Re: [Bug 1790753] Re: X1 yoga 3rd generation doesn't go to sleep

2018-09-30 Thread myrtille
Thanks, that's great news! I let my colleague know that there's a BIOS
update out for the X1 carbon.
I've already passed the argument to the kernel, but I've also had to
disable the sd-card reader to actually get the machine to use this new type
of sleep.

That being said, s0i3 still seems to consume a lot more energy than true S3
sleep to ram. So I'm glad that lenovo is listening and bringing the 'real'
suspend back. Let's hope that they'll do it soon for the yoga too!

Re: [Bug 1790753] Re: X1 yoga 3rd generation doesn't go to sleep

2018-09-06 Thread myrtille
I only got the laptop a week ago. The issue existed ever since I installed
(K)ubuntu on it. A friend of mine got the X1 Carbon and has the same issue.

>From what I understand the issue relates to the fact that Lenovo uses this
S0i3 mode as sleep mode and no longer offers 'true' suspendtoram (S3). I
don't quite understand why this works so badly on the yoga, but it's
training aboubt 8% of battery power per hour while in sleep.

I'll try the PPA and let you know.

Public bug reported:

Since the upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 any version of skype I try to launch (statig,

if started from the command line:
 Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-open.c: 667: _dl_open: Assertion

I have purged the packages and tried reinstalling them without success.

[Bug 375487] Re: kde shows character instead space

2010-08-07 Thread myrtille
Hi,

problem has vanished at some point and I can no longer reproduce. I
haven't been using the font causing the problem for a long time either.
I never knew what package was causing this, that's why I didn't add it.
Probably or possibly kwin?

Anyhow I guess this can be considered outdated/closed

The bug is not relevant for me anymore, I have since switched to 64bit

gets a reply.

[Bug 424732] [NEW] update-notifier-kde show reason for blocking package

2009-09-05 Thread myrtille
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-notifier-kde

Hi,

this is a feature wish, couldn't find how to set that option for the
bugreport.

I would like the update-notifier to show the reason for blocking a
package, eg which packages need to be installed for the package not to
be blocked.

eg Mplayer was being held back today and it would have been nice to have
something like:
mplayer held back, packages missing: libopencore-amrnb0 libopencore-amrwb0

So that I would know why it wasn't installed.

[Bug 420565] [NEW] brightness setting not respected by powersaving

2009-08-28 Thread myrtille
Public bug reported:

I think this is a problem with power-guidance-applet or the powersaving
settings anyway, but I could not find it in the list of packages.

This is a laptop (an Acer Travlemate 6492 to be precise) and when I use
it while it's plugged into a charge, the default powersaving settings
are "performance".

I often change the brightness of my screen, usually I set it to the lowest
setting available, which works very well.
However the powersaving options don't respect these personal settings.

According to the profile after 10minutes of inactivity the screen should
be dimmed. However it does not lower the actual brightness (which it
can't as I have set it to lowest already), but actually brightens the
screen, by setting it to the second highest brightness. (which would be
dimming, if I was using the highest brightness, but I don't)

When I start using the PC again, the powersaving options set the
brightness back to the highest available, instead of the custom one, I
chose earlier.

I would expect the powersaving to really "dim" the screen after 10 minutes of
inactivity or do nothing, if that is impossible instead of making it brighter.
And I would expect the powersaving settings to remember and respect my modified
brightness settings once I start using my PC again.

(I'm having trouble explaining this, so if anything is unclear, please
ask)

I'm using Kubuntu Jaunty with KDE 4.2.4 and right now the 28.15 kernel. (the
problem also existed with the 28.14 kernel)
I only recently switched back from the 2.6.30 kernel, because of regressions,
so I can not say if that problem has always been present, or only appeared
recently.

If you need more info, please ask. I'll be happy to provide.

regards myrtille

[Bug 420566] [NEW] brightness setting not respected by powersaving

2009-08-28 Thread myrtille
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 420565 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/420565

[Bug 345119] Re: [i965 X3100] X freezes randomly, only mouse pointer still functional

2009-08-18 Thread myrtille
Hi,

same is true for me. I get random freezes where only the mouse can be
moved, but nothing can be clicked. I have an Acer travelmate 6492 with
the same graphics controller Intel GMA X3100 (GM965 chipset)

I also tried the different X-versions and updated to the new 2.6.30
kernel, However I still get freezes and right now the default jaunty
kernel works better for me than the new one. (also see here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/415132 )

I set up an SSH server on the freezing machine, so if you need any logs
from a frozen machine, I'll be happy to provide, after the next random
freeze.

I tried using the settings for exa, uxa in xorg.conf and deleting
xorg.conf completely and got freezes with every setting.

