Upon reboot, no splash and the monitor switches to sleep mode. Just a Black screen. I can switch to another VT. Tried restarting X but nothing. Tried sudo apt-get update, upgrade and dist-upgrade. Still the same. As far as I know, it is still present. However it only applies to my ati HD4200 and The Live Lucid CD. Same here, I installed nvidia_96 through Jockey today after a buch of updates on a fresh install of Beta 2. nvidia_96 fails to install properly, Then after a reboot, GDM crashes after clicking on a user. GDM restarts after a few seconds. I switched to tty1 and sudo stop gdm startx. Gnome desktop loads with nvidia accelerated graphics. nvidia module is actually loaded and running. Compiz effects are working. But Jockey still reports that nvidia was disabled. The device shows up in ifconfig, and also on the networkmanager applet Auto eth0 is there with the correct mac address but wont connect. I just noticed something. The output from lspci on Lucid is not the same as on Karmic with regard to my graphics controller. Just tried booting todays lucid Lynx daily Live CD and still have to use nomodeset. adding nomodeset to /etc/default/grub and doing update-grub got X working.
