug 548693] [NEW] Rhythmbox Magnatune fails to load catalog in 10.04

2010-03-26 Thread mihai007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I am testing 10.04 beta1 live CD and rhythmbox fails to load magnatune catalog,
just sits there and telling Loading magnatune catalog, it does not freezes,
but the catalog never comes.
I saw on other bugs like this that a mkdir ~/.cache/rhythmbox/magnatune
resolved the issue, well in this case it did not change anything. Still fails
to load the catalog.
I even tried using opendns, thought it could be something wrong with isp, but
magnatune page is available in firefox, Also at the same time Ubuntu One music
store does not have any problems in loading catalog/playing songs.

This bug is important as 10.04 ships with ubuntu one store and it will draw
more attention to rhythmbox stores, and having a buggy magnatune plugin along
with ubuntu's one working is just not fair!
What is this, a marketing decison? We make sure Ubuntu one works while the
others dont't and so we sell more!?

Can someone confirm this bug in 10.04?

[Bug 362359] Re: Focus gets stuck to a window - impossible to select other windows

2010-02-15 Thread mihai007
I had to change from gnome to xfce since gnome is unusable. (locks every ~10
mouse clicks)
Now on xfce it still happens, but the rate has gone from 10 mouse clicks to
maybe 1-2 times a day.
Do you think it's possible to reset the mouse position using a shortcut when
this happens?

something like a command that moves the mouse to a x,y position and
resets the drag/drop/click events on the pointer...

[Bug 362359] Re: Focus gets stuck to a window - impossible to select other windows

2010-02-13 Thread mihai007
I can confirm this bug on updated 9.10, even using only the live CD, nothing
additional installed.
On my system is SO easy to make it happen. Just open any window (terminal for
example) and select titlebar to move it a little several times, it will happen
on 3rd or 4th time.
Also another easy way to loose focus is to alternately click inside the window
and on desktop several times (this does not fail, bug happens every time I try
it).
The solution is to switch to other workspace (ctrl-alt-right) click on desktop
then go back to previous desktop, although sometimes it locks completely (mouse
moves but no clicks or keyboard clicks anywhere) so I have to kill X in order
to use it again

The laptop is an Toshiba U500-1EW that has an nvidia 310M (I believe it
is not related to graphic card) and it has a multy touch touchpad, at
least they say you can zoom in/out with 2 fingers in win7

[Bug 200449] Re: i8k fan speed values are wrong

2009-03-01 Thread mihai007
Hello again!
That was fast, I know but I think I found the solution:
it seems that i8k is using a I8K_FAN_MULT=30 multiplicator for the fan speed,
but newer motherboards already does that, so if using the gnome sensors applet
adjust the sensor value multiplier under it's preferences at 0.033 ( the
value comes from 1/30).

Now my fan speed is 3005RPM which is a way more trusted value indeed!

Where I got this stuff from: http://lkml.org/lkml/2005/3/12/155

Now the question is how could the i8k be patched not to show the value
multiplied on certain motherboards/bioses?

[Bug 318512] [NEW] Logitech Multimedia key wrong mapping

2009-01-18 Thread mihai007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xkeyboard-config

Hello. I don't know where to report this and how but I just got a new
keyboard and the key that should start rhythmbox does nothing. Now on my
old keyboard the multimedia key for that worked by default, without any
configuration.

I am using: Ubuntu 8.10
The keyboard is: Logitech Multimedia Keyboard 600 (
http://www.logitech.com/repository/455/jpg/3594.1.0.jpg )
The Key is mapped to XF86Tools (should it be instead XF86Media?)
The key on the keyboard is bottom left of the volume wheel in the image, next
to F8 key.

I am happy to provide you any additional information about the keyboard,
just ask for it.

The keyboard also has dedicated keys for undo, redo, print, save and open
word, excel, spreadsheet it would be nice to have them working also with
open office but it's a lower priority than the dedicated multimedia key.

Thank you.

[Bug 289161] [NEW] Sony Walkman NWZ-135F patch

Hello. I just tested another mp3 player (

Flash Disk, instead as a Media Player.

I just added the info and it worked right away (Rhythmbox shows import
errors of files that are not mp3's (pdf's and so) because this mp3
player does not have a music folder, you can place songs anywhere on it,
but it works great.)

inserted.

