[Bug 1566508] Re: autofs races with sssd on startup
I tested sssd-1.13.4-1ubuntu1.4, and after several reboot on xenial distro I can confirm that the bug is fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566508 Title: autofs races with sssd on startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sssd/+bug/1566508/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1566508] Re: autofs races with sssd on startup
I wasn't able to fix the issue with the solutions proposed up there, so I managed to find another workaround for autofs to be operational on startup. The only difference is that im using unbound to resolve my DNS. Just add this line under EnvironnementFile in /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/sssd.service EnvironmentFile=-/etc/sysconfig/sssd + ExecStartPre=/bin/sleep 10 Then we have to create a script which is going to make sleep 10 sec restart unbound sleep again 10sec then restart autofs in /etc/init.d/restartautofs After creating the script like the attachment I posted just run: update-rc.d restartautofs defaults To be sure the script starts at the end change the names of the 01restartautofs to S99restartautofs (in each levels /etc/rc2.d/ /etc/rc3.d/ /etc/rc4.d/ /etc/rc5.d/) So we are good to go with this workaround sssd and networking services are ok before autofs start so its mapping correctly. ** Attachment added: "script" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autofs/+bug/1566508/+attachment/4763180/+files/restartautofs -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566508 Title: autofs races with sssd on startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autofs/+bug/1566508/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 648180] Re: Unity is not an adequate replacement for Gnome2 (and sucks a little bit less then it used to)
Many users, especially those who are new to Linux, will not simply install a different desktop environment. They will switch distributions instead. This is already happening: http://royal.pingdom.com/2011/11/23/ubuntu-linux-losing-popularity-fast-new-unity-interface-to-blame/ Experienced users with the knowledge to dump and replace Unity are treated as second class citizens since Ubuntu's main focus regarding updates and components, such as an Ubuntu One client, lies on Unity. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/648180 Title: Unity is not an adequate replacement for Gnome2 (and sucks a little bit less then it used to) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/648180/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 648180] Re: Unity is not an adequate replacement for Gnome2 (and sucks a little bit less then it used to)
Everything may have been said. Nevertheless, I feel I need to add to it. Unity is less effective than the old default. As long as there is less than, say, four windows open it does work. However, when I have to work with several applications simultaneously and when there are several windows for each application, it becomes difficult to pick the one I need. When you take away my taskbar you should give me something that is able to replace it. Unity can't do that. Furthermore, working with more than one desktop is a very useful feature that was even adopted even by Mac OS. This feature becomes useless when your launcher keeps displaying everything at once, no matter how many desktops you are using. Ubuntu Classic is still available but works worse than it used to. I need to run compiz --replace exit every time I log in because unless I do so, drag and drop to the taskbar won't work. The notion of a Unity-only future makes me feel quite uncomfortable. Please, Mr. Shuttleworth, do consider if making Unity the default might have been a mistake. Obviously, many users think so, and those who do not have so far failed to present actual reasons supporting their opinion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/648180 Title: Unity is not an adequate replacement for Gnome2 (and sucks a little bit less then it used to) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
