[Bug 951585] Re: gvfsd-afp consumes 100% of processor cycles

2014-06-30 Thread noamik
This bug is still present in (X)Ubuntu 14.04. Happens to me when
accessing my synology nas using Thunar. Doesn't seem to happen when
accessing my samba 3 fileserver on a x86 server though.

[Bug 589100] [NEW] gnome-power-preferences monitor power settings not respected when running laptop stationary

2010-06-03 Thread noamik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Reproduce bug:
- Open up gnome-power-preferences on a laptop
- set time until monitor powers off to 30 minutes for stationary
- set time until monitor powers off to 10 minutes when running on battery
- Insert battery into your laptop but stay connected to power cord
- Play a video and touch nothing
- Monitor will power off after 10 minutes

What I did not check out is, if it matters which of both times has been
set first.

IMO this is two bugs in one.
First: if I got two separate settings, they should be respected appropriately.
Second: I do not want my monitor to power off while playing video, not
activating screen-saver works, but gnome-power-manager should be aware of video
as well.

[Bug 480276] [NEW] Kaffeine reports Cannot find demultiplexer plugin for the given media data after dvb was stopped and restartet

2009-11-10 Thread noamik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kaffeine

The following steps reproduce the bug.
- start kaffeine Version 1.0-pre2 (the bug was not present in 0.8.x)
- switch to digital TV having dvb-t enabled.
- choose a channel
- watch TV
- press stop
- choose again a channel
Kaffeine reports: Cannot find demultiplexer plugin for the given media data
twice. This repeats on each try of channel selection until kaffeine is
restarted.
This bug is not related to:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kaffeine/+bug/467887
Libraries are installed. Channel selection works as expected on first try and
it is possible to switch channels. It only happens if another media type has
been used before or the TV stopped.

[Bug 255008] Re: Up arrow key mapped to Print [screen]

2009-08-05 Thread noamik
Problem still present when upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10 and even persists when
upgrading further to 9.04.
It only affects existing users. When I create a new user, the keyboard is
working as expected. However none of the above workarounds does fix all the
issues for my existing user.
Best I can achieve is when setting keyboard to evdev after login to get any key
working but the down cursor ...

Is there nobody who knows what I can do to get the keyboard settings of
a new user to apply to my existing user?

As a work around I could fix remaining issues by deleting any xmodmap-

still consider it a bug when an dist-upgrade breaks prior keyboard

[Bug 381392] Re: Brasero fails on small dvd images

2009-06-08 Thread noamik
I tried, but brasero does not know the options. The file did only contain:
Unbekannte Option --brasero-media-debug
Starten Sie 'brasero --help' um eine vollständige Liste verfügbarer
Kommandozeilenoptionen anzuzeigen.

and brasero did not start. I tried brasero --help, but I could not find a
similar option.
u...@myhost:~ brasero --help | grep debug
-g, --debugZeige Debug-Ausgaben auf Stdout an
u...@myhost:~ brasero --help | grep media
u...@myhost:~ brasero --help | grep brasero

So I tried

[Bug 381392] [NEW] Brasero fails on small dvd images

2009-05-28 Thread noamik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Burning a DVD with an ISO-Image which is too small (less than 800 MB,
mine is around 550 MB) fails.

Happened to me on hardy i386, but applies to other versions as well.

Problem: when an ISO image is too small, more data has to be added
before DVD fixation. Brasero seems to be ignoring that the drive will
write a huge lead out!

Possible fix: burn with cdrecord (cdrecord happily writes this ISO to a
DVD-R and waits as needed until the drive is ready).

[Bug 271035] Re: Thunderbird stuck in maximized mode

2009-05-16 Thread noamik

Problem can be solved by removing localstore.rdf (sideeffects?), so
I suppose problem is somewhere in this file.

[Bug 308271] [NEW] Shadow images when playing video in Compiz-Expo-Mode extended over 6 virtual desktops

2008-12-15 Thread noamik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz-fusion-plugins-main

You need 6 virtual desktops 3x2 (might happen with other configurations also).
Open a video and enlarge the player to fit the screen.
Go into expo mode (default key binding: win+E).
Move the window to overlap into 4 desktops.
Go into the middle desktops and stretch the window even further.
Back to expo mode and move the window to overlap into all six desktops.

Both middle ones now show the video with shadow images (the same image
but slightly moved to the right).

** Affects: compiz-fusion-plugins-main (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

I was able to reproduce it, while trying to print the same site again.
It's the dell.de-Site for Education Customers like Universities, trying
to print the offer for a LCD :

I attach the next crash Bug report, it seems to be a little different. I
use firefox on a Ubuntu 6.10 - Xubuntu with the FF-version shipped by

[Bug 109369] Slow app-start for any app using user-config when logged in with a NIS-User.

2007-04-23 Thread noamik
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from 6.10 to 7.04.

After upgrade, login to my NIS-Useraccount using X was very slow. Any
app reading user config on my NIS-homedirectory had startup times from
15 seconds to 10 Minutes. After toying a little bit around and
installing NIS-Cache I restarted. Better performance but still slow. Any
app trying to read from NIS took 15 seconds to 2 Minutes to startup.

After a fresh install of 7.04 I still experience this problem. I can
reproduce it, using strace I can see where each program (like thunar,
firefox, thunderbird, opera, open office) is hung up, doing nothing for
10-15 seconds, but none of the apps is hanging at the same system call.
They even read without problems several files from NIS before stopping
their work. Some Problems stop from doing anything several times (for
example firefox).

CPU-Usage is near to 100% idle during hang up of the apps, same for
network-traffic ...

[Bug 109369] Re: Slow app-start for any app using user-config when logged in with a NIS-User.

2007-04-23 Thread noamik
I attach a script-record of a thunderbird start as an example. I typed
something to show the place, where thunderbird hangs for 15 seconds.
After closing thunderbird, I startet thunar. Thunar seems to cache
something, it started with now problems, as I already started it once
before. This is reproducable for thunar too. After reboot thunar has a
slow start too.