[Bug 278089] Re: Starting Power Manager shouldn't show up on taskbar during login

2008-10-17 Thread mihai007
Hello.
I don't have the 8.10 installed here at home, only at the office so what I did
was boot a live CD here on my laptop and confirmed the bug, logged out and in 3
times and confirmed the bug.
Then I installed 2.24.0-0ubuntu8~ppa1 and loged out/in and it worked
perfect!
Just to make sure I reverted in synaptic to the repositories version and after
another log out/in the bug reapeared.

So the conclusion is that during my tests here on a live CD on my laptop
your version worked just perfect!

[Bug 285239] [NEW] Add/Remove Applications Window Double click wrong behaviour

2008-10-17 Thread mihai007
Public bug reported:

I am using 8.10 and started Add/Remove Applications window, and double clicked
(without moving the mouse) on a application listed to install it and it's not
getting selected to install visually but the button apply changes activates.
After moving the mouse the application appears selected.
Even stranger behaviour us double click to install and without moving the mouse
(no visual effect) then double click to uninstall and the application gets
visually selected to be installed despite I clicked to uninstall it...

Can someone confirm this on their systems? If this bug actually happens
on all systems it's quite bad for new, unexerienced ubuntu users.

[Bug 283071] [NEW] Gedit strange I/O Error with sudo

humm ok with - in the path works but the thing is that my project uses
yelp to display the Help-Contents file and I have no idea if a user
will have the software somewhere under a folder that has spaces in the
path. In this case yelp does not work.

In my opinion this is still an issue that sooner or later should be
fixed...

[Bug 197978] Re: Cracy Tracker HDD access after resume

2008-05-23 Thread mihai007
Well I killed trackerd and when I resume from suspend no longer makes intense
use of hdd.
The problem is that after 2 or 3 more suspends I get hdd activity again.. Last
one last for 10min until finally stopping.
I completely uninstalled tracker from my system, rebooted and made some 10-15
sleep/resume with and without compiz activated and everything works great but
after that it began again to use the hdd on resume but only one time. Now I
think I suspended some 20+ times and only happened one time.
For me it's completely random... have no idea why is happening, what uses the
hdd on resume but only sometimes...
So in my case has nothing to do with tracker.
Using atop to track hdd activity per process it does not show which process
uses the hdd but in the summary I get 100% use of hdd (see attachment), I think
it has to do with the red line starting with PAG | scan..., have no Idea what
that means...

Do you still have this issue?!

[Bug 231470] [NEW] New generic player patch

2008-05-17 Thread mihai007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

Hello.
My mp3 device is not recognized as an mp3 player but as an usb drive.
It is a normal mp3 player that has a Music folder where you put all mp3's.
By looking on the net Ifound that this has to do with HAL and i spent my time
on making my device to work.
I checked on HAL website and their last version does not include my player.

Now it works great, it is detected by rhythmbox, I am able to
transfer(from-to)/play files from the mp3 player.
I am sorry, I don't know how to make a patch, so I'll add my changes as an txt
file.

The only file I edited was:
/usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/10-usb-music-players.fdi

I need help from someone to commit this changes so other people could use this

- Now it works great, it is detected by rhythmbox, I am able to
transfer(from-to)/play files from the mp3 player.
- I am sorry, I don't know how to make a patch, so I'll add my changes as an
txt file.

[Bug 116990] Re: Rhythmbox sound problems (clicking/snapping/crackling) when not using crossfading backend

2008-05-07 Thread mihai007
I can confirm that on Hardy using rhythmbox or totem the sound is
clicking/snapping/crackling. This seems to happen every time a menu is clicked,
any window is resized, any window is minimized or maximized.
Even worse if using 3d desktop effects.
I really need some help on this, I am using an Audigy2ZS and some very good
headphones (Senheiser hd 595) and want a clean sound.
Happens in flac/mp3/ogg...

[Bug 218286] Re: Time and Date Settings - Install NTP support keeps coming up again and again

2008-04-26 Thread mihai007
I just tested under 8.04 final release.
Actually synaptic downloaded ntp packages but the configuration remained in
manual mode.
I insisted to keep syncronized with, asked me again if I want to download
ntp and then does nothing!

After several tries I just closed the Time and Date Settings dialog and
reopened it:
things were already configured as I wanted.

But why do I have to reopen the window to see the change being applied??

This bug is important to be fixed!

[Bug 222572] [NEW] Unable to remove Evolution Calendar types Label

2008-04-26 Thread mihai007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I am unable to remove Evolution's Calendar types labels from the calendar view.
I am using only On this computer type calendars and why I am unable to remove
the CalDav, Google, On the web, contacts, weather?

Those labels should appear ONLY when there exists at least one calendar
of that type. It makes the calendar box full of junk.