[Bug 415132] [NEW] GM965/GL960 intel freeze with kde desktop effects

2009-08-17 Thread myrtille
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm using jaunty with kde 4.2.4, the new kernel (2.6.30-020630rc6) and
the updated x-server. The xserver-xorg.video-intel package has version
:2:2.8.0+git20090814.926c7e7d-0ubuntu0sarvatt~jaunty

For the last 3 weeks my PC completely freezes (no movement in the animations,
mouse can't be moved, does not react to any keyboard-combination), whenever I
try to use desktop effects. I followed instructions on gaining info for intel
freezes here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze and will attach
the output. However the instructions are for gnome and there was no kdm folder,
so I have no kdm.log.
The freeze for the dri_debug info was provoked by switching through windows.

The PC does not freeze on desktop-effects when I use the 2.6.28-14
kernel.

I also get random freezes with both kernels on that machine, which look
a lot like the bug reported here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
intel/+bug/345119

If you need any further information please let me know.

[Bug 413303] [NEW] brightness settings not applied

2009-08-13 Thread myrtille
Public bug reported:

I'm using Kubuntu Jaunty with KDE 4.2.4 and mostly the 2.6.30 kernel on
an acer travelmate 6492.

When I try to change the brightness of my desktop with either the FN-
keys or the powermanager-widget or the systemsettings, I can change the
settings but they have no effect on the brightness. I effectively can't
change it, it is always set to maximal brightness.

I can change brightness just fine when I boot into the 2.6.28-14 kernel.

[Bug 410666] [NEW] apt-get misreads specified kernel to delete

2009-08-08 Thread myrtille
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm currently running kubuntu jaunty with the 2.6.30 kernel and kde
4.2.4, apt is version 0.7.20.2ubuntu6.

I decided to remove kernel version 2.6.28-11 and ran "sudo apt-get
remove -purge 2.6.28-11*" expecting the command would remove the
2.6.28-11 kernel. However it tried to remove ALL installed kernels from
the 2.6.28-group (so in my case 2.6.28.11,2.6.28.13 and 2.6.28.14). I
attached the output of "sudo apt-get remove -purge 2.6.28-11*".

I removed the 2.6.28-11 kernel version successfully by using the
following command: apt-get remove 2.6.28-11-*, however I think that the
command I initially used should not delete all kernels as this is an
accident waiting to happen.

I also tried to replicate this behaviour with other packages, but it
worked fine for "sudo apt-get remove -purge flashplugin-nonfree*" it
only listed packages containing "flashplugin-nonfree" and no packages
containing "flashplugin" but not "nonfree", so it's probably a problem
that is specific to the kernel packages.

[Bug 391372] [NEW] sound play back twice as quick and mute afterwards

2009-06-23 Thread myrtille
Public bug reported:

Hi,

this is a rather rare and non reproducible error on a laptop with Jaunty and
KDE 4.2.4.
Kernelversion is (uname -v):#020630rc6 SMP Mon May 18 15:27:04 UTC 2009

When playing sound in Amarok, Firefox or Dragon the sound will all of a sudden
play back twice as quick for a couple of seconds and then mute.
The sound is then gone for all open applications. Eg if Amarok was playing and
crashed while FF was running I won't get any sound in FF anymore either. The
programs usually aren't crashed by the loss of sound.

Restarting the application I want to get sound for will solve the
problem.

I ran Dragonplayer from the konsole when it happened today and this
message appeared:

E: core-util.c: Assertion 'pa_close(fds[0]) == 0' failed at pulsecore
/core-util.c:2109, function pa_close_pipe(). Aborting.

I thought this might be useful, which is why I submitted the report.

Hi,

I created a new account, everything seemed fine.
When I switched the font the characters reappeared. So it appears to be related
to the font that is used.

I tried switching the font on my normal user-account. The characters

[Bug 375487] [NEW] kde shows character instead space

2009-05-12 Thread myrtille
Public bug reported:

Problem first appeared after upgrade from intrepid with kde4.2 to jaunty.
Problem remains after installing kde 4.2.3
The systemlanguage was recently changed from german to english with no effect
on the problem. (Systemsettings confirms both german and english to be
installed languages)

Some examples of the "funny display" are:

http://saved.im/mte0nzy0ndnj/ff.png (firefo 3.0.10)
http://saved.im/mte0nzyycdln/konv1.png (konversation 1.1.75)

Those signs also appear in some entries of the right-click menues and I have no
clue what is causing them or why they only appear in some entries and not all
of them.
The Font is Ori1Uni

[Bug 213341] [NEW] robots crashes when trying to teleport

2008-04-07 Thread myrtille
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

Hi,
I'm having the same issues, as the person in this closed bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-games/+bug/190625

I tried to follow the steps lined out, however I had a look and I
couldn't find a crashreport to submit, so I decided to file this report
hoping you'll explain me what to do.

I'm using a german version of Kubuntu, the version is 7.10. The Problem
is occurring with one of the games (gnobots2) from the gome-games
package, version number is 1:2.20.1-0ubuntu1.

Everytime I hit the "teleport"-Button instead of being teleported I get a
segmentation fault.
If i call robots from the commandline, some warnings are displayed after
hitting the teleportbutton, but noh crashreport is written:

the folder /var/crash remains empty.

How can/should I proceed to get more information? (I've added strace,
valgrind and full backtrace as described in the Debugging Procedures)