[Bug 222583] [NEW] Pidgin does not show the correct protocol name and icon

2008-04-26 Thread mihai007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

When I added an account to pidgin I specified that I want an google talk
protocol.

Inserted all info and hit the save button.
In the accounts window I get an Protocol: XMPP and not the google talk icon.

Why? I repeated the process several times but keeps placing the XMPP
ptorocol type.

Note: everything works ok but why it does not say Google Talk and google's icon
if I said so?
This is very very confusing to me. As a normal user, i have no idea what xmpp
mean and don't want to know. If I select Google talk from the combo, i want
it to be Google talk and not something else.

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 final (clean install)

P.S: if you say that well gtalk actually is xmpp, well I'll say that from the
user's point of view you are wrong because :
He sees a label saying Protocol: and a box from where he chooses Google
Talk, result:
Protocol: Google Talk

This is a usability bug!

2008-04-04 Thread mihai007
Oh well back with bad news this time, and I think those match better with the
reality:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=ubuntu%2C+vista%2C+xpctab=0geo=alldate=allsort=0

People actually don't search or write about Windows vista but actually about
vista.
This is a big difference.
Note: vista means other things that windows vista but you can see from data
that comes from 2004, 2005 that it's not that relevant (I'm talking about the
fact that it could boost vista's search volume, but it's irrelevant)...

2007-11-20 Thread mihai007
I had some time and made another test, this time in Gusty.
I repeated the test several times, so the user and sys time are almost
constant, no big change between the several tryes.
Here you have in one folder only one file, a png file, and in the other folder
more that 2000 thumbnails.
The real time of course it does not matter, because it has to do with how long
I keep the window open.

[Bug 164037] [gutsy] OpenOffice bullets bug

2007-11-20 Thread mihai007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

While using openoffice i saw that when using bullets there is a grey area
around them so that I can see where all bullets are. That's fine.
The problem is that when I am not with the cursor over the bullets and I am
editing other parts of the document,
the grey rectangle does not dissapear!
I tested this in OpenOffice from Fedora 7 and the bug does not exists, the grey
area only appears when I am with the cursor near one of the bullets. This is
how it should be in Ubuntu also.
I have some screenshots to show exactly what am I talking about.

find out how you would look in hundreds of haircuts, try different lip
colors or eye contact lenses and shadows.

It was already packed as rpm for OpenSUSE but because I use Ubuntu and
the application was build in ubuntu actually I would like to have it in
the repositories.

It is a java application, works with java 5 or 6 (recomended, it's faster) and
needs swt (highly recomended 3.3 version)
The licence for the application is GPLv3

The application's link: http://sourceforge.net/projects/jkiwi/

[Bug 78710] slow Eye of GNOME start

2007-01-10 Thread mihai007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

I consider this a bug or lack of an feature.
The problem is that Eye of GNOME 2.14.3 (i have this version but it applies on
other versions also) has this feature named Image Collection (View-Image
Colection or press F9).

This feature by default is not selected in ubuntu and i think that is normal, I
don't use it.
But the problem is that even if I do not use this feature, every time I want to
see an image
by double click on it in nautilus, i have to wait until this features scans all
folder for images and does whaterver, and only after that i can see the opened
image.
I sugest you go to nautilus, in a folder that has more than 200 photos
(example: ~/.gnome2/banshee/covers or ~/.gnome2/rhythmbox/covers/ or even
woese: ~/.thumbnails/normal/ ) and open one small image with eog and see the
time it takes to open the image.
This is a great problem when I want to see some photos in a folder and i always
do double click then close.
This delay should created from Image Collection feature should happen only when
I activate it.

Pleas don't tell me to use other programs or use the Image Collection
feature without the need of nautilus or use gThumb or whatever because I
hope you can realize that it is ridiculous to wait like 5seconds with
cpu on full load to open an 12.4kb (172x72) png image in a folder like
that.

Re: [Bug 34656] Re: AcerAspire1694WLMi keys configuration

2006-10-22 Thread mihai007
i just installed the preview release.
it seems that the next/prev song works out of the box, the
stop/(play-pause) keys will pause the song but you can't make it play
again. the play/pause does not work correctly.

so in keyboard shortcuts i had to disable the Pause key and put the
play/pause key work with play only. it seems to work correctly now.

of course, no problem at all.

I guess that means that installing current Dapper (or using it as a
liveCD) still does not correctly detect the keys.

Once Edgy comes out, would you please report back to us with the status
  of the bug?

  Thanks
